I get that about Trumps vice presidential hopefuls turning up to be seen on camera supporting him, but surely if his children came to the courtroom every day rather than a day or two and especially if Melania his wife were to sit beside him in court and be seen to comfort and sympathies with him it would be 100 times more effective than a bunch of self serving politicians.

He could and SHOULD have done it using his personal funds, that’s not the problem. The problem is he paid the hush money to conceal the affair from the American people thus, in his mind, creating an image of himself that is less promiscuous than the pu$$γ grubber he had firmly established by that moment. Plus, the payment has been recorded as legal fees. Really, a facepalm… So, what should have been done is a correct accounting of such transaction, which would’ve been along the lines of “unlawful campaign contributions” or something. It’s significantly more complicated than that, but this might give you a rough idea…
