It's obligatory to stretch "madd" equivalent to the length of two "alif".... However we can stretch the "madd Al Far'i " for up to 6 alifs. The madd at the end of ayaat (ا، و،ي with a jazm/sukoon makes it "madd Al Asli") is must to be stretched for at least 2 alif (which Sheikh is doing), but when you are doing "waqf" on the alphabet joint with a madd Al Asli (يعملون...) ,It becomes madd Al Far'i which can be stretched upto 6 alifs Edit: Stretching madd Al Far'i is more than 2 alifs is not compulsory... Stretching madd Al Asli (انما الصدقات للفقراااااء) is compulsory..
