When I’ve put alcohol inks on clear plastic Christmas baubles, as the alcohol ink dried, I sprayed it lightly with clean alcohol from my mini spray bottle. I loved the texture that it made, and for some of the baubles, I let it dry that way. I also used a bit of gold pebeo texture paint (in a squeeze tube), to outline some of the colored areas.
Resin has a shelf life of 12 months, from manufacture. Old resin will crystalise. Pour resin part A or B, in an old pan, and heat gently, This will dissolve the crystals. Old resin will crystalise, but can be salvaged by heating the separate parts. Let it cool, then you can decant back into the bottles and use resin as usual. 👍 This works, Ive done it loads of times. Also works with cloudy resin. 👍
Very pretty. This was extra hard for you because this design technique tends to favor randomness and you are always a perfectionist. They are beautiful!
Julie! You didn't tell us you had chipmunks?!? 😅 Oh, WOW I really like that first coaster! Looks like exotic marble. 😊💕 That's as far as I've gotten, so far... Could you use a straw to blow through? That metallic bronze you're using as lines looks reminiscent of kintsugi! LOVE that! 😍❤ The way you described doing the 2nd set is more like the way alcohol ink artists "paint" their pictures. Eager to see how that works for you, Julie! These are just *GORGEOUS,* Julie. I had wondered why you were going to resin the tops after using varnish, but *what* a difference the resin makes! I hope you do more of these! 💕😍❤
So beautiful, love the earthy look. Tip to try, take piece painters tape, put on bottom of coaster, then hot glue the coaster to your stand, cup, etc. It keeps coaster still and can grab cup to pick up coaster.
Putting your alcohol in one of those needle-nosed squeeze bottles works nicely. And try the extender, it's good too. Ooooo, I like the painted lines. Fun! Turned out really pretty. xoxoxoxooxoxooxoxo
I wonder if you could get some cells in there you put on a canvas I think that would look pretty you need Celine solution I don’t know if I spelled that right lol😊
Those coasters are beautiful! They will go quite well with the other glasses and tray servers you have done in gold and black. Another artist I watch who does tumblers, (Michelle Cegledi) says that honeycomb or eyes can be prevented by using a coating resin. It’s thicker. Hope that helps. Blessings! Randi
I love this. When I do this on Yupo paper for card backgrounds I blow through straws to push the alcohol where I want it. I also tip it and let it run.
These turned out beautifully. They look like the graniet on my fireplace. You always do such a great job on the edges. I make such a mess. Just gorgeous Julie. 💗
I have this mold of yours and it is one of my favourites, I must use it every week for one project or other 😊. These are gorgeous, not sure I’d have the courage to try😅. Oh by the way my local Bunnings has adhesive cork on a roll. Thanks for another great video, Julie ❤
These turned out really well! It's an interesting technique you used to create these. I look forward to future experimentation projects! 🤩😍🤩 Thank you for sharing your craft with us. ☺️🙏
They turned out lovely! When you were removing the tape and there were those drops of cured resin on the plastic I was thinking that you could plan on doing a water drops project after you do a top coat project. Yes the drops are larger but in certain projects I think that would look so cool!
For blowing your alcohol inks try a squeeze puffer - eg tim holts has one but you can get a cheaper generic version- gives you more flexibility and work time 😉
Absolutely love these. Reminds me of dried leaves in the Fall! Only problem I have with your video is looks like you wasted the drips on the mat. I think you should have saved those for another project! Just as an idea!
Julie I'm liking the idea of those but I'm not so sure of all the black, I get why you had t9 use black but thought there was a tad too much. Very pretty effects though
I'm a beginner and I have learned so much from you so far! But I have a few questions. Please don't think I'm an idiot. I didn't even know what resin was I just thought things were glass or plastic! My question is I've used alcohol inks but I've been mixing them in like a normal dye. Should I not be? It looks like you're dropping them not mixing. Also I can NOT get rid of bubbles. I've tried everything and there's always 1000's of)p them no matter what I do 😢. I'm making stuff to give away. I carry little things I make with me places and if someone looks like they're really struggling with something or there a kid that's fussy I give them a little something that I've made. They always smiling when I walk away. They're always when I walk away. I would like to eventually sell some as well. When I get better at it.
Julie I have been watching your videos for over a month now trying to understand how the resin works I bought some at my local dollar store and am afraid to actually start working with it cause I don't want to mess up. The ratios bother me some I'm not great with Math can you help me out

They are truely amazing😊
All your air is going in one direction that's why it's gathering at the edge
Absolutely incredible 😍 I love them!!!

I’m wondering the same thing. Does it need to be sealed before resin top coat?
Absolutely beautiful

These are GORGEOUS 😍😍😍
When you swipe off first work, i scream Julie no no no, because it look like tree of life and it was perfect ❤️ This all is vety pretty too 🌹

I also like to use liquid latex on the back instead of tape. Peels off nicely
Very pretty 🥰

Really beautiful! Love it.

They look perfect just the way they are!

Beautiful ❤
I've been in love with metallic enamel paints since I was 10. As you said, they are like molten metal!
They look like crumble dried leaves. Cool effect 👍🏾❤️

@ Julie, they also have a black velvet felt adhesive roll which I thought might be nice on the coaster bottoms. I might try it!

Hi Julie, love these coasters and was thinking that you could perhaps paint a gold line around the rim? Should’ve waited till further in the video😁
These are beautiful
I am definitely going to try this new technique….you are such an inspiration! 💜

Polyurethane resin.

Get disposable eyeliner brushes for fine work

Hello! What do you do with all the coasters you make?
