  • The Dark Personality consists of different traits such as narcissism, sadism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy. People with Dark Personality also have cognitive empathy, sometimes referred to as Dark Empathy. Researchers Zettler, Moshagen and Hilbeg found a common tendency with all the traits and called it the D-Factor. These tendencies, to different degrees include being selfish, egotistical, callous, manipulative, lying, cruel and being spiteful and resentful.
In this video Darren Magee outlines the nine characteristics of the dark personality and looks at how these traits manifest when co-occuring together.

A business partner lied, cheated and stole from me and pretended to be my best friend… I kicked him out of my life. I just found out that he was just excommunicated from his church for lying, cheating and stealing from all the members of the church. His wife left him. He lost his job and karma kicked his butt.
I have been no contact for almost a year but he called the accountant and tried to rip us off again a few days ago.
No amount of loss stops these people.

I thought my sister was just narcissistic but I have seen her laugh at news videos of a kid being mauled by a dog and then saying the kid deserved it. She's told Me my kids were better off if I were dead. She has openly and blatantly lied to numerous members of the family. Started sending overly filtered pictures of herself to a family group chat used for planning holidays with my elderly grandparents. Refused to go to our brothers wedding because she wasn't the maid of honor. Constantly threatening to kill herself whenever someone offers criticism. She went from being a "save the world vegan" to a "BBQ eating lifted diesel truck driving carnivore" literally overnight. I have no idea what to call her but she scares the crap put of me. I hate being around her.

Your sister sounds awful. I can relate to feeling scared. Mine too, gives me nightmares. Literally. Having looked into her eyes and searched for humanity and found... a black hole... It’s unnerving to be around and terrifying to be on the end of when she is crossed.

He said that he could do everything better, he pushed out the current troop leaders, and ruined it for everybody. The former troop leaders went to the scout Council, asked to disband the troop and had a ton of evidence. The troop was disbanded, and I thought he was gonna blow a gasket he was so angry. I was thankful because three years later the troop reorganized and the former leaders did not allow him to come back.

This is a most excellent and defining video. Thank you Darren for putting this together for us!
I have a new title for it though, "Don't Touch That!". It seems I have more than my share of experience with people in all of this. What I know for sure is, do not expect them to change!! They don't meet the requirement, in general, or are incapable of, being honest with themselves. Therefore cannot take an honest look at the situations and will not be honest with you, or anyone else around them. The video perhaps needs a trailer that makes it clear for victims to stop expecting them to change! Behavior tells the story. Not their words.
Victims of these personalities cannot always tell they are being victimized if the abuser is so "nice" About their dismantling of you.
    Great information, thank you!

A considerable number of UK politicians appear to fit this profile.
If this is an emotional derived condition, then behaviour can change.
However, if this a mental disability then change is extremely problematic.
Using certain UK politicians as an example, it would appear to be a mental condition in these cases.

My mom left her very nice house to one of my 3 siblings, in her will. This sibling was instructed to use this house for habitation or sell it to pay for habitation elsewhere. The contents of the house were supposed to be divided between the 4 siblings. Since she was the designated financial executor, she took our mother's will and rewrote it. Now it's set up so that when she dies the house and all of its contents will be auctioned off, and all the proceeds will go to a local doggy day care, LLC. None of the remaining family members will be allowed in the house, our own mother's home! What a bitter, spiteful person. And she did all this because she lost her control over us when our mom died. She used to be able to go cry to mom whenever we didn't act how she wanted us to act. Mom used to put a guilt trip on us, and make us apologize and then cow-tow to her demands. My mom's house and its contents were supposed to be divided up between all the remaining children if this sibling died before us. My mom would be very upset if she knew what my sibling did, just to spite us, but I'm sure she would still make excuses for her. This sibling has never made one mortgage payment or had any "grown-up" responsibility her entire 64-year-long life. She has always manipulated others to get her way.

I'm new to your channel (a few days ago), but I like these kinds of videos. All those traits are very bad for everyone. Narcissism, Machiavelianism and Psychopathy form the Dark Triad, and it's a relatively new psychological term (I think they said it was first introduced in 2002). There is a new suggestion of adding sadism to that bunch, turning it into a Dark Tetrad, and it's very new (some years back they suggested it). What is your opinion on those and how do they affect society in general, and individual people? Looking forward to seeing more. 😉

For example, because of how information is shared in the medical system, a false diagnosis of sadism or psychopathy would result in extremely uncomfortable encounters with doctors and nurses for the patient - and have the same effects as medical gaslighting. But I don't remember her being like this, well, momentary lapses perhaps, but she was generally agreeable when I was a girl and my dad was the huge stressor. She got pretty abusive when she left my father to remarry her lover, and shortly after I had my first chlld, but she hid that resentment and those delusions from just about everyone but me, her only daughter. Now her grand kids are grown, she's pushed everyone away. She's just poison. She can't seem to control herself. How common is this, I wonder?

One thing I don’t understand about ‘’dark triad’’ is that it doesn’t fit to secondary psychopathy but it fits to primary psychopathy. Interesting…I mean secondary psychopathy can have dark triad as well, no? So basically a sociopath can’t have dark triad? But ASPD individuals with primary psychopathy can have dark triad? Never understood this…It’s basically the same. The other is born that way and the other is made by environmental, genetic. I believe sociopaths can behave like a psychopath as well. And most licensed psychologist don’t know this. I know some of high-functioning sociopaths who are diagnosed one behave like a psychopath…Calm, cold, indifferent, calculated…And they have Dark triad as well 🤔 but most psychologist says ‘’dark triad’’ fits more primary psychopathy and I disagree with that…

I think a lot of people do things that are dark but they think it’s light they feel justified because they believe that their idea of art and life is the only way to be and they’ve limited God and that’s just the way they are and I think that you just have to except you’ll never be a part of the world because you could never fit in their world and you would never compromise your idea of God and the loveliness that God expresses through you whether it’s art on the wall or fashion designs on your clothes or just your make up and hair it’s like God is everything and how you perceive of God and what you believe about God really determines the circles that you can really socialize in and if you don’t fit into people so ideology and you don’t you don’t share their same values absolutely impossible mix I appreciate this video I’m hurting a lot I really wanted to be a part of this world but I just I do not believe God is out absent from the art that goes onto the loveliness of the body as a woman and I don’t think God is absent there it’s like he does not express himself in your clothes he does not expressed your make up he does not expressed himself in your hair you are not inspired by God in your appearance he is void there is a big space God is absent and that is with regard to your parents and I just don’t believe that I think God is in everything including the way you look so I have to just really heal myself from wanting the love of these people that are really not loving to me at all if they did they would care about how I feel but they hold their limited myopic idea of physical parents virtue signaling simplicity and impose this simple idea of art and God on to everyone like a communist country and it’s just show demoralizing humiliating and soul crushing and I’m just sick of it I really appreciate your video it’s a little bit of hope in a very dark world ❤️‍🔥🖼🙏😌🪺🦋🎉
