- growing up in the Caribbean , jamaica to be specific we had to wash and clean the chicken before cooking else our parent would go silly on us haha. We would always use vinegar and lime juice or lemon juice freshly squeezed because this would cut down the rawness and help to clean it , next we would wash then rinse under running water. This method was use to clean all our meat and not just chicken, as mom would say we don't know where or how clean where its coming from is..... To this day nothing has change still using this and method and now sharing with you all..... do share with ur friends and family....

Nice one, always together with lemon flavor. Good job
Am definitely going to try this washing method.
No need to “wash” it. As long as you have a refrigerator your chicken will not grow bacterial for at least a few days! But if you use it as a brine then it will definitely make your chicken taste good. And yes, brining requires a rinse
Nothing like my lime and vinegar to wash my meats looks very fresh and clean 👍
Great #shorts as usual with your good tips
I use lemon and vinegar.
I just learnt something new nice

Great job 💕
Wow this is very interesting
Really i can not resist your yummy and amazing recipes especially this one with the checken meat.keep up sharing and see you around
Wow lemon juice it will taste so so yummy I guess
Thank you for this video
Ur welcome. Thanks for watching
Wow this is really interesting
I’m going to try this tomorrow , I’m making Pozole to welcome the first day of fall, how long do I let the meat sit in vinegar?
It doesn’t need to sit .. just rinse the meat with fresh water after using the vinegar. Do all of this in the sink and clean the sink after. And as always cook the meat until it’s fully cooked before eating.
@@DreCooks ok thank you, yes I will def clean the sink and everything around after this process.
Learnt! Interesting
A load of extra work and contamination risk for no reason. I cook chicken thighs regularly, never wash the chicken but it tastes great and I've never once felt ill aftetwards
same. these people have the goofiest superstitions with zero science to back it up.
Good for you but did you all that stuff left in the bowl 😊
Washing chicken isn’t just about cleanliness.
@@1991-present i know, its yalls superstitions n sheeit.
@@alphawolfgang173 it’s about lifting the film off the chicken so that the seasoning is penetrated into the meat better.. but go off😄
Nice and clean
Love these clips! Keep them coming! 🔥
Nice thanks for sharing
awesome! thanks for sharing this
You did this so well
Thanks for this at least I know how to wash my chicken next time
Yep lime and vinegar...got to wash that chicken well
Its a flash marinade. Ive seen videos where folks tested the difference on fried chicken and the breading stuck better on the marinated chicken. Simply wiping away the slime or wet film of chicken with a wet paper towel had similar results as the marinade. The difference is even if you rinse off the solution in water it adds flavor. So both were found to have good results on fried chicken. This method can impart flavor whereas simply wiping off the wet just gets the good fried chicken results. I might try this method next time. Just gotta be careful with that splashing.
Yep. Just make sure to sanitise and clean all the surfaces in around the area after
What else can I use besides white wine vinegar?
Lime or lemon juice
I hate the smell of raw chicken, so this is super handy! 👏👏
If this method was called anything other than "washing" I could get behind it.
This doesn't kill bacteria.
why?
@@Unlimitedbutlimited washing/cleaning implies sanitation, disinfection, This process doesn't accomplish those. You have to cook chicken to a certain temperature to kill the bacteria that's inside.
It makes sense to make it smell better, get rid of any undesirable blemishes and bone fragments, and apply a little lemon flavor. The people that have this process also typically have the process of bleaching their sink, which is always smart when you're dealing with raw meat, but especially chicken.
I'm cool with the process, but not calling it cleaning or washing.
It doesn't kill bacteria. I don't know why it's called washing either. It's basically a marinade where you rinse it off. Which I'm thinking you can just leave the marinade on and wipe off the excess when ready to season/cook.
@@serjicalforceWashing chicken does remove some of the bacteria. After the chicken is washed, it is seasoned and cooked. This is not a marinade.
@@strawberrythedancerSure, the bacteria present on the outside. But then you'll cook it which will kill the bacteria on the inside as well as the outside. So you're wasting your time if your goal is to clean the chicken.
yes, you watch them well.
Very unnecessary step.
I put salt and lemon then rub the lemon and put more salt and rinse it out in a bowl with water
Very informative
wooow my mum does the exact same thing :)
I always wash with lemon & lime and take fat of! Male sure you rinse it.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Absolutely . Meet must be clean. Just remember to clean the surfaces around the area after
I always use salt to wash my children but now have learn another new way
Never thought about vinegar for cleaning but I never miss lime or lemon 🍋
Either can be use but both are even better , thank so much
This looks like a good way to get rid of that raw chicken smell. Thanks for the info!
Your chicken is most likely spoiled if it smells
Now lemme see how u wash ur sink after washing the chicken
ajax and bleach spray
Why do people wash their chicken?
For some of us it’s cultural
Can I use lemon if I don't have lime?
Sure.
Pro tip. After you clean use bottle or distilled water not tap water.
✊🏾👊🏾
Then use organic non bleached recycled (or upcycled) paper towels to pat dry
Good. I usually use salt.
First step add flour and salt rub and wash then do this as second step!
Nice
You don’t need to wash your meat this would be more seasoning than anything else cooking it cleans it stop the cap
And what exactly are you preventing by doing this?
World war iii
Nice now you have bacteria everywhere.
kek, these people never cease to amaze me with their goofy ass superstitions.
@@alphawolfgang173yeah I get brining your chicken in salt and vinegar, that help add flavor and keeps the chicken juicy. But adding vinegar then washing it off is counterproductive and he was splashing the waster every where.
Just cook the chicken to the appropriate temp and it will kill the bacteria.
Why aren’t there any comments saying this was debunked..
Cause it’s not bro you wash your chicken to get the goop, blood and dirt out🤷🏽♀️
@@Orchids-_-if you live in the US, and bought this from a supermarket, all of that has already been cleaned out
@@jc43261jc that’s not how it works.. once the meat is cut then they wrap it and transfer it to a store. and trust me the blood and goop it’s not already cleaned out. And you’re right I do live in the US but whenever my family gets me there will always be some kind of goop & blood in there.
@@Orchids-_- “goop” will always be there, as it is mostly fat and connective tissue. Blood is absolutely not in there, it is drained from all animals before they divide the cuts, they cannot really sell meat in large quantities with blood in it. Again, this really depends on where you get the meat from, but any factory processed and packaged meat is cleaned, you do not need to clean it.
Bro, if it’s not obvious you’re talking to a little kid. Notice he or she said, “when my family gets me”. The kid is like 10, you’re arguing with a 10 year old who is big on washing his/her chicken. I can’t make this up. Pretty much sums up how dumb of a practice it is to “wash” chicken though
In my home land that’s the only Way we wash any meat... if it’s not done this way we don’t eat it... 🇭🇹
Thanks for been here 🙏🏾
That's not washing, that's marinating and rinsing.
Perhaps
should get some lawrys dish soap!
Some bottled SARS?😂 Ha jk. Nice video, I'ma try this.
I feel bad for anyone eating at your home who gets sick from the this third world practice. Store bought poultry in the United States does not need to be washed.
I feel bad for you. As third world countries raised their own chicken. Not store bought. Go and educate urself before speaking ur little mind. Now please excuse urself off my platform.
@@DreCooksYour point?😂Not 1... just like washing chicken
This is my platform and you need to leave!!!
Dre, you sound entitled and privileged
@@DreCookswhat you are doing doesn’t actually clean the chicken it’s more of a brine
@@DreCooks lol, you literally did not clean anything off that chicken. there was absolutely no reason to do this. what do you think you are accomplishing here???
So hilarious on different levels. Mostly that you think this washes or cleans the meat…How does this nonsense get passed down generations!
Definitely the lime does the magic , including removal of the raw chicken smell.
Any and all meat ??!!!
Pretty much , it’s use to remove rawness mostly especially in poultry n pork as only by cooking fully will all the bacteria die and then the meat is safe to eat. , I don’t really wash cuts of steak or lamb . However, lamb stew, curry goat or beef stew , those are getting washed.
wow these meat look sexy, a hope nuff meat leave so it can fill my tummy
Keep up the good work Dre you are going to go places❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much
For "washing" chicken?marinating seasoning maybe...washing?Please explain
I am black i feel ashamed not washing my store bought chicken 😭. Anyways I will try this method i am going to cook jollof rice
why though? wait, do you think you're gonna actually make it safer to eat or something?!? lol
DO NOT WASH RAW MEAT!!

It’s the opposite of hygienic. It’s disgusting and gets bacteria splashed around.
No professional kitchen washes their meat.
lol me want the breast, thats my favorite part of the chicken
I used to wash my chicken with lime and vinegar, but now I just toss it in the dishwasher on quick wash. Just put your lime juice and vinegar in the compartment for dish detergent and you’re all set! Lmao
LOLLLLL
Ur no5 suppose to wash chicken with tap water. The lemon juice was just fine. Omg why is this myth method still around?!?!
For some of us this is cultural to clean our meats before cooking it. That will never change
I have to try that cleaning method for when cleaning my chicken Dre‼️‼️
Spread those germs all over your kitchen even though they wouldve been killed when the internal temp reaches 165f
Meat a fi clean
Why is that people never clean steak?
Some of us do wash beef but as fora cut of steak it self. Can’t say
They should wash their ground beef
yes you must wash that meat well.
Yes clean to the bone ready to seasoned and cooked now
Wish you could tag all those white youtubers who are out here advocating to not wash their meat and dem no know nutten
I’m white, not a RUclipsr but I’ll always always wash my meat especially chicken!
Well you clearly don't know anything about germs 🤣
Stay away from raw meat of you are adamant it needs to be washed.
You don't wash chicken, it's stupid.
Just like you dont know english? You dont need to wash chicken because all germs are killed when you cook it, duh.
