When I worked in the fields of the Pajaro Valley, in the 60s, we would get orders from the government and load a few trucks with produce. The crates were marked for Vietnam. My cousin Bobbie and I would pack magazines, cigarettes, and beer in between the vegetables we were picking mainly celery. We imagined our boys opening the crates and getting a smile on their faces never really knowing if the crates made it to Vietnam. When I was there, I remember seeing crates of produce similar to the ones we packed. Particularly the ones with the Pajaro Valley label. This trailer brings back so many memories and a tear thinking about all the brothers and sisters we left behind. Thank you Peter for continuing to share our stories. 🙏💪🌍🌏🌎❤️🇺🇸🖖
Right on / ¡Órale! . . . During this war, my great uncle Lindy had a Mexican restaurant in Thailand that primarily served soldiers on R & R (while my uncle was in Quang Tre, Vietnam, fighting... !!). Lindy had stories about what was shipped for the soldiers along with the masa and other ingredients (tequila! . . .). However, I like your story better. 👍 Shout out, Watsonville/Santa Cruz. Greetings from Japan.
I cried when I read this story a few years ago. How every service member he came across helped him make his way around Vietnam to bring beers to his friends is another fantastic part of the story. I hope the movie does these guys justice.
I'm pretty stoked for this. Looks like a phenomenal role for Zac Efron. Love how his career has continued to grow so much over the years, good for him!
@@richardople That could be a bit of a stretch, I think by this age Leo and Brad had multiple Oscar level films and nominations. No shade, I like the new stuff he has been trying, but I think Zac Efron still has not found that role yet - maybe this is it!
As a Mariner, this is absolutely true, he really did it. He snuck in a ship and brought beer to his friends, there is an actual photo of him with his buddies over there all huddled up drinking. They still talk about him today!
This needs to get Zac nominated and an award, the mustache, the comedic relief during the Vietnam War, definitely is giving me Robin Williams, "Good Morning Vietnam", vibes.
I've never expected that someone will make a film about this great adventure. This really happened and I didn't believe it the first time I read about it.
We see DiCaprio as being a lot more than Titanic, we’re starting to see Pattinson as being more than Twilight, and now it’s time that we start seeing Efron as being more than High School Musical.
@@glennhagstedt When an actor becomes famous at a young age doing a youth oriented role, it often takes years for them to be taken seriously. I say this as someone who believes in Efron as a credible actor.
I feel a good feeling when Zac Efron shows up on my timeline after a year of hoping he's happy and ok, like I hope he has a good shit every day like every man
I really like when actors take different roles that challenges their acting, Zac Efron is a good actor I hope he continues to challenge himself and gets the recognition he deserves.
Jack has been taking on cooler roles and I really want to see him paired up with a goat like Russel. This looks like it has all the makings of an amazing flick! Im excited
Smoky and the Bandit. Greatest BEER RUN EVER. That, and the one time i was on the toilet at the bar and they called" last call" 5 minutes. And i looked down and had no toilet paper.
I met the guy that Zac Efron plays. Turns out he went to the same school as me and he told me all about this years before it went public and it was over beer and cigars.
Although it’s story and comedy driven and not a cinematic ‘experience’, I hope a lot of us actually go to theaters to see it. Going to the theaters is a key component of America and it’s fading
is that a bad thing? this isn't a gung-ho pro-war let's-get-em war movie either, it seems like a lighthearted and inspiring period piece (as far as Vietnam War movies go)
Thank you for making this pops has been drinking pabts blue ribbon for as long as I can remember. First military issued beer. I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time.
I've actually heard of this story before! That's so cool they're making it into a movie. Hopefully I can watch it somewhere else other than Apple TV though.
Imagine a President doing that. All the soldiers get a surprise beer in a care package on some unexpected holiday. And there's a note. Then he goes on TV and says something like, "I'm going on a tour to visit as many units as I can. Keep your beers ready!" LOL, just one beer. So you can have a toast from your Commander in Chief. If a commander is going to leave the actual commanding to the professionals, then why not take such a tour? It's not like you'd be on the front lines or anything. You could give the most amazing moral boost ever by just paying a little visit to service members once in a while. They're bases all over the country too. If you've been to any airport, you've certainly been 30 minutes from a de facto military base. I.e. it would be easy for a president to incorporate base visits into his regular traveling schedule. Hell, other politicians too. Just call ahead to say you'd like to drop by and pay your respects. Then call out the boys at any local news channel that talks to you. Service members are a bit more inclined to vote for patriotism. They squint you in the eye like John Wayne and just see through all of your bullshit to get to the real grit of your character. If you have merit, you get the vote. There's something beautiful in that. All I'm saying is that if I ever were to try out some political aspirations, I'd show that I supported vets. Not "I support" like an endorsement button. But real support. Voting in their interests and to protect them. God, to help bring them home when they're on domestic soil and have become homeless. Can you imagine facing bullets and hellfire, then go from Murder Inc. to trying to make it as a civilian who has seen too much and carries a weight beyond words. A thousand yard stare. Something you read about and didn't think it could happen to you, but war is stress. And stress breaks people. Sometimes they can't be unbroken, but sometimes they can... they ought to get a bit of support at least. But they wind up... homeless. The statistics on how many homeless are vets and how many homeless have mental problems is staggering. Yeah, sometimes these are almost interchangeable. That's just fucked. I'd like to see some politicians who are ready to actually SUPPORT our vets. #Bring them home again.

I am loving Zac Efron getting older and taking these great roles. He's come such a long way since his Disney days. Good for him!
Especially cause zac efron is such a nice guy aswell. Deserves every praise and role he gets
Hairspray was the turning point, honestly. Perfect role and film to transition into more adult material

Absolutely all of this!! 💜
He sucks
His career reminds me of Brad Pitt and even Leonardo Dicaprio ... came on as pretty boy roles and evolved into solid thespians!

My thoughts exactly
I like Bill Murray and Zac Efron, Russell Crowe they are great actors.😀

The cast looks great....anything with Bill Murray gets watched💯
Hopefully near equal screen time for Bill and Russell to that of Zac.

Chickie Donahue was a Marine veteran. So he wasn't just some civilian that didn't know anything. This took some balls, and a big heart.

I just listen to this book on audible, it was recommended by my wife. Very interesting story.
