My man...I got back into fishing 2 years ago and I have quickly fallen in love with fishing the Erie Canal. The Canal can be rough. I had my best times this year early in the spring when it was drained, I was fishing under a bridge in town like a troll. All kinds of rusty poles and shopping carts and bikes and garbage at this spot...but it's the only spot in town with killer structure like this. Caught some killer crappie and smallies there. Lots of rock bass. Later in the spring the Erie Canal's wide waters areas are great for carp and kittys.
Old erie canal or the newer barge canal? The old erie near oneida/ canastota has a surprising amount of species. Its thd type of place wear you cast in between the shopping cart and the lazy boy and catch a 10 lb catfish. Lol
@@beastman2513 Are there seriously fish in the old canal in there? All I ever see are turtles, and that's when they haven't drained it. I haven't tried where it goes under the thru-way. I tried my hardest to find some carp and catfish this year, but only managed one bullhead.
@@PhotonChief yes. A good spot for carp is by the bridge on 316 (oneida valley rd) directly across the canal from the bar. i think the name of the place is Jack's or better. You need 20lb or better line though to haul in the carp cause the drop to the water is too far to reach with most nets . Ive caught rock bass, carp, largemouth, catfish, bullhead, pickerel, bluegill there .
Dude west palm beach had the craziest fluctuating weather I’ve ever seen. Rained so hard for an hour and flooded like 2 feet then 2 hours later it is sunny and dry.
Watch out for gators Leo ! Wish I was with you. It's freezing here in Philly ! 🌬️❄️🤧. Hey Leo, I'm flicking through the tv channels and a program about fishing for kids in pennsylvania is on now. Pa fish and game. A lot of footage at the Schuylkill. Walnut/Chestnut areas. WACP-7. CHANNEL 4-7. It's called "Into the Outdoors" trout up next.
All your videos are worth a sacrifice 😝 In the end, thank you so much for fishing for those, (especially me who cannot go out bc of the pandemic). I love ALL of your videos. ❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe out there!
OK Leo , yea we do get a lot of " pop up showers here " . Sunshine one side rain the other side sunshine ! Still this beats the cold SNOW in PA . Some of the waterways are filled with fish , some ya have ta work like hell to catch fish . Still you didn't give up 'cause of the rain . Hope the rest of yer trip is better . Tom Daytona Beach, FL. 27, December 2020 .
Oh man after your 55 minute walk, you ended up directly behind my neighborhood! I recognized that spot instantly! You were so close to the secret fishing hole near there thats gold!
Yes I would count the fish at 7:10. It might not be in the mouth, but it's on the mouth. It's not like it's hooked on the top of the head. This was close enough.
Use bread to catch small bluegills, cichlids, and Talpia. It’s been colder out so the bigger peas are moving deeper to the warmer water. Use a small split shot on a size 1-2 size circle hook and toss them out. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a clown knife
Shurmash not for peas. Barely for bass because of how much people use them down here. The best to use is a xrap. Ned rigs are good for bedding largies but peas won’t mess with them
I’ve fished some of these spots, love catching peas. The bigger peas are moving deeper, catch smaller bait fish and throw them out with a little split shot. I can give you some spots if you’d like
Hope you get a bigmouth sleeper soon! They're sweet fish. I've caught six out of neighborhood pond in St. Lucie County Florida. That's the only place I consistently catch them. I guess let me know if you're ever fishing near there and I can get ya in 🙂
Good question, Assualt. Make sure to always wash your reels when you come back from a fishing session in the salt! And, of course, try your best to not get salt and sand on your fishing reels.
Hey, I watched your vid on KastKing Centron.,.... how do you like that reel? Any comments?.. I bought a 500 for spring, supposed to arrive today or tomorrow.
Thank you Timmys599 for funding Leo's trip, without kind people like you, we'd be stuck watching content that's far less entertaining. I tip my fez to you. As an aside, no I wouldn't count it, yeah it swiped, but it's not IN the mouth, so for me, no go.
He tried to eat, that's a fair catch. And yes, all that work was worth it. I know you've had those days where you put in all that work and catch nothing.
I thought about it a while back, JasonL. The thing is...I am not entirely sure that all Florida Bass are Florida Largemouth Bass. To top it off, you can't really differentiate them at the naked eye level. Thus, for now, I haven't added the floridanus to my lifelist.
If you get a detailed picture you can use lateral scale counts to tell them apart. Floridanus has>70, salmoides 60-65. Hybrids in between. Also the 12 lb + beasts down there are almost always floridanus if you get lucky lol.
Hey Leo loved the video man I live right next to that canal. If you ever want to fish together whenever your down again let me know I got that good spots around the canal. 🙏🙏
Buy yourself a small submarine drone with a camera attached to it, find a way to tie rope to it and let it figure out where fish are by simply seeing where you send it. You get some great underwater shots also it’s trying to make the job of finding fish a little easier by telling where fish are but not what species. It’s a trick I learned by simply controlling the sub you can see where the fish are so you can cast in that general direction. I’m a terrible caster as my arm was damaged so I make due with what I have. I’ve accidentally caught lion fish this way which were promptly destroyed via Florida law. Look don’t knock it ok as it works.
I like the bluegill was a star of the day definitely worth it
This brings back memories. I got my start fishing the many canals in Broward county.
How many bodies did you hook into ? 😂
Free melly
@@coletonshedrck6177 ???🤔
Leo is an angler with honor not counting that Peacock hooked on the side of the mouth. Would I have counted it? Hell Yeah!!!
It’s always worth it, even if you don’t catch anything. Just seeing the wildlife (woods, streams, oceans etc.) is worth it.
The peacock was hooked in the mouth it counts. Outside in or inside out it was still hooked in the mouth.

What part of the canal? I'm more familiar with the bit east of Oneida Lake.

Anybody else here for the intro.. and also some good fishing.. but mostly the intro. NEVER GETS OLD 😅🤣😂
First rule when you come to Florida is never trust the weather report 😉
Same with Texas LOL guess that’s the thing about living basically next to the coast
gulf coast weather is like that hahahaha
Neverrrrr

Who else is always SO quick for a vid from a very cool RUclips?
we all know, one fish makes it gold!
Fish on, Leo, Fish on! We love you for it... enjoying the tour! 👍🎣😊😎🎣
I’ve watched all of your Florida series videos. There the best!

I would have counted the peacock especially if it’s obvious that it swiped at it.
My grandma lives in Broward county!!! Lol if she saw you she'd be like "why the hell is that man talking to him self"
Love your unique editing style my man! Gets me everytime!!!
Leo had a little extra jutsu thrown into that intro! That fish dinner from last video must have given mounds of energy.
The fiends are now going to use epfs quote sometimes a pipe is your best friend 😂😂😂😂 and I’m a recovering addict lol
Love the editing
Ayyy sup Leo
Remember folks, keep happy, healthy, and hydrated!
Always worth it....from what I have been hearing the Peacocks love the sun so when I catch one when it is overcast like that I feel lucky
Leo the goat🔥🎣‼️
Thank you for your time and effort for fishing and giving us content when it’s cold and when it’s hot I really appreciate you Leo 🥳👏🏽👍🏽
Thanks Timmy!!! Yes any time you explore new fishing spots its worth it even if you get poured on.
Imagine if u get under that tree and a snake just comes right towards you😂
The BEST intro youve ever done my man. Love coming back to these old vids....
Was beginning to worry! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🍻🍻 watching your old ice fishing videos when it popped up 🤑
I tried to stay up for the upload last night but I couldn’t, first thing when I wake up tho, Preciate the amazing content amigo.
Awesome video Leo keep up with the good work.👍👍👍
“I don’t trust the canals here in Florida” proceeds to damn near put foot in water to release peacock bass lol
That was one hell of a cooper nose 👍🏽
Your "Swamp People..Shoot em Liz" reference was hilarious!!😂😂😂
Hah Leo that’s the thing with being near the coast I live in Texas so I think I can confirm that claim LOL

Good stuff, Mack! I certainly hope those work for you. I personally love them.
Peacock bass 🥰‼️
Always worth it to test a new spot.
You'll kick yourself for not trying it.
11:34 Leo they’re all man made
7:10 I would count it he hitt it and it was on his mouth if it was on his side or tail it would feel different
The back hook is on the outside cause bass eat head first and that treble got caught there before the whole bait got in it’s mouth
You know, Leo, there this new tech you might wanna check out. I think it's called umbrellow. Something like that. I hear it's big with golfers.
Making the world better and helping it heal one fish(or many lol) and video at a time.Much respect ✊
I’m super excited for this video

Leo the peacock bass slayer.. keep up the good work love all ur videos ...
Both Miami and Broward are pretty hit or miss with the canals
So early lol thanks for the vid Leo!
Finally gave up the Mariska hargitay name after almost 10 years lol
As always a great day watching Leo esslay

ohhhh hell yeahhhhhhhhh!!!! another epf vid!!!
I’m going fishing in this area in a couple weeks, anyone have any tips to catch some quick, easy exotic fish? 🐠🐟🎣
You can get cichlids/tilapias with damn near anything. If the water is clear enough, you might even get one on a blank hook.
Use bread to catch small bluegills, cichlids, and Talpia. It’s been colder out so the bigger peas are moving deeper to the warmer water. Use a small split shot on a size 1-2 size circle hook and toss them out. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a clown knife

Thanks

The struggle is real Leo I went salt water fishing yesterday and tried 2 spots and nothing at least you caught some cool video Leo
Best intro on the platform ❤️
I got time before work to watch the vid for a chance hell yeah
Hahaha me and my dad used to watch that gator hunting show and we always used to say "shoot em elizabeth" so that reference was pretty funny
Caught a massive smooth puffer in South Jersey a few years ago, boy was I confused.
No question Leo it’s always worth it
The Z-cranker for a sleeper seems on the big side for me.. Don't you think a trout magnet or a simple worm would do better?
if i know im gona catch fish for sure its worth it, just better gear up u fool loL! awesome video as always leo!
Hey Leo, may be some night fishing will being out some new species?
I do a lot of night time fishing, Matt. I just don't record it, since the light is really bad. Lol.
How do you keep your reels from messing up from the salt water
Good question, Assualt. Make sure to always wash your reels when you come back from a fishing session in the salt! And, of course, try your best to not get salt and sand on your fishing reels.
Thank you
Great angler even better video keep killing em bud
BEST intro EVER!
My YT channel is all about exploring and gambling. It’s the best thing to do, always worth it even if you don’t catch (or find) anything
Alright leo im ready for the 2021 fishing season!! Do you have any target species for next year?
Oh yeah, Patrick. Hopefully 2021 will be THE YEAR for international trips to begin! We will see.

Leo, you gotta hit me up next time you come down to Florida so we can fish. You're hilarious and it would be fun to wet a line with you.

Nice ones bro.
Should consider a rain suite in your fishing pack, especially not having a car to retreat to and all.

After you got the bass out that hole by pipes it scared all the other fish. Fish spook easy, at least the ones in California do.
The barb in the mouth came loose when you set the hook. count it Leo.
Would love to fish with Leo one day. Much love from va🙏
You should come fish in my pond, the bluegills in it are even bigger than that.
