my first experience of seeing pro tennis live was at the 2018 US Open. I had just gotten off the plane, after a 5 1/2 hour flight overnight, from California, then rented a car at the New Jersey airport and drove to Flushing Meadows. First thing I did was buy a coffee (iced of course; 2018 was hot!), and I strolled about, admiring everything, with the outside of Arthur Ashe stadium standing over everything. I strolled a bit, then turned a corner - I saw there was some bleachers, but didn't know if anyone was playing on that court at all. As soon as I turned the corner, and saw the court, and the players on it - .... yep, there was Dominika Cibulkova! Literally 15 feet away. I was so stunned! - to see this star player, who was on quite a lot of highlights (she is not Serena, or Maria Sharapova status, but she is quite a star of WTA tennis). And not only was she right there before me, to the point where I could speak to her, no question. But she looked over at me - right into my face - and we made eye contact. It was so eerie. I guess I stood out because of how shocked I was in that moment. I just hope I didn't stand out cuz I was weird looking. Lol! Hsieh Su-Wei - when they changed sides - also looked right at me, right into my face. She was smiling ironically about one of the mistaken calls by a linesperson. It was awesome. ... But it makes me so sad - that was one of the last real US Opens! :'( Now everything is utterly insane. I pray to God that it rights itself. We don't deserve this. We are all "fallen," of course; but we are made in the image of God; we do not deserve to be disrespected and harassed like this - by OTHER PEOPLE! Perhaps we can fix their countries for them and they will relent on us.

I know everybody loves a winner and as long as you're winning people thinks you're great and s nice person. But take away the glossy sugar coating you're not a role model as you're a cheat and unsportsmanlike at the very least. Fight hard but fight fair.

Why do athletes from other than anglo-american background always give up and adopt the wrong english pronounciation of their name bastardised by commentators instead of saying their own name right? It is supplicating and doesn't really serve anyone.
It's like Andy Murray saying "My name is Andrij Muraj and this is my story."

@wilson alexander wtf? Everyone has worked hard. There is not one player in the top 100 who doesn't work hard. But most of them also have sportsmanship, fairness, character. Those are things Cibulkova lacks.

lickos83 I totally agree. What she did and said in her match against Hsieh Su Wei and her attitude in the post match press conference of Wimbledon 2018 were utterly scandalous and clearly demonstrated how unsportsmanlike she’s. Absolutely no respect for her.

She said: "If I really really want something in my life I did it". Verb syntax error. But this is not true. She wanted a GS and... Her husband looks (physical and manners) like a procurer, just waiting for the money.
