- In this video we take you to Kranjska Gora, Slovenia an alpine town near the mountains and glacial lakes of Triglav National Park. Tanner had been prepping for this race since April and it's a good thing too because it was NOT what he expected! Watch to find out why & how he did! Slovenia is beautiful. My favourite area to ride my motorbike. Breathtaking views, the clearest waters I ever saw, really friendly people. Loved it.

Congratulations Taner! I heard from you that you considered the trip to Lake Bled, I will recommend you Lake Bohinj which is a near to Lake Bled. You should visit both! Slovenia is a pearl, breath taking country! If you have time you should come to Serbia too, location south east from Slovenia, check out on Internet, but Slovenia is a very beautiful place! If you interested about Serbia I can give you guidance what to see. Kisses for Willow!

Years from now, when you are already back in the states and your daughter is in college your name will still be listed in the "Yearbooks" of this race/area as "the guy from germany" who finished 7th place and everyone who might google your name will just find a guy living in Idaho,
wisconsin or somewhere else in the US. That really makes me chuckle.

Thanks! To be fair, I placed 7th of the under 30 age group for men and somewhere around 17th or 18th overall. Either way, I was happy with the result and it was a fun atmosphere to be in.
I'm sure we will look back in years to come and it will bring back great memories.

We stayed near by in Austria next to Villach/Kärnten this year for our summer holiday ( Faak am See) which is also a beautiful landscape with many lakes and a region were they are absolutely " kinderfreundlich" I can recommend this area for a summer holiday with Willa. And we hiked up to the Dreiländereck where you can see the Julische Alpen and Kranskagora too.......

Awesome job Tanner! Another spot to check out in Slovenia other than Lake Bled is Lake Bohinj. Not as touristy but still gorgeous. Stayed in a hotel in Ribcev Laz, which was almost on the lake. Near there is also Savica Waterfall. A very nice hike up to a beautiful view of it.

Congrats, Tanner, that's a hard race, almost like mountain running. Glad you enjoyed your time here in Slovenia, I recommend also going over the Vršič Pass (just above Jasna Lake) into the Soča River Valley; as for Bled, it's also worth seeing the Vintgar Gorge nearby and the less well-known Lake Bohinj (if you take the cable car up the Vogel Ski Resort, you get lovely views of the Alps). Thanks for the video! :)

If you are in Slovenia, you have to visit the Postojna Grotto (second largest stalactite cave in the world)
or the stalactite cave in Skocjan which is also very beautiful.😊

When running relay I have always picked the parts that are more difficult/steeper and shorter to the ones that are longer and less steep/without incline.

Well, I guess Tanner just got accidentally naturalised. 😂 Good job, out of curiosity what was your time and how many meters climb were there?
My time was 1 hour 29 min 35 or 45 seconds (can't remember), and the elevation gain was 520 m split between two climbs. What a race!

Ah, my feet were so sore! I did buy some trail running shoes for my training and the race, I just think my feet weren't used to that much change in elevation 😂
