I could sit there all day staring and enjoying the beauty of the courtyard with a simple but elegant Japanese style, especially the very high quality kois supported by a traditional pond design, without a glass mirror which actually displays the koi in its weakest side, namely from the side, good job mate , lovely pond lovely kois lovely garden... ❤️❤️
Wow,I miss our Koi pond back in Oulton Broad, now I’m stuck with a bloody bland and bare yard in this bloody forsaken Hot Texas heat.I wish I had you to help me do a pond again over here,it would definitely help me with my sad issues from combat and the military.
Wow that black bottom on the pond absolutely makes the koi Pop, doesn't it? Immediately notice the quality and beautiful flawless body shape of the koi!!!!
If there was such a thing as a TV series on koi and the keepers it should be yours mate. Another good viewing for 20 odd minutes. Nice garden Paul. Mine will be finished soon.
Loved the fish. Mine are mongrels compared to them. I purchased my first Bonsai last year - an evergreen Chinese elm. It lost its leaves - could’nt make it up. They have started to slowly grow back in the recent warm weather. It’s good to see other people’s gardens which can be inspiring.
Thank you for the demonstration! It is the first time I have seen a scrape taken ,(I did one earlier today on one of my fish but I didn't lift them out of the water so I probably won't have anything that I can see on the slide. I need to buy one of those baskets
Yes excellent this is like a great tv show for koi, unlike so called pond you tuber claims "ponds dune right!" These are real koi ponds dune right! Thanks again I enjoy these!
Tim if you did a question and answer, my question would be what would give you more satisfaction a pond full of koi brought within that size or a pond like that with fish grown to that size ? My answer would be in the middle i doubt you could buy koi that small 6 inch say and grow them to be that stunning so id grow some buy some 😀
Making Japan a home from home. Lovely garden and absolutely stunning fish. My favourite one was the first Showa, love seeing black on a koi 👍🏻 keep the vids coming guys...
Hiya Tim new subscriber from Warrington great vlog Paul's pond looks fantastic currently building a bigger pond will definitely be giving your place a visit for some koi 👍
There are many varieties of acer some will quickly develop into large trees, others will remain small. Have a look at a specialist nursery site for some inspiration - I'd recommend Bluebells arboretum & nursery. They don't have to be expensive either, I picked up an acer palmatum from Wilcos for a couple of quid that grew like a rocket !
These fish are amazing, I have lost koi when they have jumped out of the pond, have you ever had this problem, I now leave a fine netting on top, it does hinder the view of the fish a touch.
Wow Paul, that is one awesome collection you have there. Something to be very proud of 👍🏻 A few questions - How deep is the pond? - what temp do you keep them at during winter?
Is the drum cleaning cycle the only water exchange happening? Any idea on amount and frequency of water changes on this pond? Been researching koi, basically every source would say this pond is overstocked. In my aquariums I run live plants and do weekly 50% water changes to compensate for overstocking.
Don’t forget the drum cleans multiple times per hour so the pond is getting lots of water changes. Also on this particular pond there is a constant trickle. The bio chamber has a lot of K1 so sticking isn’t an issue.
just subbed to you bud love the content and as always, stunning fish 👍 I'm currently building a 4000L indoor pond from wood so I can finally keep koi! cheers for the inspiration Tim 👌
Hi mate my names oscar I’m 16 and I have a real passion for koi and fish tanks and ponds and I wondered if there were any jobs going as I’d love to work with these beautiful fish and learn more
Great video as always. Any theories on the fish not being happy? I see a few koi keepers up and down the country seeing unusual behaviour from their koi that doesn’t appear to be parasite related, I am wondering if the water boards have been adding chemicals due to the current pandemic which is irritating the fish. Any thoughts or theories at all?
Jamie Saunders when ponds heated, or not heated some Koi just don’t like the Spring changes, also big females go through many complicated issues regarding the eggs and that cycle.
Bloody hell welcome to Japan very surprise about the bonsai being out all year never fort they would survive the uk dreadfulness beautiful garden ! Would love see it at night with all the lights on photo maybe? .. what's sercuity like when having ponds like this they money value in koi in that pond has got be quite abit not only that hes had them for 20 odd years ? Do you get koi thefts or not? .. cheers for paul allowing the video
Hi ya new subscriber to your channel, I’m returning to koi keeping after a few years of not keeping koi , that’s a beautiful garden and koi however I’m struggling to see the point of drums and nexus filters !! Because on many videos I see that there is use for manual hands dirty work and even jet washers used !! I thought the whole reason behind these filters was to avoid dirty work any advice would be grateful as I’m currently rebuilding great channel though regards Matt .
Quality Nishikigoi thanks for the reply I understand that when you have koi and water your gonna have always spend time on maintaining your system. However my concern is I’m seeing videos where people are using jet washers on them if that’s the case I’d rather use traditional filters that I’m familiar with and save money if that makes sense. Although I do like the nexus range
I just wash my Nexus about once a year just to get stubborn algae off the sides. Not all of them, just the ones with no lids on at the shop to show people how they work. The ones with a lid on I do every 2 years. Some never do.
Quality Nishikigoi hi ya thanks again I’m definitely considering one could you tell me what the maintenance valve is for obviously maintenance but I’m what way is it used ?
Hi,.. why you put another glas on thé microscoop glas, if the Fish has parasites you kill them to put the glass on top. When you dont do that you will see them better because they are moving. Thats what i learned
Maybe its just me but I think these sterile, overstocked, artificially airated fish holding tanks with all the machinery are not my cup of tea... If you really want a pond, do it the right way, with bog filtration, plants and sensible amount of fish. Create a bit of nature in your garden instead of a bare fish holding tank...
That’s all very good. Would you put them in there where they can easily damage? Would you put Koi up to £6000.00 each in there? Koi that are bred for a purpose of developing the bloodline and growing properly?
@@TimWaddington I understand these are display tanks - I just said I like the natural look much better - and I am sure the koi would like it also, and be just as safe as in these tanks. But then you may not be able to see them all the time. Or show them off. But again, none of my business, some ppl. have expensive hobbies, some collect expensive cars or paintings etc. I would never spend that amount of money on a single fish (or any ornamental item) just because it is colored nicely (no offense, just my opinion, coming from a poor eastern EU family, struggling to even get my own home at the age of 33...). When I build my own pond, it will be a place to relax, to enjoy nature - not a place to show off my expensive fish.
Steve white Leicester. What a lovely set up. And stunning fish.

If there was such a thing as a TV series on koi and the keepers it should be yours mate. Another good viewing for 20 odd minutes. Nice garden Paul. Mine will be finished soon.
I guess it is kind of randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch newly released movies online ?
@Garrett Mateo I use FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Konnor Ari Yea, I've been watching on flixzone for years myself :)
@Konnor Ari Thank you, I went there and it seems to work :) I appreciate it!!

Wow Paul, that is one awesome collection you have there. Something to be very proud of 👍🏻
A few questions
- How deep is the pond?
- what temp do you keep them at during winter?
Just over 5 feet deep. He never lets the pond drop below 12C and he covers in winter
amazing fish & trees quality
🙏🏻
awesome pond

Hi mate my names oscar I’m 16 and I have a real passion for koi and fish tanks and ponds and I wondered if there were any jobs going as I’d love to work with these beautiful fish and learn more
Very nice garden and pond Paul. I like the pagoda over the pond - where did you get / how did you make? those curved roof beams?
A joinery company made it to Paul’s design
@@TimWaddington thanks for the info - they did a nice job.
Wow! That first Showa is a Beauty! What's the uv, looks Huge? Thanks for sharing Guy's
If you ever want someone to edit a thumbnail for you or anything like that I don't mind. Might help boost your channel :) Love the videos.

There are no totally maintenance filters I’m afraid. Some service is always needed. Automation takes a lot away but still have to do some work.

@@TimWaddington Must be such an impressive sight, thx :)

Great content as usual. Only one negative - no artsy, fartsy music 🤣
Haha I was under pressure to get it out!
Dont tell me what to do unless you ready?
tiny LOL

so your catching them just to look at them yet that's what they're bred for? ie seeing in the pond without catching them.
We took a scrape to check for parasites too
