@@tomingram5130 Definitely.. After having to ride the 2T 3 wheeled golden chariot.. Boothy deserves a decent bike, and a budget YZF750 would fit perfectly 👍🏼
I do really love the original BBB, although they might need to drop a B as I’m pretty sure these may now be becoming contenders for the most someone has ever spent on an absolute shitter lol.
Always fun seeing a critical part fail... I'd honestly tried to Tig weld it, but having another one on hand would make me keep the weed one for spare parts.
Whoa...lucky break getting that spare swing arm...though arguably bad luck the old one was cracked, I suppose. Looking forward to seeing this all nice and done.
WAS THAT A FART YOU SQUEEZED OFF AT PRECISELY 7:06??? I'm in the states and that's why I love you guys. I'm a 61 yr old juvenile that goes out and does "irresponsible" things on my mt10. Go ahead, just click on that blue 7:06 time stamp about 5 times in a row and laugh your arse off! Great content gentlemen....lol.
Those bearing on the linkage had gone on mine as well. Had to go to a engineering shop to get them sized up as koyo did not make them any more. Had to get the spacing tube as well. Here is some advice if you have not replaced bearings before. Measure how deep they sit as a lot of the bearings do not bottom out. You need to be precise when installing them.
Yep, sometimes when installing you want to bottom them out others you want to mount flush, knowing which is what is the pictures you took before dismantling.
The first BBB made me buy my first bike and i bought an srad 750 🤘 and got the k5/6 headers after that episode you talked about it. With a modified k3/4 titanium midpipe the exhaust is about half the weight and sounds amazing. But It melted the fairings a bit but f**k that 😆
yessss more srad zx7r stuff😍 the 90's bikes are the best, so much for less money, at germany a really really good srad or zx7r costs arround 2,5 k and this is the injection version of the srad..who needs more?
James. Everything is always better with James. Then you add the magic of Derek and a bit of Bonno and you've got yourself a must watch episode! Love this series. 😎👍
I remember riding a brand new '99 SRAD750 it was amazing how easy it would go light on front end and handle & brake like a demon. Hard to believe it's over 20yrs ago. However the 2000/01 R1 was the bike for me. In fact I wish I still had one today. The only bike I never modified.
Fuck that, I'm expecting a full on SRAD Vs ZX7R Vs whatever Boothy can bring to the party, 5 or 6 episode tour with track time, James Holland and some serious gazeeboage on the way. It's gonna happen ITS GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!!!
I bought a 2nd hand ohlins shock for my 06 gsxr 1000,, as I'd rang to price a shock, luckily he had one serviced and sitting,, got it for £500 with a hydraulic preloaded adjuster,,,, loving this series on the bikes ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️from Northern Ireland, especially as James is a suzuki man
Alright I'm just going to be blunt and say this. The last BBB with the whacky bikes and the UK trip was not fun to watch, I watched it all and it was probably the least fun BBB so far. But this, this is it. You might think I'm a nut but this is how it started, vlog style, first person, some banter at JHS, nothing too elaborate or whacky. Just plain old quality 44 teeth. Hope to see more of this type of video in this BBB. :)
My cbr929rr will be in this state in my next video. I just got a rear link myself. Bushings are thankfully a bit less tatty than the SRAD. Keep up the great work lads, cheers.
You're not having much luck with the SRAD, Al. Hopefully the rear suspension shitfest will be where the real problems start & finish. I wonder how Perkin's luck is doin' with the ZX7R? I hope it's in a better state than mine was when I bought it!
and, no shit, I was literally sitting there watching a Moto America race on RUclips thinking about if I should sell my R1 to get....... an SRAD, when this video alert popped up.
Literally every UK bike 10+ years old has a seized swingarm, or at least some of the shock linkage bearings/plates will be seized. Weather + salt + humidity just fricking kills them. Quite often you see a swing arm bearing seized or near seized, so then the load goes into the swingarm instead of through the bearing = stress and eventually cracks. Had one (11 year old bike!!) on a test ride from a used dealer, one half of swing arm snapped causing rear wheel to fly across to one side, was nearly ended that day under some truck wheels. Check your bearings/swing arm condition every few years, unless you live in south of France, in which case your probably good for double that lol.
Budget bikes to buy but if you factor in labour and parts not so budget bikes been there with a money pit of my own end up selling for less just because the stress of fixing one thing and finding another wasn't right pissed me off.
"You buys cheap you buys twice" yep specially when you do not know exactly what is wrong with whatever you buy and not just with 2nd hand motorbikes. There is no way you'd find the crack on the swingarm unless you open her up. Also, always enjoy a James and workshop video. Its like a documentary of the daily life of JHS.
Just our of curiosity, whatever happened with the BBB Re-load series? Did you guys have a trip in mind that got canceled due to travel restrictions? Do you still plan on another adventure with the SRAD & ZX-7 in the future?
What camera did you film this with? AF out of wack sometimes, but nice shallow DOF on closeups! You lot have just perfected this casual way of story telling and editing. Looks effortless, bet you a lot that it's very far from it.
Golden rule: you buy cheap, you buy twice. This series is entertaining and painful to watch in the same time😅. I’ll never ever buy a budget bike though. I don’t have a budget for it.
So then me old fruit bat I have a dilemma 6k-8k 765 street triple (lacking the holigan?) Mt10 (looks like a 50yr old crackhead+cheap build) SDR (is it too heavy and purely good for wheelie?) 690 SMC R(riot but will it get boring running out of puff on A roads?) Tuono (I was left wanting more asbo on a short test ride) Gsxs 1000 (surprised me but tried it along time ago)
Always love a JHS episode! We need another 'tip of the week' bit from James 👍
Agreed, more!!!
Agreed
"He never tells you anything wrong, then again he might not always be right" is some Sun Tzu level wisdom.
It's the utter deadpan delivery that made it.
About to watch but let me be the first to say.. "WE'VE BEEN WAITING ON THIS!" SRAD/ZX7R the legendary, original & best BBB series! 👊 Can't wait!
I agree, these are the videos I'm most excited for 😁😁
Agreed, that original BBB is the funniest.
feel like boothy should be part of the series now on a Yamaha yzf750r, not really gonna get a Honda vfr750 rc30 on a budget 😂

As a mechanic it always makes me laugh when people spray the head of the bolt with penetrating fluid and expect that to do anything lol.
Indeed! 👍 It's even more amusing when it's not actually a proper penetrating fluid being deployed... 😉
As a totally non mechanically minded biker , I’d imagine that sounds fair enough !! 🤣🙈
I love all things 44T, BBB and JHS. I full on belly laugh watching these.
Rodney is a national treasure. We must protect that man at all costs 😉
Send that shock to me, I'll test it on the shock dyno before and after a rebuild. I'll even let you have the video rights 😀

these shop vids are always comfy
We need more of this fellas!
Serious work still to be done, can't wait to see the follow up from Chris' bike next.
Do more of these I love them.
Ohh "You buy em cheep, you buy em twice" Sounds like something spoken from experience.
Sounds like the truth.
Smiled all the way through this funny and very charming episode. Thank you gentlest of men!

Love these workshop videos

It's good, but 12 minutes wasn't enough to hit the vinegar stroke....more please!!!
Swingarm cracks, pah! Welcome to 90's Ducati land - Weld em up!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Always keep.my eye out for the old classic Brit stunners in the background at John's shop.
Not disappointed this week...
Love seeing this taking shape !
Those swingarm cracks have me worried…
Oww .. my eyeballs hurt from that ‘focus’. Great content enjoyed it when my head didnt complain.
Rodney was a blur of action - 44t has another star !

I would love to see a mini-BBB season with the rebuilt ZX7 and SRAD, maybe a simple 2 part trackday in spain or something

Absolutely lovin these videos at JHS im gagging for this next episode of the swing arm!
Great stuff, love these BBB rebuilds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He Al, are you sure James didn't sell you your own swing arm?? 🤣🤣

Looking forward to the new SRAD episode ! ... in 5 months ;)

I fitted a 14 plate gixer 1000 rear shock on mine went straight in is adjustable for height as well transformed the bike , night and day

Rear brake caliper mount on swinger, ditch the brake arm to frame, that will do it.Maybe plate bracing either side of swinger, should be sweeeeeeeeet.
