    I sold mine last year, but man, I loved the truck mode so much. Probably my favorite alt mode for any transformer I’ve owned.

      Definitely one of my favorite alt modes, he currently is hauling mp-10s trailer

    I got the “G1 version” repaint, which has subtly different colors and extra paint apps on it a few years back. It’s a personal favorite. They refined that one a bit. It has generally tighter joints and everything holds together a bit better.
    It’s really a breath of fresh air and a nice change of pace from both G1 toon and the whole MP/TT “don’t transform it or you’ll mess up the paint.” Very solid and sturdy build overall. Similar in many ways to how much fun Fans Hobby’s stuff is to get down off the shelf and just mess with. It’s nice to have stuff like this that just gives a different experience rather than just being “high end” all the time.

    I bought this because the design sort of reminded me of Transformers Prime

    Arguably one of the best designs for Optimus and one of GTs best releases, and doesn’t look out of place in a G1 MP display. I believe they have revealed a trailer for release at some point which really will complete the alt mode look. I find it such a shame that the quality of their figures have declined in recent years with poor tolerances and plastic quality. I still have their devastator which still holds up as a great figure except scale. Interested to see how they move forward as a company.

    Glad you like him!
    The bottom panel on his arm sits better if you flip in he grey piece that's inside his arm, as for the outerpanel yes that's sadly a bit loose.
    For his buttflap, i believe you can push on the part below it, that should keep it more sturdy

    This figure is great. My copy is a bit loose in the arms, but other than that, is a great IDW Optimus Prime.

    The arms near the shoulders are on a slider and those dark grey pieces fold in and slide into the small space to keep them from sliding back down and also secures the inside a bit better. I have the Debian knockoff of this guy.
    They only slide up like three or four millimeters which is enough for the width of that dark grey piece.

    • @TMReviews
      @TMReviews  2 года назад +1

      Yep, I figured that out after I filmed transformation but was too lazy to refill lol

    • @TheShadowKarl
      @TheShadowKarl 2 года назад

      @@TMReviews it is a small step that I s easy to miss. I was actually surprised it still closed up the way you had it without issue. As I said I have the Debian version and it is slightly different but those arm shields actually tab in better on mine as does the back flap and those lower arms. Mine also doesn't have loose legs.
      What does suck is they screwed in the ankles so tight that they cracked where they screwed in on one side and the other ankle is stressed so mine has a loose ankle joint on the right leg. I still love it but I wish they used diecast there instead of plastic.
      Despite that he is still my favorite Optimus Prime.

    I may have missed this but you didn't show the eye lit up. It looks really cool. Sadly it can't be like that all the time, but the batteries wouldn't be able to do that for long before wearing out!
    By the way, thanks for the review. I think some older boys are worth digging up for reviews. This is one of those molds I wish someone would dig up and refine just a bit more (add ratchets, better tabs, metal parts in a few places, figure out how to add an ab crunch and add joints for all the fingers). So much of the framework for a perfect figure is right here it just needs a slew of little improvements to put it over the top.

      @@TheShadowKarl would you happen to know what batteries are needed for him? Mine came without batteries

    • @TheShadowKarl
      @TheShadowKarl 2 года назад

      @@mico4767 hi, it turned out that is not easy to get to. It was a small 3V CR927. The writing on the battery was very hard to make out especially the 9 but I believe that is what it is. The battery is sandwiched between two thin pieces of silicone circuit board that are the same dimensions of the battery. The one side has a plastic piece for the switch which goes to the back of his head and the other side has the two LEDs that rest over transparent plastic to light up his eyes.
      I hope this helps!

    It's always kind of perplexed me as to why both this and the G-Creation version cover the leg wheels when the source never did...

  • @octobotimus
    @octobotimus 2 года назад

    Honestly feels like 3p transformations are getting less and less refined. They learned how to tabs tuff together and hide stuff more, but man these older figures seem better thought out to not be frustrating.

  • @keamu8580
    @keamu8580 2 года назад

    That is a really slick looking Prime mold, I like how it poses. I admit I don't love the kibbly, fiddly nature, though. The forearm panels just "sitting" doesn't agree with me and the shoulders look really fiddly too. This figure needs a few more tabs to keep things tight, maybe. Thanks for the review!

    It's a beautiful figure in each mode but I've never seen a figure that panels just lay on each other nothing tabs in,like it just lays there I think thats the main reason why I didn't buy this, I hear there's a trailer coming for him that can have their Megatron held in there like a holding cell its actually quite cool...thanks Sony 👍
