I never try to take wrestling personally but the ending to HIAC was so frustrating. So bad!

This comment needs more likes. I back to an episode of Dark Side of the Ring where Dutch Mantel talked about Bruiser Brody being so protective over his character. In Dutch's words, he said Brody was like that because once the people see you get beat, your character becomes "violated." That's exactly what happened to The Fiend. His character was officially violated.

@@ronaldo2k891 nope, I've been done with them since the Saudi Arabian stuff started to pick up, unsubbed from the network and haven't watched an episode of raw or smackdown since last November. The most I keep up with is just RUclips wrestling news shows. Been fully behind AEW/independents/newjapan and i know I'm not the only one. Their weekly viewership has collapsed in the last 5 years. They barely average 2mil viewers per episode, AEW debute show pulled 1.4 mil. It's not a dream anymore, Vince has his first real wrestling competitor since wcw. The whole "you'll still be watching come raw" is no longer a true statement.
Wait wait wai wait....I'll correct you there...Vince McMahon is, well, *was* , the KING of adapting...this is something many people don't realize of the Monday Night Wars, Vince didn't come up with nothing new in any of the concepts behind the Attitude Era....he ADAPTED to what everybody else was doing, plus he let many wrestlers put their creative influence behind their characters and he listened to and filtered the outlandish ideas of Vince Russo....
But a more mature product WCW was already doing with the whole NWO angle and the reaction of the rest of the roster to it. A more edgy product, with very risky, sexual, controversial themes, ECW was already doing for years (and Vince worked DIRECTLY with ECW at one point). Creatively, through the years, when he wasn't just doing something somebody else suggested to him, he came up with some very weird, unfunny, bad shit more often than not.
During the MNW Vince STOPPED creating, thank god, and started adapting. If he can do that AGAIN, he can save it. But the last time, he did once he was already was in big trouble and really didn't have a choice, because he's a very stubborn guy. But he was lucky he did it while having the best talents around, and while WCW already started to kill itself. This is *MUCH* older, *MUCH* more stubborn Vince McMahon. Can he do it again if times ask for it? I don't see it....
@@ronaldo2k891 Not necesseraly. I already don't watch the TV shows and at times do when I read something interesting happened, or something so bad it has to be seen to be believed. And even in THOSE cases I only watch those segments, and never live. I do watch close to the entire show for special episodes or for episodes hyped to be "the beginning of a new era", which usually are not that or anything interesting, so at one point I won't do that anymore either. Why should I? It takes a lot of time I can use for else, including other wrestling products....this is not the early 2000s, there's tons of better wrestling out there, AEW is only the last one to come up.
Now I don't think this was Russo levels of stupid. It was just poor booking stupid.

Also not to clog up the comment section but this one really just brought me down. I have loved bray Wyatt since his debut on the main roster in 2013. The man has so much star potential. His gimmicks have always been so cool to me from the cult leader, the eater of worlds, and now the fiend. Yes I know his gimmick did get a little stale there for awhile but anyways I’ve watched this company constantly shit on this man for years now. He’s been in the company as bray for six years now and he’s had one wwe title run that is pretty much forgotten by everyone. The amount of time and creation bray put into this fiend character and to already have the company shit on it. I honestly don’t know where you take the fiend from here because the crowds aren’t going to know what to make of him after last night....

I think it actually makes sense that the reason they had that finish is because the fiend is moving to smackdown, and seth is staying on raw. Becky is also staying on raw and they try to keep couples together and it makes sense for fox wanting the fiend.

roman bryan vs rowan harper was my match of the night, nice to see a tag team actually standing strong in a fight against two top stars, even though they didnt win no one came out of that looking worse than before
So I'll tune in to wrestletalk to see what's goin on with the main roster, I'm going stick with AEW and NXT for a while

Hell in the Cell's ending was the last nail in the coffin for me with the red and blue brands. I've had my fill of my wrestlers getting buried. Hopefully Vince doesn't get his damn hands on NXT and ruins it.
I came from the future and Vince got NXT and made it NXT 2.0 sad to say.

At first I liked the presentation of Rollins/Bray, it was like a horror movie where anything you throw at the villain, they won't go down, unless you catch him by surprise like when Rollins hit Bray with the steps......... but then OMG call the Young Bucks because Rollins killed the super kick with that Superkick Party(I counted 7 million) and then at the end I was thinking ik Bray is going to pop up after the sledgehammer shot to the head, and then a ref stoppage finish which lead me to exit out of the network
The only way they can save this is they say bray didn’t care about the universal title and they say That Rollins anger and how low Rollins went to try and retain Was him lettin the fiend in

Honestly this is why I didn’t want the match between Seth and the Fiend to happen. The Fiend didn’t really need a championship match straight away, the could of just done another storyline like the one with Balor and wait till a heel had the Championship or a Face who isn’t protected as much as Seth.
I can see why wwe doesn’t want the Fiend to be the champion and I somewhat agree with it because someone who can be present on the show every week and do promos/interviews would be a better choice as the main champion (also cause the main champ usually does most of the meet n greets with kids) and this wouldn’t be really good for the Fiends character.
The best end for me would of been- The Fiend wins but doesn’t take the title because he just wanted to hurt Seth and then on Raw make the title vacant and have a tournament for it or something (maybe Seth could win it again as a redemption)

WWE booked The Fiend as an absolute monster during the match, taking weapon shots, going through tables, immediately getting up from hard hits...then had him lose by knockout. Must admit, I was absolutely howling at the end of the match LOL
Once one of the commentators said "what does the Fiend want? It's as if he doesn't even want to win the title he just wants to destroy Seth Rollins, the face of the company" I thought: guess he's not winning the belt lol

They should make the 24/7 Championship Belt mean something other then comedy. How about "If you win it 25 times" or "Hold it for two months or so," they get a match for the IC or European belt or something like that, then reset the belt holder. Make it worth something. People will be intrigued.

I agree with almost everything you guys said here, except that Seth was mad at the fans and not the booking. His best friend (and co-owner of his wrestling school) tweeted out today basically saying "sometimes you're asked to do things you don't want to do", referencing Seth. I know you guys aren't big fans of his, but really we have no idea what his thoughts were in that moment. This is his job and I've seen too many people online blaming him as if he booked the match. I'm pretty sure if he did book the match, he wouldn't have had The Fiend kick out of his finisher at a 1-count and then no-sell 10 more.
Like what Steve from Going in Raw said...Fiend supposed to be like a horror movie baddie....No matter what, he comes coming after you...

The Fiend should have won convincingly and tomorrow Bray comes out with the title and says something like, "I found this in the Funhouse today. I'm not sure it belongs to me so here you go!" Hands it to an official waves at the crowd and leaves.
They could have got out of the match by having Seth injured on Friday and unable to compete and had one of Seth's friends run out and try to save him, setting up a different match for Sunday. I mean they planned over half the show at the last minute so what difference would it make if the main event got changed last minute?

So, I'm in the minority that *really* liked the main event, and I thought I'd share what I sent my friend who did not like the match. Just to give a different opinion to stew over:
"Aside from the neck snap not killing Rollins and the fact that no DQ should mean no DQ, I actually really enjoyed everything about the match. How I took it: The Fiend's motivation wasn't the title, it was to break Seth Rollins, physically or mentally. He took Seth so far over the edge that Seth basically attempted to kill the Fiend, which the ref figured was well beyond the rules of the match. It's one thing to injure a man; it's another to stand there in the middle of the ring and bash his head in with a sledgehammer, and the ref decided that trying to prevent murder was more important than finishing a wrestling match. The Fiend was never kept down; he kept getting back up from more and more punishment, and ultimately he stood tall. In fact, Seth may have retained, but he did not win. He was pushed so far beyond his limits, and then after that he was basically killed anyways. A sister abigail to the concrete, the mandible claw to his bloodied mouth, that was a sick image. Ultimately, on its own, I'm ok with how everything played out, with those things I mentioned earlier not being enough to sour it all for me. I'm more interested in seeing how this'll play out in the long run."

The ending of HIAC was good actually because Bray Wyatt’s goal was to bring out the demons of Seth Rollins so that in the end it goes against him because he ( Wyatt) does not care about the universal title, in a previous Firefly Fun House, he said that the story can be repeated horribly, it referred to the ambrose / rollins match in 2014 in the HIAC because ambrose let his demons to go out and finally turn against him (wyatt attacked him by intervening), and if you wonder why Wyatt challenged Rollins for a HIAC match, it’s because he knows there is a dark side in rollins and egocentric that Wyatt wanted to get out and he was successful, Wyatt did not stop calling him "my FrIEND" because he knew that Rollins could be awful by letting his demons go out, the HIAC is not home to Wyatt even though he could make it his home but he chose to do what I explained previously, Wyatt didn't need to use the HIAC structure to look dominant, he doesn't need it, he looked stronger than even before after the end of the match. FIEND FRIEND, Fans must think deeply before overreacting. LET HIM IN
I am a loyal wwe watcher for 20 years. My family watches. It's a tradition that we get together for every ppv for the last 12 years. And this is the first time I've been so upset with a decision that I have considered stopping watching. I sat through wasted potential after poor booking for years but always stayed loyaly by the product because there was something I enjoyed enough to keep me there. The feind was a ones in a life time character something that transcended the week to week product something truly spectacular and special. And to so monumentally waste that with this showing of the character is horrible and seriously makeing me question my love for the sport.
I'd like to add something, they did come to help bray. In his entrance it said "the fiend bray wyatt" the first time he came out it was just the feind against balor. Slight difference, but it does make a difference. That's why the ref stopped it cus it's bray still, he's just deranged and whatnot

If a person had a sign which read Colby Daniel Lopez sucks then it would be fine for Seth to take it as a personal attack at him, but Seth Rollins is a fictional character created in a writing room, Colby Daniel Lopez simply plays that character, I don't think Arnold would get offended if someone had a sign which said "The T-800 was a bad robot"
I enjoyed Fiend v. Rollins, it had a few old school horror movie tropes in the match that reminded me of those slasher flicks. The belt should've nvr had the belt on the line. When has Freddy/Jason ever cared about personal accolades!?!

As much as the ending sucked, I attributed it more to a team, trying to mold a horror movie into a live wrestling environment, which I can image that being much harder than what WWE typically has to create. Bad? Sure, but I won't get bent about it. I still want to see how this moves forward!!

It made no sense to have Bray go for the Universal Title this early. It should have been built over 2 or 3 years.
When Arnold Skalland threw in the towel for Bob Backlund, The referee stopped the match, and the Iron Sheik was awarded the title.
