    "Even Greece and Russia agree".
But of course they do! As a matter of fact, the original word comes from Greek- "bibliotheka"- "biblion" "book" + "theke" "chest, box, container" but with the meaning of "storage", "warehouse".
As for Russian, plenty of direct influences of Greek because of byzantine (Greek was the language of the Easter Roman Empire) orthodox missionaries who converted the pagan slav tribespeople who lived in Russia at that time.

Actually it’s really easy to figure out what’s happening.
Library comes from an old French word meaning “bookstore” which can find its roots in Latin meaning “book”
The other version quite clearly has the root word “Biblos” the same word that “Bible” comes from. Which is Ancient Greek for “scroll”
So library has Latin roots whereas the other has Greek roots. But really Liber and Biblos mean the same thing
