  • Route 66 - When it comes to new Mexico, Tucumcari has got a LOT of Route 66 punch for such a small town! And now we get to explore the Tucumcari Historical Museum and the old Tucumcari Downtown (later bypassed by 66, which was later bypassed by the I-40)
This is the continuing exploration of Tucumcari, theres a lot more here • Is this the most EPIC ...
Thanks for watching! If you liked it, Please share with someone else you think would enjoy it. :)

Actually Justin the Iron Lung known more now as a hyperbaric chamber. And many many hospitals still have them. They use them to treat a bad case of The Bends from Scuba Diving injuries and such. And for pain relief from rare neurological conditions. Hope this helps. Loving the channel. Cheers.

My grandmother grew up in Tucumcari. I showed her this video and she said that she went to school in the building that now houses the historical museum. Her father was a manager at the Crescent Creamery in town, too. She was pretty excited to see the creamery showcased in the museum and mentioned in the video. She loved seeing the refurbished train depot too. She has strong memories of riding the train from Tucumcari to Oklahoma City.
    Thanks Justin!

Thanks for the video! We were just in Tucumcari this past Memorial weekend and stayed at the Roadrunner! We didn’t have long to stay in town as we were traveling Route 66. Now we can have another reason to come back! Thanks for all your Route 66 videos, and keeping the love of Route 66 alive!

Really enjoy your Route 66 videos. Im glad you are still doing them. Im from Ontario Canada, and we travelled Route 66 from St Louis to California last winter. Ive watched all your videos on Route 66. We stayed for the night at an RV park in Tucumcari, and ate supper at the Dels. Unfortunately, the Blue Swallow was not lit up that night. Keep up the great job. Thumbs up from Canada.

That's a F-100F Super Saber, the F was the 2 seater training model of the Super Saber, so fitting its the trainer when the lady said there was a training field there in WWII. Really cool to see one in a random place like that, but it could use some TLC.

Nice vid. After many of these towns incorporated or were bypassed by a larger highway, it destroyed that kitchy vibe of these neat places. I feel lucky that I saw many of them still in business when I was a little kid in the 60's.
If you ever go through Needles, CA, see if they have a museum that has a picture of the wood bridge over the river. It was one lane and we drove over it one car at a time.

Hey, Justin, how much did the Blue Swallow charge for taking photos?
Wigwam Kumar told me that because a RV damaged the Blue Swallow sign, he did not want me to pull my travel trailer, which I pull with a SUV, it's that small and light, into his Wigwam parking lot.
Sorry to bring it up, but the thought of that fella' still riles me.
We, too, love Tucumcari. We have eaten at Kix on 66 twice.
