I love having a cup of tea with a couple of shortbread cookies as a snack. It just feels so cozy, especially as the weather turns colder. There's nothing quite as comforting as a hot and sweet cup of tea with a couple of cookies! ☺ The M&S shortbread cookies are my favorite since trying them last year for the first time. I've picked up 3 tins so far this season! 🤭 I currently have a couple of reads going. The book I've been reading the longest and keep neglecting to pick back up is Mistborn from Brandon Sanderson. I'm in a fantasy mood, but I think I'm not one of the Sanderson girlies. I WILL finish this book though! So to keep my fantasy interest high, I have a middle grade fantasy that I'm really enjoying: Skandar and the Chaos Trials by A.F. Steadman. It's set on an island between the UK and Ireland where teens get to meet their destined unicorn and train with them at a special school. This is the 3rd book in the series, and I'm having so much fun reading them. The unicorns do NOT poop rainbows in this world. And then I have a KU book I'm reading called Archer by Rebecca Sharp. I saw an ad on Instagram describing it as part of a series based on Criminal Minds characters. I'm a sucker for that show. So far--meh. But I'm going to finish it off so I can see if this is a series I want to continue reading. I'm really just counting my days until winter break begins for us. Friday will be my last day and I'm so ready to just relax and read more.
Tea and shortbread is the best, especially M&S shortbread. I've never gotten into Sanderson but I know a lot of people love his books. Hope you can relax over winter break!
📕 📕📕 You talked about rest in this video, and you implemented it by taking a rest day for yourself. You also talked about being a Type A, overachiever, and recovering perfectionist. How do you plan to choose more rest in 2025? Loved this video! Keep taking care of yourself as needed. ❤❤❤
Also, in response to your question, I am reading The Improvisers by Nicole Glover. As for holiday movies I’m watching, I am not a huge fan of them, but I am going to a party this weekend where we are having a potluck and watching a holiday movie. Go figure that one out. 😂😂
Hi Andrea, Thank you for the reminder about rest. I really need to take that to heart, as I have been doing a lot for others the last couple of weeks, and not focusing on myself too much. I'm currently reading Dune, Illborn, and Turtles all the way down(audio book version). Dune is going alright but it's really dense. I'm trying to get through it though, by reading ten pages a night. It's not that I dislike it, it's just there's so much to take in when you read it it can be hard to concentrate on. Illborn is really interesting so far, I'm halfway through it. I like the writing, and it's kinda got this darkness to it. Turtles all the way down I'm halfway through too, It's going alright. So far as far as Christmas movies go, I watched Red One. It was actually pretty good and had a lot of mythology and interesting world building in it. I really enjoyed it.
Rest is so important. It's so easy to end the holiday season feeling burned out and exhausted because we just go flat out for the whole month. I really need to watch Red One still! :)
📘 Chocolate covered hazelnuts and chocolate covered almonds are my favourite reading snack! I'm currently reading "The Stolen Kingdom" by Bethany Atazadeh - It's a YA fantasy Aladdin retelling ❤. She has a RUclips channel. Just watched "Christmas In Evergreen" for the second year in a row! It's a series of movies set in the magical Christmas small town of Evergreen - There's a magical wishing snowglobe, Santa pops up everywhere, and the cutest red pickup truck :) 10/10 Recommend. Is "A Scottish Christmas set in Scotland, Andrea? I'm gonna watch it anyways but I'm kind of obsessed with Christmas movies set in Scotland (like "A Castle For Christmas with Brooke Shields and Cary Elwes). I have Scottish roots 😊.
Chocolate covered hazelnuts are so good! I'll have to look up Christmas in Evergreen. You'll love A Merry Scottish Christmas, it was so cute. Definitely A Castle for Christmas vibes. And lol, are you sure we're not the same person? Lol, I love that we both have Scottish heritage. :)
The key to keeping mental acuity while being older is all of the Seven Habits "sharpen the saw" stuff becomes mandatory as opposed to optional.
I really need to work on that. I don't like how bad my brain feels some days.

I'm still figuring out how I want to set goals for 2025 that include more rest. It's usually my biggest struggle.

Unless I am unwell I could never go to bed before midnight
I used to be that way, but staying up that late started to make me feel unwell, so it was time to try something different.

You should never doubt your abilities because you make these vlogs how do you write books
I really need to remind myself of that sometimes. :)
📕📗📖 currently reading a predictable romance novel for all the feel-good vibes
That is totally my reading vibe at this time of year. :)
