You can use arrow of regeneration to heal mid fight, if you got no better options, you can use any Bow (preferably wood) and hit yourself.

Why you gotta do grass dirty, you can use shears to make some pretty awesome farms of dirt grass, and tilled soil, whereas grass slabs are just a waste bc you can’t craft them back to keep farming.
