I agree with most of the scores...However, I can confirm from my exp YES One Plus Open atm is the best Folding phone as its got everything working well. Especially the cameras in Night and Portrait are superb and brilliant battery life in my usage and the best implementation of the split screen multitasking
Thanks for all the videos around the Chinese foldables. Ironically you helped me with my purchase decision for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 because for me the carbon fiber variant seems to disguise as a slab phone the most out of the bunch, including the Z fold 5 which understandably wasn't even in the running (though I appreciate that it exists because it basically got the momentum going on the foldable phone concept). On a more niche note, for those willing to take the risk with unlocking the bootloader and rooting, there's somehow a custom ROM scene for this foldable and rooting grants so much more granular control over the CPU/GPU, which can translate into major battery gains without any loss in performance for light to mid intensive use cases. It's not for the faint of heart and there's a lot of tinkering involved but the freedom it grants is amazing. I didn't think I'd enjoy using foldables as much as I do but I've basically stopped using my tablet.
Great video Mike, for me the scoring looked like this Huawei 17, Honor 15, Xiaomi 13, OnePlus/Oppo 18 and Google 12, granted I haven't used every phone, just my hypothesis . It would have been cool if you had included the Samsung Z Fold 5, Huawei Mate X3 and Vivo X Fold 2 as they were both released this year and then you could have included an honorable mention for the phone that finished 6th.
I recon this video has been the best way to review, and compare the top folds, also your vids have been the most interesting generally regarding the latest phone tech. thank you AD channel
Great list! My list is dependent upon what I have available in the US (I have Verizon). That leaves me with the One Plus Open, Pixel Fold, and the Fold 5. I have a Fold 4 and have been a Z Fold user since the Fold 2. 1. One Plus Open, Z Fold 5, and lastly the Pixel Fold. Samsung has gotten lazy with not widening the front screen which is disappointing so if they don't step up this upcoming year with a redesign I will be switch to the next rendition of the One Plus Open hopefully with wireless charge (I have too many to not have a phone with that capability)
I just pulled the trigger on the Pixel Fold over the OP Open being in Canada. With the beta software allowing app expansion AND you can have a 5x5 app grid. Im sold. No regrets. Also the aspect ratio of the main display makes more sense for youtube. Whats the point of having a big square screen when you can get more video real estate on a normal slab phone.
Buen video merecedor, no soy fans de ninguna marca, pero busco autonomia😌 y el honor es bueno en eso y lo he comprobado viene de huawei que optimizan bien esa baterias, saludos 😎👌🏾Average Dad.
I am really hyped for the Honor Magic V2, especially since I heard you can update it now with Google Services. But what will be the difference between a V2 from China updated with GSM and a V2 sold in Europe after the global launch in January? I am asking bc the preceding Magic Vs started at 1600€ in Germany a couple of months ago. So if the V2 starts at a comparable price in 2024, it won't be your price winner anymore and everyone will be tempted to import it cheaper from China (1300€ now). Thus, I imagine they might build in some software differences or hurdles to encourage Westerners to buy locally at a higher price. Any ideas how such differences might look like? Really unsure whether to take the risk of importing now.
I even found a Vs2 for 970€ on Aliexpress, but it only ships to Switzerland, not Germany. No idea, though, how legit that is and if the GSM update for the V2 is also available for the Vs2
Any idea how to get the android auto on my magic v2? I took the plunge. Got it last week and then the update on GMS. Loving it all banking apps payments work....
Thank you very much Dad, I liked this video very much. I appreciate a lot! I am very glad to see that the V2 is rated better than the Mix Fold 3, since it has Google services via the update. I always liked the design of the V2. Now I live in Belgium and I am negotiating with some sellers to buy their "second hand" Oneplus Open. I am willing to pay max. €1200 and I thank it will be possible to get one at this price. If I can sell my Fold 5 for €900/€950, that would be a great deal for me. Dad, do you have info about how to migrate from Samsung to Oneplus? Especially the notes. Thanks!
My favorite phone of all time was the Hauwei P30 Pro. I believe it was the last to include Google. Loved that phone. I can only imagine how nice a modern Hauwei Foldable would be to use. I just cant live without Google services.
I agree with almost everything you mentioned except for your favorite to use. I realize that this is your preference, but i believe the fold5 edges out the pixel fold for 5th... just on software alone. However, I do as I mentioned agree with your other sentiments regarding these phones. Oneplus Open is # 1.
Great video overall, but I have to disagree with the "build quality" category. It's the only device with water proofing in the list. It's also, correct me if I'm wrong, the only one with wireless charging. Guess there should have been a "overall hardware features" category or something like that 😅 which also included the quality of the screens for example. I also think you should have scored each device individually from 1 to 5, not compared to the others. That way a device the scores would have made more sense with any device getting 1 or 2 points for a category just because it's not as good as the others. Sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining too much it's not my intent.
WOW, at 1:28, that is literally exactly how I would place them! 😅 OMG at 4:54 was a shocker! I didn't expect that, but I trust your reviews absolutely over any reviewer 👍😮🙂

Good video AD. Have not seen or interacted with any of those devices. Way out of my prince range to even try to justify buying either of those. Anyways, on the point about the pixel build quality - simply from looks it just looks cheap. The more squarish design and the stupidly thick bezzeles of the large screen it looks like a 2016 toyota infotainment screen 😅
@@injinerconev I do agree about the bezels. However, most people have said they very much enjoy the shorter cover screen, and the bezels make the inside screen have a better aspect ratio. Would much prefer to have the bezels than not.
@@jacksonburger2081 Yes, design is subjective and all and the build could very well be super solid. To my eye it will remain the biggest waste of those expensive building materials, because it reminds me of watching TV in the wrong aspect ratio where everyone looks too short and too wide. It could look better in person so if I see one perhaps that would change my mind. It will still be a Google phone which is a big no no for me, but I do love the Pixel 8 and 8 pro's designs and they generally look fancy so was expecting their foldable to be similarly slick.
