- Loaded the airplane up with an inflatable fishing boat, heading up to Mackenzie BC, Canada to do some fly fishing for the week. ENJOY!
I put together this video for those of you who love airplanes.... and anybody else that wants to see what it's like in the front of a twin turboprop turbine airplane.
Pretty cool! I worked on these for over 20 years at Yingling in Wichita, what a nice airplane! They were just going to the glass panels instead of the old steam gauges when I quit working on them, but if you had a Conquest and were at Yingling between when these were new and 2003,I probably worked on it!
That is crazy! then you have defs probably seen this airplane there!
love the closeup of the garmin. nice!
thanks!
What a nice airplane! With a cute panda 😻
Major envy here! Awesome plane!
Thanks! she is a great birdie
loved it. awesomne
great video, what a plane! seems easy to fly! please... more....fly safe.
.
Thanks so much!!!
I love turboprops!
That’s incredible, seeing this video reminds me of why I’m pursuing my PPL! My goal is to obtain a CPL with a multi-engine rating.
Good for you! That reminds me of when I was a young pilot just learning.
those graphics are insane!
so... many.... pixels! haha
Great video!
Thanks a lot man!
Thanks!!
Nice Panel!! Videos like your really make me want to upgrade my panel to glass! And perhaps a turbine as well ;-)
Thanks!! You know it was really a matter of safety. We do so much flying into the rockies and with family in the back, it was worth it! The baron was always one of my favourites though!! We looked at a 58 before the 425, but the 425 was actually cheaper. Barons hold their value really well. :)
You know what though, by the time our panel was done.... Garmin just released their new G600 glass panels... so we were already outdated :p Can't beat a baron though, very nice planes to fly.
G58 owner here, thinking about pressurised/turbine after a few flights where the naturally aspirated Baron was close to running out of margin. What's your experience with real-life running cost of the 425?
Baron Pilot Nice But the cost is tremendous and the need very low unless your habitually in hard IFR
Great Footage :)
thanks so much!! :)
You just THOUGHT your route was as filed! Lol, happens a lot. Loved the video, liked and subbed. I'd love to see more!
hahaha thanks a lot!!
.
Mi
Love the panda!
haha thanks! Sorry for the late reply!
Well done... ';-)
Thanks a lot! You fly a 425 as well i see! Owner flown?
After flying a 414 for nearly 40 years, this ship felt like I was at the helm of a F4 Phantom.
Youd get used to it pretty quickly! And those pratts.... make flying so much easier!
I flew Right seat in KTL back when Kal Tire owned it.
thats insane!! haha yes they took great care of the ol birdie
Hi there,
I am desperately trying to find a copy (preferably digital) of the 425s PoH. Or, failing that, just the pages that list the aircraft limitations and, most importantly, the listed instrument indications/marking (the various arcs and whatnot). Do you have any idea where I might find those?
Great video!! What autopilot do you have? Does it have Airspeed hold?
it is the old Cessna 1000! no airspeed hold. It will climb till it stalls
Nice panel...
Thanks!
Ps: Awesome.
How many cams? A headstrap and a fixed one??
Thanks! I used a head mounted GoPro4, and then a go pro mounted on a side window. Too much head movement makes viewers want to vomit though :p
Thanks for recognizing that, and thanks in advance for changing it. Otherwise, pretty good vid. thanks-roadrashray
Very interesting! I noticed that the ailerons moved while you were taxiing. are they stow how connected to the rudders?
haha thanks! Strangely enough, they actually are connected with a bungee (of some sort) So a lot of either aileron/rudder input will have slight effect on the controls. I con't remember why cessna did this on the 425.
Airplanesnsuch Aww cool! I see it a lot on other bigger aircraft and always thought it was electronic (like autopilot servos) or something :D Safe flying!
haha thank you sir! You as well! you fly a 310??
Airplanesnsuch No problem :) Unfortunately not yet. I'm actually still a student pilot but watch a lot of youtube and get invited to fly in other aircraft every now and then :) I'm (hopefully) going for my first solo tomorrow (I live in South Africa so time is a bit behind) wish me luck!
Nice video and the subtle differences between Canadian and U.S. ATC comms are interesting. Have to say though, as a C441 pilot, I’m not a big fan of entering flight plans while taxiing as a single pilot. Ps: I realize I’m commenting on a five year old video.
You fly a 441?! You got 40 knots on me then! And yes since then I have changed my ways. It is something I never thought about in the go-go-go style of flying we were sometimes doing in my previous flying gig. Single pilot sometimes you get used to being able to multi task and now I’ve found it faster to just enter your flight plans in while parked :)
@@EvanLuft Excellent policy! Yes, the 441 is a true 300 knot airplane but, when I was looking for an upgrade from my Saratoga, I started with the Cheyenne 400LS, which is 40 knots faster than the 441 and, though my 441 has pretty long legs, the Cheyenne is longer still. I test flew two of them and loved them. But, since only something like 45 were built, I was concerned about finding parts. But what an airplane! I still lust for it!
That is epic! I've seen a 400LS in a town near me and the props are as fat as Ive ever seen. That and the 441 are cool airplanes. Would love to fly one someday as I don't have any time on Garretts yet! Where Do you primarily operate out of??
@@EvanLuft KLGB, Long Beach, CA. If you're here sometime, I'd be happy to invite you aboard for some 441 time. FYI, I operate out of OCR Aviation and Rich Manor of OCR does a weekly video. A couple of weeks ago, he featured my airplane in a flight where he acted as my safety pilot so that I could shoot some approaches for IFR currency. It's at ruclips.net/video/I0zy9zrO9qA/видео.html
taxi Panda :)
your lucky to have the new torque gauges. I am guessing they are Blackhawk. My pt6-112's cruse about 255kts @ 240 in the summer, I get about 262 in the winter and I burn about 205lbs a side upstairs (Im in houston). Climb @8500lbs is 1.1 above 180 is about .8.
I would love to hear your numbers if you have a Blackhawk conversion.
thanks
Wow my late response to this!! We just changed the torque gauges for the blackhawks. Those wet gauges were so iffy at the best of times! Happy with the new ones... but we were broke $ for a little while after lol
Very strange, no FD In SVT?!
On our 690 with G600 we always have the FD.. Have a shop look at the setup next time, I reckon..!
Yeah I will definitely do that. Ugh the 690 is a wicked bird. Fast too with the Garrets (or however you spell them!) haha
Airplanesnsuch Afirm mate! 270kts TAS with the Garrets -10! Even easily beats our King Air. What does the 425 do..?
I'm guessing these are not -135As
Flying with you :-)
Yay!! Haha
are you in canada?
@@EvanLuft nope but been there year 2014-2016
@@EvanLuft 🤩🤪🙌🏻
Is all your flying part 91 flying or are you flying charter?
All of it is private. I do some flying for private owners who operate it for themselves and contract me out :)
is there a need to take a cessna flight simulator before taking dual training flight with a flight instructor or can I go for solo? how much is the cost of a brandnew newly manufactured cessna 425? maximum speed?
I went to flightsafety for this airplane and then did dual training. You dont NEED flight safety but I recommend it. You do need a type rating however. It is a forgiving airplane as long as everything works, however, new pilots would be way over their head if they aren't IFR proficient. Average cost now would probably be $500 -600k USD with mid time engines and modern avionics.
Is the yaw damper falling behind on that climb out?
Funny you say that. The 425 (even with it's yaw damper) still has a tendency to make figure 8s with its nose. Almost every 425 ive flown and 414 also seems to have the same tendency. I've heard some say it is because it has a large wingspan compared to its length. Flight safety actually mentioned it when I was there :)
Good observation by the way! haha
Yes it was slightly. We had that fixed actually. Surprised you noticed that.
Cute PaNDa
Where do u fly out of?
Calgary AB Canada!
why dose the ATIS sound like Marvin the Martian?
haha it does
Uh I hate the cockpit audio, I wanna hear sound of engines only
Ironically all my other videos don’t have cockpit audio, and I do that so that you can hear the engines haha. This is actually one of the few videos where I use cockpit audio. :p
@@EvanLuft
Yes, I know (that most of your videos are made without cockpit audio) and that's why I am a subscriber in your channel, because most of other pilots rarely do it without cockpit audio.
Thanks so much for that, but try to make more videos, because I'm in love with aviation (although I don't have any aircraft 😅).
@@BMWRR-rg5ev haha yeah thanks a lot! Its funny because for the past while I just didn't have the stuff to record cockpit audio anymore and actually found that the commentating overtop allowed me to keep the actual aircraft sounds instead which I preferred as well :) Do you fly though? :)
@@EvanLuft
Thanks
I don't fly too, but I'm planning to study, but I have to finish my university and improve my English first and then I'll do it insha'allah
Why was the anti Ice on? Clear and a million
Flightsafety recommends that the pitot heat and stall vane heat be on at all times from takeoff to landing. I think they've had instances where pilots have forgotten.
Ya I heard you say Anti Ice on. In jets we have Anti Ice systems. But I see you meant pitot static heat.
I've never heard of a C425... google answered for me... interesting
C425, C441, C414, C404, C340, C421 so many! haha
@@EvanLuft all over those other 400s even the T303.... just never came across a 425 before. i think they are like a 209... they are there... but rarely seen
Ok a 209??? Never heard of that one. Lol and I forgot about the 303! The once cessna that doesn’t look like a Cessna at all. Cool airplane though
Great plane, however, you are as bad as distracted drivers texting. Do not enter info into any nav equipment while taxing. That's bad.
Never thought of it that way before. Very good point.
UPDATE: I have since changed my habits since your comment. I now make sure I'm not taking clearances while taxiing and programming the GPS while taxiing
Beautiful aircraft but I thing the pt6 engine 450 HP it`s low power
Remember there are two engines, not just the one.
~oz~
:p
Thanks for sharing. Really enjoy the videos. Can you connect via twitter @artbillingsley , have questions on operating 425 as step up from C310. Thanks in advance.
for sure! I dont have twitter but instagram? @pilot_ev
okay I will try to find you! I dont have twitter but I will try to grab your info. Do you have instagram?
Yes on instagram @billinga
