Very helpful thank you. Configuring these networks from a GUI layout is a lot easier than doing it from the Command line, but it goes without saying that being able to do it from the command line is a very good skill to have.

Hi Mate, why would we do subnetting rather than using VLANSs?
The two are different techniques that complement each other
The main branch has an application server which should be accessible by the users in the remote
branch. The WAN link has to be optimized such that only the traffic to the application server
should be allowed on it.
Your proposal design should cover different aspects, but not limited to Project scope,
Description, User and network requirements; TCP/IP Design for the LAN networks at all
offices/locations (main and remote branches); TCP/IP table with IP address details; Network
topology diagram with IP address; WAN Network design for both the locations; Allow only
traffic sent or received by staff users to the application server over the WAN link. And all other
traffic should be denied; Hardware with quantity list; Testing and verification of the design; and
detailed estimated budget for the project

A WAN network has to be designed for an organization (for example, Bank of Abuja) which has
a main branch in Kigali and two (2) remote branches in Lagos and Kaduna, respectively.
There are 100 users in the main branch and 50 users in each remote branch. please help

It only says use a suitable number. It could be 1 switch 1 router. 2 switches 1 router. 1 switch 2 routers... it doesn't matter as long as it's reasonable.

Maybe I'm not understanding as well as I thought I was, but what happens if I have 3 departments? What do you do with 2^n = 3 for subnetting?
Would you do 2^2 so that N = 2 and then divide it into 4 groups but only use 3 of them (one for each department) and then you'd have one group not being used?
Three departments 2^2, one subnet unused. This is just a beginner level. We should always consider the number of hosts, check other projects in our channel.
