Hi Jules, Zeiss always made wonderful lenses and the zf2 line is outstanding. The only issue is that you need a adaptor if you want to use these AIs mount on Z series which makes these already heavy lenses not so well balanced on an hybrid camera. I recently discovered what I would call a real jewel : the voigtlander 40mm f1.2 Z mount. It’s full metal, have a aperture ring which 1/3 stops, a fantastic focusing ring( as smooth as a Leica for those who knows) , of course a metal bayonet (which put the Nikon SE line in the toy world, shame on you Nikon) and at fast aperture it gives a very delicate diffusion of light giving it a old look (but still sufficiently sharp) and when you close after f2.8 it s a rather modern lens with sharpness and contrast. In short the best of the 2 worlds in one lens. Finally it gets a retro look with its full metal focus ring ( like the first auto Nikon lenses which I personnaly loves) which is exactly what a Nikon Zf needs. I do think it will be my first lens on my Zf to make pictures for pleasure. The 40mm is a very good and rather unknown focal which is larger than 50mm ( I definitely find the 50mm too narrow) and a little longer the 35mm which makes it better for large portraits. It also permits to reach very fast apertures and keeps a good bokeh (equivalent to a 50mm f1.4) and for me since I discovered it, it s my best universal lens. So if as me you like wellmade and very efficient tool, try it and I am sure you will keep it. Note that for Zf users with the unique capability of the Zf to focus using the green rectangular confirmation , you more or less forget it s a manual lens and you focus very quickly. Have a nice day.

I wasn’t familiar with this lens, but after reading your comments I looked at the specs. It’s only 11 ounces, which is amazing for a 1.2 lens. Seems like a great option. As always thanks for watching and your comments.

Try the 25 f2, it's different than the 2.8, all zeiss f2 are of a specific rendering i.e. the 28,35 are 'hollywood' lenses, the 2.8 is more comparable with the c/y
