Coach Nick tracked every single pick and roll Trae Young has run against the Sixers defense, and went into the footage to explain what is working so well for them. If the Sixers can't get better at defending it, and Joel Embiid continues to suffer from his knee issues, this series could go longer than expected.

Finally some actual REAL analysis of the game
Yea this was pretty solid idk what that other guy is smoking bro lmao
Embiid sold by settling for jump shots in the second half.
Doc rivers sold by letting his team notice joel is crying for help and still game planned to force feed him
Probably settling for jumpers because of his knee
Yep truth be told but I think it’s cos he had the juice to dunk
he missed a wide open layup at the end, i think he aggravated his meniscus tear
He was hurt he know he had to try and out that ball in the basket or nobody else on phili would score
On a pretty bad game from Trae the Sixers still managed to choke at the end. Giannis and Embiid have to be some of the most infuriating yet talented bigs in the league stop settling!!!
Meniscus tear and knee issues, normally he would pound in the paint
@Saden Uttie ! Doesn't mean you have to settle for such bad shots 🤷♂️run the offence properly no MVP contention player should go 0-12 in a half during a playoff again
@@ethantan2913 Not saying he should I've always been of the mind Embiid gets too much credit for the 76ers improvement and Simmons gets far too little if any at all but one thing is certain Embiid should have been taken out and sat most of the night
@@wondercat6169 your a completeeeee idiot like its not even funny embiid got 20 rebounds while missing wtf ben did all second half and most of this post season ?? Docs just never adjusted and kept running offense thru embiid instead of their 2nd best player harris
Talented is an overstatement, lets not hype washed up players. How many seasons have Sixers crashed out as a work in progress?
I love how slick he’s become with his ads. But I still see them coming and jus hit that fast forward lmao
Ben always lead with his shoulder to get around screens. That's why he basically dies out on every screen action. Plus doesn't force Young anywhere just lets him go wherever he wants.
Simmons should try go behind the screen, the floater are a bigger threat than the threes right now. Sounds a bit ridiculous giving Trae open look but something just need to change.
@@siamatsu4976 Trae hasn't been shooting that well in this series so I say you live with his 3 point shots and eliminate floaters and lobs
@@TheCureEnjoyer bad game plan to go under Trae Young's ball screens regardless of his percentage previously. Especially in the playoffs where Trae could get hot and single handedly beat them
@@Henry-kv7zl ben's got a long wingspan, and also trae's kinda inefficient on 3s these series. I think it's better to let trae shoot 3s now rather than the floaters and lob. Ben lets him drive thus collapsing the defense then leading to easy passes or shots.
I feel like Ben gets called for a foul if he even breathes on Trae coming off a screen.
They just got killed again after leading by over 20 points in game 5
Coach, thank you for putting out content throughout the playoffs and all the analysis! cheers from germany
Young had the highest (114) floaters during the regular season with a success rate of 45.6% out of 252 attempts. No other player crossed the 200 attempt mark.
Once he gets past his primary defender, he almost always makes the right decision too..if the centre comes up, he lobs it up for a dunk and if the centre doesn't come up, it's a quick beautiful floater. That move right there is unstoppable.
Doc just want to avoid that 3-1 advantage
If we Sixers win tonight, I will come back to this comment 😭

10:41 "generating" free throws LMAO, flopping ass Embiid man
Coach doing Hawks breakdowns, never thought I'd see the day.
it usually a beatdown because of Lebron lol
but for real T.young is a bad man.. didnt feel that bad for knicks losing to them
As a 76ers fan. I am so torn between wanting to trade Simmons for his offensive liability but also realising that he’s the main catalyst for the Trae Young issue.
Then there is also Embiid’s health
In the post season what type of star players win chips ? The ones who can shoot, If he was a role player it would be fine but he plays 36 mins and contributes nothing a role player cant
@@treychapo1898 i hear that. I think Daryl Morey will trade him. We seriously need a point guard that literally takes the weight off of Embiid
Simmons is ass. He cannot even be on floor for last possession. What an embarrassment lmaooo
That transition into the wallet commercial is too funny! Great job on these bball breakdowns, I've been watching these for years.
Hack a simmon is one of the reasons Atlanta came back tonight .if simmon can’t shoot, the process will never get it done
Embiids body language was so bad this game. I kno hes playing hurt but he needs to stay focused. Gave up too many easy buckets. Too much complaining to the refs. He let the hawks get him frustrated and when he's frustrated he's a liability
facts, he spent the entire second half either shooting face-up jumpers or flopping to draw fouls and the refs weren’t buying it (I bet they will in Philly tonight tho). once he becomes disengaged he’s pretty useless and his defense suffers too
Just like the 4th quarter today he played like an inexplicable BITCH
Sheeeesshh the thumbnail 🔥🔥
Never been this early to a coach nick vid. 😂

Your videos are amazing but for some reason the algorithm doesn’t show me your videos at all, I had to type in bball breakdown to see them.
Trae Young is ridiculously good. His defense is still a disaster but offensively, man this guy can carry you. On his way to being a special player in the league for sure. God knows what he can do when he's already this much of a problem in year 3. Say what you want about circumstances (credit that to the GM), but he's about to take the Hawks further than Luka has taken his team. That trade for each other looking fantastic for both franchises at this point

The number of times teams did NOT foul up by 3 in this years playoffs must be making coach nick go insane
Maybe they’re afraid of it becoming a shooting foul, if a player shoots as soon as they feel contact, or they miss a freethrow purposely, rebound, and win/tie the game. Maybe I’m reaching a little, but there’s a couple of ways that can go wrong.
The dunk-spot-Ben really kills me.
I like the other music you used. Nice change even though this is the master track
the iconic soundtrack is back!
I would call Tobias Harris scoring 4 pts in 38 minutes and Ben Simmons missing 10 FTs is a pretty good strategy to get a W
The final possession happened that way because after game 1, the Hawks are scared of bringing the ball down court and having a turnover for easy buckets that costs them the game. If they had a timeout to bring the ball down court, it would've been an obvious situation to foul, but without the timeout in their pocket I understand the concern. Curry didn't beat the buzzer anyways, the Hawks had it read all the way.
This channel has taught me to use transition phrases better than my writing classes. Sheeesh that wallet transition was smooth!

I wonder why many teams still don't foul when up 3. Perhaps they like to keep hearing Coach Nick like a broken recorder lol
About time the HOX get some respect baby!!
Sixers bad performance later in games tells me there's an issue with Embiid's conditioning. He's not in shape and that's why they drop the ball even with big leads. Props for him playing with a busted knee though.
I think there is a direct correlation between the amount of minutes star players play, and the amount of star players getting injured in the nba. I think more coaches need to lower the minutes of their star players, and enforce more conditioning in practice, so these guys can be in better shape for the games. In high school basketball teams run til they puke. Idk but i highly doubt nba practices are that intense
Young shoots and then jumps into a defender a d always gets the foul call! It should be an offensive foul and this rule needs to be changed!
Before everyone shits on embiid and Simmons, embiid is still recovering from a meniscus tear, and Simmons has been playing well. We got this in 6 or 7 hopefully
Coach I can not understand for the life of me how the Hawks let Shake walk all the way up to the three with the game on the line WIDE OPEN. I understand the play was for curry but he should've shot?
how can Nate McMillan preside over an offense this complex, just 3 months into the job, while BUDENHOLZER is running the same crap OVER AND OVER AND OVER????
Simmons hits some free throws and the Sixers would have wrapped up this series last night. I suspect Ben will be playing on another team next year.
ben needs a jumper so he can space the floor
W
Im a little concerned for Traes shoulder because he used to tape them in high school. Hope they’re not giving him problems
Can’t believe how sensitive sixers fans are. Dude makes a video about the hawks pick and roll and the comments are full of crying sixers fans.
Korkmaz shouldn't be starting. Put Thybulle in and lock them down early
di i just hear pick and roll ? i mean adams and roll
Hey aren't hawks really lucky to have sixers choke at important times!
What' s wrong with the coaches in the NBA not taking a 2p foul rather than a 3p shot to tie the game. If I was the owner of this franchise, I would seriously question this.
What happened to ridge wallet lol
NBA met monday June 14 to change the rules because of the way tre young and James harden ( the names they named) leans to draw fouls.
majority of players do it in some fashion. Even a massive human like Embiid routinely does. Glad they are aiming to make changes though.
Collins fouled Simmons super clearly on the putback attempt to win the game and Ben is so scared of foul shots he didn't argue it.
Damn and I just got my ridge wallet
lol
I thought you switched your big wallet for the ridge? You went back to the big wallet just to switch to Ekster?
This is where James Harden has changed the GAME; foul searching (whether you like it or not) Players like Luka, Trae are at their best playing the James Harden way, PnR for a lob foul or lay up.
Shout out to Indiana Pacers by firing Nate McMillan
If Trae wins this championship he'll prove that he is better than Luka Doncic.
the new game 4 hawks logo sucks
My man has said nothing good about my Sixers all season, told us we’d be a 4th or 5th seed. Come trust the process coach. Still love your breakdown tho.
Imagine if the Hawks have healthy Hunter/Reddish, The Sixers will struggled more and lose this series.
In that scenario do the Sixers have Green and a healthy Embiid? If so, sorry, Hawks would have won 1 game.
@@caseychiles8374 Lol, does embiid really got hurt? I mean he put his team on his back by scoring 30+ points a game, and u been saying that dumb reason?? 🤣🤣Sixers have 2 Candidates DPOTY, but can't guard trae?🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Hi Coach Nick. From Philippines
Salamat 👍🏀
SIXERS JUST NEED TO RUN MORE PLAYS FOR SETH! WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING WASTING HAVING HIM IN THE FLOOR? HE'S A LIABILITY IN THE DEFENSE SO HE NEEDS TO PICK IT UP IN THE OFFENSE!
1:46 everyone slams guys like Jokic when quick guards attack them, but what about Embiid? No one ever slams him, and yet he is as exposed as Jokic is. Hawks did it ALL. GAME. LONG. Face it, every center can get exposed in today's NBA by guards, be it Jokic, Embiid or Gobert
Seth Curry torching you bro.
Pop quiz:
Do you know what Trae shoots for his career on 3s?
34%.
Know what he shot this season on 3s? 34%.
Know what he's shooting in the playoffs on 3s? 34%.
He even shot 36% in COLLEGE and shoots 37% on WIDE OPEN 3s this season (no one within 6 ft of him). He's been a below average 3 point shooter throughout his entire career. I have no idea why he has a reputation likes he's Curry.
All these p&r game plans involve scrambling over screens because you're scared he'll shoot, when you should be going under and hoping he shoots.
37% isn’t really that bad if you go under and date him to shoot he will punish you. Lebron shot about the same you don’t see people sagging on him. I would say he’s an average shooter
His willingness to take the logo three helps with floor spacing because defenses have to respect the fact he's capable of hitting those, even if they are low percentage shots. I agree reputation can be a tricky thing, and not always based in reality. He was supposed to be the next Curry, but Trae has a far different skill set and weapons. That's more the media's fault, I don't think Trae ever to claimed to pattern himself after Steph.
The media compares him to curry. He always said his favorite player was Nash. He plays like a combination of Iverson and Nash.
@@MHO999999 I agree with pretty much everything you said. I don't think it's his fault and his willingness to shoot from deep definitely influences defenses. I just think you have to play the percentages. Trae's best skills are reading the defense and passing, and finishing as he's attacking the rim. If I'm coaching, I wouldn't be so afraid of his 3-pt shot that I play directly into his strengths.
@@smarioredd Well, that seems like a good comparison. The best thing about Trae's game is that he doesn't have to score or shoot a high percentage to play winning basketball. That sounds funny for a guy who's not known for defense or rebounding. I guess that shows his overall floor generalship and understanding of basketball. His celling is even higher than a guy like Ja Morant because he doesn't rely on athleticism to be effective. He'll probably age quite well and have a long career.
