She came at you like a dart! Great work on the video slo-mo. Watching you open a trap for the first time is almost as exciting as opening mine! Like opening a present. I have got to convince you to start putting 30lb fishing line in those open frames. No more culling new comb or worrying that itll fall out.
Great vid Joey! I've caught a lot of my own swarms out of the trees, but I've never caught any kind of swarm in a trap. I've got four of them set now. Fingers crossed!!
Well good morning Joey, mug up from central NH, where it is 24 degrees and snowing. I awoke to 5" on the ground and a storm total is predicted to be around 19'. Ah, New Hampshire, it ain't spring yet. Ok, show me some bees please. Thanks Joey, now it's time to shovel some snow before it gets too deep...6" now....Take care, Brice
Hey Joey Lots of “false alarms” on my traps (same model as you are using) over the last 2 weeks but finally I believe that bees have finally moved in for good in 4 of them this week. 42F this morning in Baldwin County,AL I’ll be watching your progress reports as always. Appreciate the time you put in to share your experience with your viewers. I know your efforts have certainly helped me the last few years. Tommy Burt
I have seen scout bees really busy in boxes that are in the same location and it will be the same swarm. As soon as they decide where they want to go the activity will stop, until the next colony of bees get ready to swarm. Thanks for the kind words.
I have had 2 swarms in the yard already. Don't know if they are mine or just showed up. LoL i had several come to my yard last year that had marked queens i Don't mark mine. Congratulations on the catch.
Enjoy your videos. I've caught one small swarm in "flower pot" trap and missed one hanging on neighbor's fence post (somehow missed getting queen) so it's been pretty active for this early in the year. I live in west central Texas, so I'm in a cooler growing zone than you--zone 8. I have a long hive I'm planning on trying this year. Do your inner cover boards rest on top bar of frames? Looks like they do. I was wondering about the bee space. Also, what's the purpose of the wood strips on top of the cover boards? Keep those videos coming! Thanks.
Thank you. The first long hives I build had a small space between the top bar and cover and they would propolis them too much. The other have 3/8 space and it works better.
Hi Joey. I’ve managed to get really lucky so far this year catching 9 swarms using the same model trap you use. What are your thoughts about re-baiting the traps again and putting them right back to the same spot? Would I chance catching a weaker swarm on the 2nd round?
Sometimes I will put the box back after I remove the bees. I like to give it a couple days for any bees left behind to go back to the mother hive. Sometimes it will catch a swarm from another colony and sometime maybe an after swarm. This is why I like to but two boxes in the same area when I can.
Always enjoy your swarm installations Joey. Thank for taking us along.
Thank you for watching.
I always look forward to your videos especially the swarm ones🙂
Thank you.
Those long hives look more and more appealing when I see people work in them….
You need to go ahead and build you a couple.
Not a bad little swarm. Thanks Joey!
Thanks. The very next brood I pull will probably go to them.
Good morning Joeythat was a great video.thank you

Lol Yes she did. Like opening a present or a box of chocolates. I have the fishing line and frame wire and Ive been too lazy to install it.

Thank you. They come in handy around the bee yards for those escapees. Good luck.
I’m the same way Joey. I figure it out as I go. Great looking queen. Great video sir.
Sometimes that's the only way we can do it. Thank you.

Good catch. Good luck with it.
Thank you.
You should have left them in there for a month or two then you could have scraped burr comb for a week like Mike does. LOL Nice catch Joey.
Yeah, I've been there done that. lol Thank you.
Great video Joey
Thank you.
Nice catch Joseph!!!! I've had scouts but nobody has moved in....yet!!!!
Thank you. Anticipation!

Thank you. I have always believed bee yards draw swarms.

Got you a nice Botox treatment I see. Nice swarm!
She just ran bumped me but never stung.
