For people who don’t know when you buy a pineapple at the store you can check the bottom few leaves and pull them off and or look between them to see if there’s roots those are the best ones to start and also you can just twist the top to take it off a lot of websites say to cut off the top but then you’re left with that fruit stuck to it and it’s annoying- you can just twist it it’s much easier!
My daughter bought me a pineapple plant about 2 years ago with the fruit. I am so-oooo enjoying it. I finally cut the fruit off, removed the top, and the mother and top are doing well. I grew the top in water. But when I finally planted it, it started turning yellow/brown. Gave it to my neighbor in hopes she can save it.(She's better with plants than I am) About 2 months ago I discovered baby on my mother plant! It's growing strong and rather fast. Is it better to trim the pineapple leaves to minimize water loss during rooting? Like how basil or other plant cuttings can’t support many leaves yet and gave to strip down to the top two pairs of leaves?

Oh that's smart! Love that
I just bought 2 pineapples for $18 ea and most nurseries have them for $50 ea. I'm wondering what type of soil they like acidic or Alka? I'm guessing acidic as I've read they prefer moist soil. I grow with compost, worm castings and dry amendments.
I put a couple of tops from store bought pineapples in water a month ago. I just put them in soil 3 days ago. Not sure if I'm seeing new growth yet. 🤞🏻
Hey epic gardening quick question am growing a pineapple what do I feed it so it could continue to grow
Trying to grow one here in Ireland isn't actually going too bad, hopefully there'll be a part deux to this vid.
Thanks for this! I accidentally left my store-bought pineapple plant (Patty) sitting in water 😩 and she started to droop. I quickly removed the water and hoped she would dry out. Then I decided to repot (before watching this DOH!) and used part compost, part cactus soil, part perlite - I transferred her into the new pot, left her unwatered but she’s still droopy … She’s in full sun - does little Patty the Pineapple have hope? 😩
So what is the status of your pineapple plants? Would love an update video
Thanks for this, pineapples are one of my favorite fruits and they are a bit tricky to figure out the best way to go, i will be buying some starts and having a go
I rescued a pineapple plant from a Walmart garden center today. Poor thing was was drowning in water.🤦♀️
Was surprised to find it there since this particular Walmart is called the "ghetto Walmart" because of location.
I grew mine from cut tops from grocery store pineapples I bought. It may take longer but it is fun!
And that's what it's all about
How much water do they need per watering
I have a baby pineapple. How much per watering for temperature in England?
hi, kevin. yeah, i've got 2 top cuttings planted a year ago and they are doing well. have you any recommendations on a fertilizer that might push them along? nice video. i was going for a degree in horticulture but i changed to fine arts (where my heart was) i've been painting in oils for years. i still keep my interests in plants. thanks, tootsie, carmine.
thanks so much, not-kevin, rick borghuis. i wil take your advice and give it a try. is there a product i can buy that is appropriate for the pineapples? regards, carmine.
thank you, rick.
Wow they drill the center that might’ve been what happened with my other two I tried to plant that’s messed up. These new two ones look decent hoping for growth informative video thanks 🙏 so much
I like naming my plants too. :)
Yes, here in italy they do the drilling thing in the pineapple, but I managed to root one and that have two pups. At least I think that, the original one hasn't had any new 🌿
I started my first one this past summer and barely have any growth is the middle. I found the other day that my soil was way to wet and my roots had molded 🤦🏻♀️ so I used some peroxide and attempting to save it. I hope it works!!
My plants name is spongebob 🤣 I have 3 kids so they picked the name lol
I have one i’ve been growing for about 3 or 4 months now from the crown of a store bought pineapple. it’s doing really really well. all i did was plant the plant into some old soil i found in my garage and hoped for the best. the growth in the middle is doing great as well as it’s becoming very spiked lol.
@@frienzy0375 that's awesome I hope mine starts doing better now that I changed the soil and stuff.
He mentioned pineapples in a more recent video but just showed them not mentioned doing another part
link?
Is it better to trim the pineapple leaves to minimize water loss during rooting? Like how basil or other plant cuttings can’t support many leaves yet and gave to strip down to the top two pairs of leaves?
I bought a pineapple that looks just like this and I was curious to know. How often do I water the plant? And also where at? Sorry if that’s a dumb question but can someone help me out
is a old video but the drill on top is for get bigger fruit ,if you don't do it the top grow bigger and can break the stem (big fruit in a small stem)
