SCRAMBLER 500 4X4 WOULD NOT START WITH KEY, IT WOUKD TURN OVER BUT NOT FIRE, IT HAD SPARK, IT WOULD START FINE WITH PULL ROPE. REMOVED RECOIL, FLYWHEEL AND SENSOR COIL. CLEANED SENSOR COIL, IT HAS TWO CIRCUITS, CLEANED DIRT AND FILINGS FROM IN BETWEEN TWO METAL STRIPS, ALSO ON NEWER MODELS THE SENSOR COIL IS ADJUSTABLE. I FILED MOUNTING HOLES SO I COULD MOVE CLOSER TO FLYWHEEL. ELECTRIC START NOW WORKS PERFECT. Did you have to remove the starter?
I am working on rebuilding a 1998 sport 400l. I am not sure where my oil pump is supposed to plus into to mix the oil with the gas can you help me with this one? Do you got a video or anything to help?
When I put the stator on the crankshaft gets really stiff and wont move. I’ve rewatched your video multiple times and can’t see what I’ve done wrong. Is this normal or have I missed something. Thanks for the great vid.
Hey I have a 1999 trail boss 250 I’m doing I top end rebuild and I went to replace my starter and that whole recoil case was full of oil that was mixed with water there’s no drain plug so I opened the case and cleaned it and I’m not sure is there supposed to be any lubricant in that case ? Since there was oil in it previously
There should not be oil or water there. A little oil could have come from a worn crank seal so you might want to check that and replace if it's leaking.
You have helped so much with this project. Thank you ! Now the bad: before I pulled the crank case and fly wheel and all that the atv always started. Figured I had a bad water pump, it was . I got everything put back together and now have to apark at all. My question is if the stator wasn’t lined up perfect to the mark will that cause no spark?
Brap Stuff everything is in place. I was really careful with the stator and I doubt I knocked it out of place. But how do i check the spacing and is there a special tool? If it’s not out of line I’ll run voltage tests and see if I can’t trace back to the issue.

Any advice on setting dynamic timing on a 95 explorer 400? Or should I just line up the stater and forget it ?

The stator shouldn’t be going on the crankshaft…not sure how that would even be done.

I'm just replacing the starter on mine but my bended always touches the flywheel if I'm correct it's not suppossed to touch until the starter ingages
That's correct. The rotation of the starter twists out the bendix which engages with the flywheel.
If you had to guess what could cause that mine never had a gasket just rtv but I doubt that the gasket will offset it enough
They do break and become stuck open. Just buy a new one for $10 and call it a day.

Did you bump the stator pulsar? It is possible that gap is off. Make sure your stator and spark plug coil grounds are connected as well.

There is a spec for the spacing I believe around 0.015"-0.030"
Do you have any info for the wiring for this
Hello brap, what specifically do you need?
Diagram or pic of the wires to the main box
Hey Brap! The wire colors and connectors should match from the magneto assembly to the CDI unit as well as the ground, regulator and rev controller.
