There's Techlead who's frugal and then there's Joma extravagant to the extreme.
Some say that the tech lead was also once young... I myself do not believe it.
That's because Techlead lives frugally even though he makes over 150k. Just because he has it doesn't mean he should splurge on stupid overpriced things to impress people. What happened to being humble? In the end, he's just a worker on someone else's time and not his own. Working for yourself is something to brag about, not being a beehive worker.

If CS students are no longer needed, then AI has become so advanced that there'll be few if any jobs left.
@@dannyn.6933 It will be unfortunate for the next generation in that era, but there will probably be something to replace Software Engineers by then.Or maybe CS people will still be needed just in a different way. I'd say 2060 AI will be relatively advanced. At that point, I'll be 65 then and ready to retire.

@@loklyu5691 it's not, it's just how the bubble is in silicon valley. An apartment is considered cheap if it's under $3k/mo. That's why developers there need to make at least 120k to live decently.

He may afford a 10k projector, that doesn't mean he can down pay for an apartment like this in the bay. This would cost close to if not over 1Mil. Beside, buying a place with that much mortgage really locks you up financially. It's a double whammy for general investment, on top of the monthly expenses, you put yourself in a place where financial instability can be disastrous thus forcing yourself to take no risks in life. You are essentially ALL-IN on real estate over other forms of investment or change in plans. Whether that's self-managed stock portfolio or starting a new business or anything.
Imagine being stuck with a house and having jf to maintain it and not being able to move cities

I have an economics degree, but now I want to get into CS. I don't want to go back to university, unless it's a masters degree. Should I do a masters or do a bootcamp? Thanks Joma.
Boot camp programs depend on your situation. If you have dependents like a wife/husband and kids then going back to school might be daunting to complete. Whereas a boot camp, you can complete in 5 months rather than four years. Boot camps can be looked at like this, they teach you the fundamentals skills to code, but there isn't so much of a deep dive in understanding what's actually going on. They just teach you enough to have an idea of how to do or build something, but not really so much on whats going on behind the scene.
Certain companies will consider you 'unqualified' because the skills you learned at boot camp have not prepared you in a way a University would. If you go the Bootcamp route getting a job might take longer to get rather than having a degree which is what they don't tell you when you sign up for a boot camp program. So instead of the false notion of ' you'll land the job right out of the boot camp!' it may take you longer than a month depending on what company and specialty your pursuing. Regardless of having a degree or not, projects are extremely crucial to your resume along with your technical skills.
Projects sit at the top along with technical skills, below that would be soft skills such as being an effective communicator, leader, etc. Some companies don't care about the degree but the skills, other companies want both. It really depends on what your aspirations are and specialty in CS such as being a software engineer, data scientist, Web Developer, IT, etc. In the end, your going to have to find creative ways to stand out among competing applicants with degrees and those who have don't have a degree.
Bootcamp. Master's would take too long + too much money.

I kinda feel bad for tech people living out West after watching this. His apartment is a slightly nicer version of one I lived in during college, except I had my own bathroom. Huge salaries are great, but damn is it rough how little it buys there.
