      @@michaelpfaff-mdh-2033 What exactly do you think a 45 year old hood spring is supposed to look like ? Look at the paint in the jams sir....ya exactly the same paint - if you are cutting corners and passing off a car you do not take the time to do that. This car is original and legit as far as I can see - I have owned about 50 GM cars of various vintages, and I say you are a moron.

      I disagree - I loved the New Yorkers and especially when they were Imperials in 1974-75. Got a lot for your money with Imperials. First domestic other than Corvette to have 4 wheel disc brakes. Had electronic ignition before GM or Ford did, and that wonderful tufted interior was the stuff of legend. Only the Talisman looked more comfortable. Then again, all cars were super plushy and can't go wrong with any of them if you can get one

    • @carlm8821
      @carlm8821 3 года назад

      @@1983jblack Even though, I’ve come to appreciate the design and styling features of the New Yorker/Imperial, I was always put off by the way the C-pillars had the concave, or inward curvature, as it swept sharply downward and to the rear...and that Chrysler, never really bothered to ‘update’ its exterior with small finishing touches, like GM did with it’s B-bodies or Ford with the LTD Landau/Grand Marquis Brougham by adding either thicker chrome trim where existing pieces already were or adding extra pieces where none existed initially, But then I suppose that was the appeal of the Chrysler models, not overdoing the exteriors with excess and as some would say, gaudiness. They were quite stunning in white with white or red interiors, black with black white or red interiors and silver with red interiors!

    My girlfriend had one just like this. It was always really hard for her to get it to start in the winter, she would usually flood the crap out of it by pumping the gas to much, but if she pumped it enough it would usually start. She drove that car up until a year ago, she loved the interior, she loved having that big ashtray in the middle of the dash, it was easy for her to reach while driving. It was a great car, until some moron rear ended it.

    Harley has made a profitable business for a long time making motorcycles that hide new tech but look like they're from many decades ago. Why not do the same with cars? I love interiors such as this Oldsmobile's and have always found them to be superior to anything made since. When I look at a current Mercedes interior for example, like an E-class', it seems cold and way too affected. This Olds is warm and inviting, and all the fake wood and chrome is perfect because it's just for your pleasure, and not to impress anyone.

    Sorry - I know this video is over 3 years old, and that 98 is long gone, but there is no way that car had only 80 miles on the clock.
    Why is that, you may ask?
    1. That engine compartment showed a lot of signs of a higher mileage car. Such as different belts, and the air cleaner label peeling off and heat-worn, among other idiosyncrasies I noticed.
    2. The power antenna only goes up a few inches? Shouldn't be like that on a car with only 80 miles. That antenna should be going up all the way.
    3. That right front tire looks baby-ass bald.
    4. That window sticker (where's the other half by the way?) looks like a cheap photocopy taped to the window.
    5. Why not a look in the trunk or at the undercarriage? Those places will really tell you if a car has only 80 miles on it.
    I wish I could have come across this video 3 years ago - I could have made potential buyers aware of being scammed.

    I think it’s terrible to store away such a nice car and not enjoy it! He probably pulls that out of the garage twice a year and lets it idle for 30 minutes! Ridiculous! All the while, the under carriage rusts and the plastic and rubber parts rot out. And it doesn’t get to be enjoyed by someone who uses it for what it was made to do... drive.

    Definitely for a museum. Contact Jay Lenno. (Numb, sloppy power steering, very quiet, fancy coachwork, epitome of controlled but floaty suspension with big springs with truck-size shock absorbers, 75R15 tires. Truth be told, this is at the end of the land yacht, which coincided with early clumsy attempts of pollution control, which coincided also with poor QC from the big three. Smaller, well-made imports were about to eat their lunch.)
