Yes. It is best to practice on low consequence slopes (not very steep with few, if any obstacles) to grasp the mechanics, then increase the difficulty (progressively steeper, increasing number of obstacles).
Absolutely the same process…a little more cross slope run may be needed to gain some momentum before the turn back up hill in the very steep/deep or shorter tracks for the conditions to prevent it form trenching on too aggressive of a commit back to the slope with out enough speed to stay on top.
