Firstly, thank you David for featuring SxS game guns as often as you do - it's the reason I visit your channel weekly. I've owned a Beretta 12 bore Silver Pigeon, and a Browning 12 bore Citori, and shot a number of lovely Italian competition under/overs owned by friends; and while they were fine guns for money spent, I have considerably more fun shooting my AyA 12 bore #1 sidelock ejector, 1968 Webley & Scott 12 bore 700 boxlock ejector, and recent purchase AyA 20 bore #4 rounded action boxlock ejector - all of which are stocked to my dimensions, fitted by Dale Tate, formerley J. Purdey & Sons. Ken Davies at Holland & Holland taught me how to shoot traditional game guns over thirty years ago, and I've never had the desire to shoot another under/over since . . . The British perfected the SxS game gun form in the 19 century, and to my eye no other shotgun is as handsome to behold and pleasant to shoot; so, why kill a beautiful bird with an ugly gun?
There's something to be said about a gun who's design came from the most iconic person in firearms history too. There's no telling exactly how old the design of the o/u sat in Browning's head but had never completed it because he was too busy designing for the military.
I’m in the US and I have grown quite found of OU’s over the last 5 years. 2 years ago I then fell in love with SXS’s. I absolutely love the using a sxs for upland hunting. I still haven’t become found of using a double for waterfowl hunting, but maybe one day.
Two aspects re SXS. If you happen to have a cross eye dominance issue or even if like myself, you have a right dominant eye (and are right handed) yet your left eye is stronger than your right at far distance, the SXS overcomes the potential problems this can randomly cause on some shots with an O/U by preventing your left eye from annoyingly "taking over" and causing you to focus to the left side of your O/U barrels causing a miss. The other aspect, never talked about, is that on crossing birds which are climbing many O/U shooters (including myself) often forget to slant their body to mimic the deflected angle above the horizon, causing them to shoot low under the bird. The wider barrels of a SXS flowing through a bird from behind will "automatically" cause you to tilt slightly to match the birds angle of deflection and this makes crossing birds easier to kill consistently.
Well, ive got two over/unders but i would love to own a side by side. They are so nostalgic and elegant. I once shot a SbS from the 1870's! It was a real pleasure shootinig it.A friend bought it for just €17.
I'm an SxS guy, absolutly! I love my Browning BSS! Beautiful SxS gun, but has some modern touch, pistol grip and single trigger...and I've the stock revised & adjusted for me, with a nice oil finish instead of the original varnish.
This July I've taken part in the shooting competition of my city's hunting society, where people should have shown their clay shooting skills with whatever shotgun they own. Most people carried either semiautos or O/Us, only three or four men including me took their SxSs (all soviet-made 12 GA), and one guy took his Saiga that was banging like an AA cannon. It kinda saddened me that people don't appreciate the SxS style that much anymore. On the other hand I'm the weird fella who wants to order some shooting tweeds in the country where tweed suit never was a common hunting garment
I started shooting clays with an O/U (trap) then onto an Auto for SC. Went back to O/Us for SC, then picked up a SXS for SXS shoots. Now I'm hooked on SXS and now have 9 proper shotguns,
I own a Benelli Supersport semi auto,a classic ultra light Winchester (which kicks like a mule) a Baikel, don't laugh at it,it shoots so much better than people will believe and a AYA number 4 sbs which also kicks like a mule on 28 grams. Best fun gun for a change, from the other 3, is the AYA,I use 24 grams in that. It has a full custom stock that came with it, nearly 1/34 inches of right hand cast and shoots like a dream
Nice video. Would be good to see a video where you look at the difference between an AYA #2 and a #56 and an English game gun and a pigeon gun. I only shoot clays (I hunt with rifles)
I wonder whether there would be a video on break action shotgun stock types. I want to order the replacement set of wood for my gun and can't really decide which kind of a stock grip I like more and whether it should have a cheekrest
I’m going out for rabbit and own a Stoeger uplander 12gauge 28inch barrel but also own a Steven’s silver 555 over under in 20gauge.. I’m torn between which one would be best for winter rabbits
Over and under seperates the target into two halves it is more easy to shoot but sxs you see the target whole I dont believe classic or modern shotgun. İt is important to know that which feels comfortable when you shoot.

I just like the tradition of the side by side.

Was here for the 2023 edition of SxS v O&U.... See you next year chaps.

Started with an over under 725 7 ears ago. Bought a SxS on a whim 5years ago. Now I have 5. Vincenzo Bernadelli, AYA 2, AYA 4, Baikal, Pieter Bayard
I've got an AYA NO2 & a Browning B125, love em!
All time favourite side by side ❤

My friend, you are a man with a hunting and gun culture, that's why you are different.
I started shooting clays with an O/U (trap) then onto an Auto for SC. Went back to O/Us for SC, then picked up a SXS for SXS shoots. Now I'm hooked on SXS and now have 9 proper shotguns,
GREAT WORK SIR
👍 Thank you. Helpful video. I really like the whole side-by-side experience.
I started with a beretta O/U but I couldn’t get on with it so bought a Webley 700 and never looked back
I love my SxS. I haven't been able to talk myself into the OU yet. I don't find them appealing.
Would love to see more Yildiz side by side videos. I'm very impressed with the O/U Yildiz.
I have both and like using my side by side admittedly I don’t use it much but when I do I enjoy using it and it’s 20 as well

Baikel made some super high quality guns
Both gun will bring down has to be brought down. The question is, which one fits you better, for your shooting skills?
Nice video. Would be good to see a video where you look at the difference between an AYA #2 and a #56 and an English game gun and a pigeon gun. I only shoot clays (I hunt with rifles)
Heard complains about the soft touch coatings on Browning composite stocks. They get sticky like wet paint after a while.
Got AYA S×S and Winchester select O/U shoot just as good with both but thanks for tips to shoot better
Have shot everything with a side by side since I was 12, 25 now and own 3 side by sides and one semi auto, the semi auto never leaves the cabinet 😅
No debate! Side by side is much better. Wish more had single trigger though.
Side by side for hunting. Faster reload
I wonder whether there would be a video on break action shotgun stock types. I want to order the replacement set of wood for my gun and can't really decide which kind of a stock grip I like more and whether it should have a cheekrest
*Semi Auto enters the chat...............
Haha sometimes you turn up to some clay grounds and you hear the tuts
Yes a gun is a gun no matter what it shoots and looks like!
@@Jolly56Roger lol
🙄
I love the tradition of my triple barrel.
I’m going out for rabbit and own a Stoeger uplander 12gauge 28inch barrel but also own a Steven’s silver 555 over under in 20gauge.. I’m torn between which one would be best for winter rabbits
I own 4 side by sides and 1 over under.....Tells you which I prefer.
Both expensive, especially the AYA Sidelock, how about comparing bargain basement guns such as a Baikal
The cartridges seem nice and soft what where they?
A lot of us are looking for non wood OU shotguns, still waiting to see this Browning in Australia. Might have to go a turkish shotty instead
You should re mount the gun with the second shot s/s your keeping it in your shoulder
Over and under seperates the target into two halves it is more easy to shoot but sxs you see the target whole I dont believe classic or modern shotgun. İt is important to know that which feels comfortable when you shoot.
Hello can I ask you about Bettinsolli Grand Prix deluxe if it’s good choice for Skeet shooting or something else the budget 5000
Thank you
O/U’s recoil less than SbS only because they weigh so much more.
The most modern....two barreled shotgun anyways
For winning a competition: over under
For looking proper British: side by side
Love my AYA
Thank you sir really very helpful video
Don’t dis the Browning! 😂
If God had wanted us to shoot over unders, he would have made our eyes like "8".
4:14 - No, it isn't.
How is a browning anything a modern gun, dated 1930s action with bucket material stock
Z🥱
The browning composit is a piece of junk can't ballance and beats the crap out of your face
Yawn.....🤤
