No weird moving around. No glamor. Just skill on view: clear precise touch, exquisite musical lines, a lovely instrument. And -- oh yes -- the genius of Bach. It's why we like Classical Music!
I don't know what exactly it is that I love about this particular fugue. And Schornsheim continues to show us her musicianship that is matched by few others who are alive today.
Einfach wunderbar!
The Kennedy harpsichord is exquisite. Good camera work highlighting it--the warm wood, the beautiful curves of the moldings, etc. A delightful contrast between its sober exterior and its floral soundboard. Kennedy makes his soundboards from VERY old wood, which has all sorts of advantages both structural and sonic. This instrument has a touchingly suave voice. Lovely video, thank you for it.
Strange to see the seats in the audience empty. Of course the crew got to listen, as do we at home (or wherever we are). I like to think a custodian, a delivery person, or perhaps an exploring child wandered in to the auditorium, drawn in by the beautiful sounds, and stood or sat at the back. And maybe, whether they experienced Bach’s music before or not, they were transfixed for a few moments, lifted away into a dream…
There’s something to be said about removing Bach’s music from these instruments. As a classically trained pianist I’m supposed to love listening to Bach in its original form but I think this sounds awful.
0:07 Prelude
3:02 Fuga
Wonderful interpretation and beautiful Prelude and Fugue. Mozart enjoyed so much the fugue that he made of it a transcription for strings quartett.

The only fugue subject that starts with a trill?
Bach tries all sort of things. He's a real researcher.
