- The recent snow storm in the Pacific Northwest opens my eyes to new possibilities! This painting is inspired by what nature brought us recently, as well as the watercolor master Andrew Wyeth.

This painting is stunning in its simplicity, harmony of colours and also in the technique you used in the trees. I noticed that your rigger work was amazingly delicate even with a quill brush-which has a beautiful tip to it. Those fine branches are so difficult to do. The whole scene brings tranquility.
May I also add that seeing the reference photo all through the video, for me as well as for many others, is VITAL. It teaches us what the artist gives emphasis to, removes, shifts or accentuates. Thanks Eric.
Thank you =)
yes, delicate put does it. One of the biggest issues I often see in student's work is that they use the same amount of pressure to paint every mark. It becomes repetitive and dead very quickly. Varying the way you paint, like a conductor ;)

Wonderful painting and demo. Just found this even though its been out for sometime.
Does anyone else recognize the background music as being part of the Skyrim soundtrack? Its very faint, but it sounds familiar.
That was wonderful. Thank you for sharing the painting of this little snowy pond with us. A subtle painting of a little snowy pond draws you in while an epic landscape shouts at you. This is the kind of work you want in a place where you want to feel centered, at peace, and contemplative.
I feel like I've walked past that exact spot, but I don't remember where it is. I photographed the great blue herons of Warren Magnuson Park, and Union Bay Natural Area both on Lake Washington for about three years. Is the photograph from that area?
Thank You for the demo. I really enjoyed it. It is always good to watch another painter work. Leonard Williams
Every time I stop by Cafe Watercolor you've taken your painting to another level. Congrats. Very impressive.
To answer your question at the end: Yes! Any landscape painting you paint is wonderful to watch unfold!
Robert Hopkins thank you Robert ☺️ always a pleasure to paint a new scenery

Thanks for all your videos ! I am so glad to find your sharing during this difficulty time, today I followed your video and painted it , maybe I will give the paint as a Christmas gift to somebody. Thanks!!!
Stunned! This is such a universally beautiful image, and I can literally smell this scene just looking at it. Greetings from Oslo!
at 4:42...great advice!
beautiful job!
I have enjoyed alot. Yes it is complex scene yet your amazing painting techniques has simplify it. Lovely painting
I like the physics part of interpretation on reflections from water surface and the ice of different thickness. It is further illustration on your emphasis on understanding what to paint. I think that the pond, the subject of this painting is framed up and down by tree branches in the rear and the dry grass/ twigs on the foreground; left and right from the trees on both sides. The pond is wonderfully highlighted. I learn so much from watching your video. I treasure every visual and audio part in it.
You did such a beautiful job with this. I loved , loved, loved watching you do this!!
excellent
Beautiful work. I enjoyed this one very much
I enjoy this scenery very much. The painting is beautiful.
Amazing. Thank you so much for sharing with us
I enjoyed your technique, Thank you Eric
Yes, more landscape painting please! Beautiful!
I love this video. That you sped up the actual painting and did the voice over. The hour long videos are just too long. ;). I also like landscapes as you know, so was drawn to this for sure.
Len Banks thank you Len. Yes I know long format demo is too long for some. It takes quite a bit more time to edit the shorter ones though :) but it worth to have some good contents
Please, more like this! Inspiring!
I did enjoy your painting very much. The snow covered earth and water is magnificent, even in it’s simplicity. When one is presented with an opportunity to see a scene such as this, it is more meaningful, if it is a rare occurrence. If you lived in an area that sees snow regularly, it would not have made such an impression on you, probably. You, being an artist, also gives you a different perspective of such things as this. I love how we, as artists, are so keen on seeing beauty in just a simple tree branch, or a tuft of grass covered in snow, or how the light shines on the ice covered water, making the reflection different from the dark flowing water. Your words conveyed your heart felt feelings of gratitude as you painted . Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your beautiful artistic ability with us. It made it seem very real, as though
I was there .
Really enjoyed seeing you paint a landscape!
