Team Resale all the way. Not everyone can afford to buy direct from Disney. If it wasn't for the Resale Market, my dream of owning DVC would never have come true.
This!
Honey wake up! DVC Fan just dropped a new video. (sips coffee)
22:34 Full disclosure, my family would never consider ourselves foodies, so we eat whenever and wherever it is convenient. This last trip, our best dining experience (BY FAR!) was at Turf Club. Food was great, ambiance on the patio was relaxing, prices weren't bad. Saratoga Spring and Turf Club both get a bad rap, but I would definitely dine there again.
Wife and I really enjoy Saratoga, especially eating out on the terrace overlooking the stream.
"You can answer it too. You're very smart." lol. Amy and Paul have a wonderful/charming dynamic.
I think your hair looks very nice.
Just got back yesterday from a stay in the Contemporary Garden Wing-resort view. My Mom and I LOVED it! It was soooo quiet and location was great. Getting outside and onto the MK path was quick and easy. Would love to see those converted!
Funny, Treehouse is one of the places where I was thinking if Hubby lets me/us get DVC, it would be a good place to be. He is not a big park person, so the concept is for me to take kiddos to parks for early entry, come back after lunch for quiet time, nap time. Then family dinner somewhere. Also the resort allows fishing, and has fishing excursions for a fee, so send hubby off on one of those. That said, the home resort would be Animal Kingdom, savannah view. Both are essentially Disney, but a bit removed from main Disney.
If there were a Disney Cruise porting out of CA (near Disneyland) that cruised to Hawaii/Aulani I would totally book that cruise! and if the cruise continued to the Tokyo Disneyland, etc ... that would be an amazing Adventure by Disney! Just sayin' ... 😁 Your thoughts appreciated.
Oh Yes Please
We booked a treehouse villa for Thanksgiving through DVC rental store, so that’s at least one! 😂
It is a delight to listen to this video. You are both extremely knowledgeable about WDW and DVC-specifc topics and offer sage advice.
I have seriously thought about why is it ever good to have contracts with different use years. i think you can have a different use strategy when the properties are completely different and you use the points differently.
for example i think a February use year is optimal for summer beach use-like Hilton head.
and since i go to WDW in Nov-March, then the optimal use year is October. So i would prefer different use year for HHI contracts than for any WDW theme park area contracts.
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! :)
We LOVED the treehouses when we stayed there.
Skyliner, please add that for these hotels. The first time we stayed on the property was at Yacht Club (it was the cheapest deluxe hotel). The experience of being on the property was a game-changer! We had seen the DVC Direct Booth in EPCOT and, I think, in MK. But once we stayed, we became hooked and knew we would buy in. We started with buying direct and wanted to buy BEACH CLUB ONLY. They had to wait for a contract to buy from "the resale market" to sell directly to us, and that is how we found DVC Resale. In real-time, we could compare and see we were saving so much $$$$ buying DVC RESALE that it was a no-brainer.
You look great, Paul is a lucky guy.😊😊. Disney is going to stop all new hotel rooms after Poly unless attendance rebounds.
21:00 you talk about going to new places but staying DVC. My family went to Peppa Pig Land one day for a little get away. It was so cute and our daughter loved it. It’s fun to stay DVC but escape the bubble. Definitely more info would be welcomed.
Regarding having 2 different use-years, I think it’s helpful to potentially avoid being in a situation where you have “use or lose” points for a reservation. Our June use-year points have to be banked by Jan 31, so we also have a March use-year that can be used from March-May with less risk of losing points if a reservation needs to be canceled or rescheduled.
Great show Amy and Paul !
Thanks!
Thank you for being good Teachers!
summer house is amazing!!
Split stay with little kids is fine. We just make sure to have at least 3 days at a place and limit to one transfer now. We love having family in New areas with different plans. It breaks up the trip. Something to look forward to halfway thru.
Love your information. ❤️ 💙 Amy, I'm w you. I try not to wash my hair every day. You both always look great! 😊 🏰
Helpful and fun info as always - thanks for educating us - even those of us who have owned longer than you have - we still need to know what's going on! 🙂
Thanks for the information.
It‘s not surprising that the same or similar skyliner models are found in so many European places, considering that the manufacturer, Doppelmayr is an Austrian company and industry market leader.
Good morning, the hair is all good. And the matching glasses are cool
Fly non stop out of Boston it’s a long flight but easy to do. We go 8;Or 9 days every other year.
We are split stay fans as well. This summer we did a mainly resort stay at Boardwalk for 4 nights and Bay Lake for 4 nights to ride Tiana's Bayou.
DVC resale has given us the opportunity to stay at resorts we normally wouldn’t stay at or afford regularly. We are doing a split stay next month. 6 nights at AKL 1 bedroom & 3 nights at Vero Beach.
stayed at the Treehouse last year and liked it. there is the boat also. otherwise I don't like SSR. ive done split stays a few times. in fact last year did Treehouse, CC cabin (which I loved) and AKL savanna. in Dec the way it worked out due to availability I have 4 resorts over 4 nights.
Another Michael DVC member here, but in the Southeast. 😊
GM,
Enjoy your show and you guys are a Great team! One question is , As resale DVC members, Are allowed to to some members only events? Are they very strict on allowing resale members participate in such events?
As a DVC resale owner, you are not allowed to participate in any Member Extra benefits. Sometimes if you book a tour on the Disney website, you may get a discount because the site doesn’t know if you’re a Direct or Resale owner. Hope this helps.
Hey guys! I love your show and I'm binge watching so many episodes. 😂
Not sure if i missed it, but i don't understand how the dvc cabins are different than other properties. A trust?
Also, since you are getting new viewers please explain rofr. (I'm good but not everyone will understand.)
Hello! Thanks for the feedback! Here is a video that will hopefully help with ROFR and some other DVC terms: ruclips.net/video/wgnMpLuFeuo/видео.htmlsi=ckIpPh8TmBfcwrSW.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
Does it really matter what your use year is? Apart from not wanting your use year in the month you normally visit?
Love graphics
Winter Garden is a nice town.
Hello! I’m closely investigating a resale contract right now BUT: Two things I’m wondering about: 1. What does the availability list look like? I cannot see the actual availability list and I’m concerned that it isn’t good and here I’ll be with a contract. 2. I really, really want a Boardwalk contract but am so hesitant about an 19 year contract…..ugh…..just unsure about where to buy. Looks like Saratoga Springs but not my 1st choice!!!
As Derek DeBoer says, “Buy where you love to stay!” Availability depends on your 11 month or 7 month window. Also depends on time of year. If you owned at Boardwalk, you’d have the benefit of booking at 11 months out and therefore have a great advantage to book during popular times of the year , like Christmas. I bought 150 pts at SSR through DVC Resale Market because I wanted at least a 30 year contract and the savings. At 7 months, I’ve had the opportunity to book at almost every resort except Beach Club, Boardwalk, and Grand Californian.
@@allanmayo7552 oooohhhhhh Allan, thank you for this information. It’s a tough one because I would like to leave a 30 year contract to my nephews and niece as well…obviously, I will use the contract and take them with me, or go alone, so a 30+ year contract is a better investment with the risk that I will not get in my favorite resort. I’m also looking at splitting the points purchase between Saratoga and Copper Creek, which I love as well. Just not as much as Boardwalk. Tough decision and I wish Disney would let us know their plans for the 2042 resorts…there are many.
What makes you say Disney has given up on promoting the Aulani resort to the Asian population? Having been recently, we saw a very good number of Japanese families who had the "member" pool wristbands. A very good percentage of the staff, maybe 30% or more, was Japanese speaking. I'd say guests from other Asian countries are most likely renting points or paying cash for their stay, but it would surprise me if Disney isn't still actively engaging their Japanese potential DVC member guests.
While I'm waiting for my approval to join the facebook group, I thought I'd post a question here in case I forget to do it later:
- I feel like I should already know this - if you borrow points from a future year so that you can book the room you want in the 7-11 month window, can you switch the points you're using at the 0-7 month window so you don't have to borrow? For example, I have a contract at CC and Riviera - my family wants to stay in a 3 BR at Riviera, and I don't have quite enough Riviera only points unless I borrow a little from the next year, but at 7 months out my CC points would be enough to make the difference. Would the borrowed points go back or are they stuck in the new use year?
Hi Dave! Once you take advantage of the home resort booking window, you will be locked into only being allowed to use home resort points for that reservation. So for example, if you book Riviera at the 11-7 month home resort window, you won’t be able to swap those points out on that reservation for anything other than Riviera points.
I always feel like split stays feel like I’ve shortened my trip. 🤷♂️ Idk why it’s just that my mind says “I have 3 nights here and 4 there” instead of 7 total…I was the kid that takes 100 Pennies instead of a dollar bill😂
Another question that I am planning on posting in the group but maybe someone can just answer here - I just learned from your recent videos that you can transfer points from one of your own contracts to another - so I could transfer from my CC contract to my Riviera contract (probably making my other comment irrelevant). Is there a limit of how many points you can transfer?
Hello! There is no limit on how many points you can transfer. However, transfers are from membership to membership, not contract to contract. For example, if you have two different use years/memberships with your Riviera and CC points, you can transfer one over to the other membership to use together at the 7 month window. The points maintain their home resort and use year so you won’t be able to use them together at the home resort window.
Dog question, is that Hermes on the sofa and does he let you two sit there or do you need to push him off😅
That's Hermes! - And he has claimed the sofa as his own personal dog bed. Lol
@@DVCFan ha, ha, our dogs over the years always claim one of the two love seat sofas in our living room. And if visitors sit there our dog stares them down.
Thinking about BLT, it is not themed at all and as there are complaints that the new resorts lack theming I believe it all started with BLT. So the lack of theme isn't a new thing, what do you think?
It's themed to contemporary. Lots of resorts refreshed since then with theme and lighter theme. Theme doesn't have to mean over the top or "tacky". I like those themed resorts but they mostly approached resorts in last 10 years with mild touches for cost and pleasing casual guest.
For My 30th Birthday In 2026 At Honolulu Hawaii In 2 More Years I'm Going To A Resort Called DISNEY AULANI HOTEL Which I've Never Been There Before But I'll Go There To Meet Characters Like DUFFY AND SHELLIEMAY AND OTHER CHARACTERS There As Well While I'm There
Amy the struggle is real. You go ahead and wash your hair everyday.
Biking and long walks are not going to be a great option for families (especially those who fly) with small children and strollers, or elderly toward the end of the evening coming back from my long day in the parks in the cabins. I know these are going to work perfect for some families, but they are going to be so imperfect for many others.
Artist palate is the stupid character dinning next to the bar the menu sucks there and characters just don’t fit in, it used to be good
Hi! I think you’re thinking of Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge.
Artist Palette is the quick service over at Saratoga Springs. Definitely similar names though!
@@DVCFan my bad for sure, I should have known we bought saratoga the day it opened they had a parade at the resort and at what was downtown Disney there was a woman who sang some songs wish I could remember. Wilderness was our first Saratoga or second and then they hooked us at a party for Aulani they had an opening party at the top of the world. They even got us to buy a founders tile at Aulani , they are over by the lawn. It’s been a fun time, plenty of good trips now we share points out with the kids. We still go 3 times a year.
