genericjanedoe Nahh Brett and Bernard were both driving forces and together created music brilliantly, the band changed after Bernard left and they were right to explore new sounds, but it was never quite the same charm as their early work. Coming Up was still a great record though. Brett was being very disingenuous here saying ‘one person leaving’ wouldnt change the band, he’s since said so much how important Bernard was.
Bernard will always be important as foudation but Coming Up holds its own with their two first albums. Always disliked how people talk about Oakes as a guitar player. The only reason he's not given more praise is because Suede's musical direction was a disaster for Oakes creative output. Neil and Brett's collaboration left him fucked forced to sit to the side
Man, the interviewer really did make a fool of herself. Her fawning over Neil is kind of cute, but at least wait until the cameras are off to do that. I personally feel they should never have recruited Neil into the band.. It was totally unnecessary to do so. I'm not against Neil, but Richard Oakes never had a chance to properly shine because of the song writing partnership of Brett and Neil. That, and it seems like they only got him in as a Sid Vicious type figure..
Maybe that's why they don't get bigger,in my opinion they are wasted not as bright as the career of the other bands like Duran- Duran, Cranberries and Oasis which are famous all over the world..they ignore the power of Richard talent...
The filming of the Common People music video was postponed because Suede were sat on the dancefloor being interviewed.
Neil IS WAYYY TOOO GORGEOUS and it's simply painful....Cheek Bone Beauty!!
neil neil neil, he is so cute
Oasis and Blur have nothing on Suede. Never have, never will.
Very true! Suede is much better than them!
I agree and I absolutely love Oasis and Blur.

I think Neil is really shy.
Ahh I remember having to do that coursework! Hope it went well!
1:37 "I always thought that Suede had a life to it; one person leaving wasn't actually going to ditch that" - oh come on, Brett IS suede!
