Some players make their opponent play one more ball. Halep makes herself play one more ball, or one more set. I just wish she would go for the winner more often.
You don't watch a lot of women's tennis I see. Almost all of this new generation of players (22 and below) use a great deal of variety, including angles, slice (forehands and backhands), drop shots, off-pace, power, deep reset shots, off-pace serves, volleys, drop volleys, tweeners. There is a middle generation of counterpunchers (Halep, Stephens, Svitolina, Suarez Navarro, Cornet, Kerber) between the Williams Sisters and Osaka's generation. But these new girls (in Osaka's generation) are AMAZING!
@@TotalTennisGeek I do watch women's tennis, which is why I make the remark that women's tennis is quite one dimensional for the large part. After Justine Henin retired, the hasn't been a single "wizard" in women's tennis who has had a steady successful career. And please, Kerber is not an example of anything in tennis, certainly not tennis technique.
@@manuelsoto9134 yep! She should take off some of the spin and hit through the ball when the time is right. With her willingness to take the ball early, she can do a lot more damage with a flatter backhand.
Polona played great in the firs two sets. But Simo can be such such a fighter even on a bad day for her. She can be a kind of pit bull, she just won't let go.
Hercog was hitting with much greater depth on her shots while too many of Halep's were landing near the service line. Halep needs to keep the balls much deeper and to hit out much harder on her shots.
When She was talking to hersefl on The court that was The thing She was saying.she knew that but The power that Hercoc put in her shots was Amazing made it difficult for Halep

Hercog has some wonderful shots. One of the few women who hit slices and inside out forehands authoritatively.

She needs to turn that backhand into a weapon.

really nice handshake, both players smiling is good to see :)
Maybe cause they played doubles together in 2011 Roland Garros.. so they have to know each other
What a high/huge tennis player is Polona Hercog, literally! Great win, Simona!
She was really focused today. The tie-breaker she simply didnt feel it passing because of the narrative of the game occupying her mind :) Dats my girl
Ce zambet frumos are Simona. What a beautiful smile she have😘😘👍👍❤️❤️. Come on Simona!!!!!!!🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴
Happy to see her smile 😙😀
Halep is so Nadal-like when winning a point.
Yes! proud fan here. good luck to next round 'til the finals Simona.
My sweet Halep.

Simona!
Simona!
Simona!
Simona is a giant!!!
Hercog tough like hell! Simona showed again that she was world number one for good reasons...and she will be again🥉
💗💗💗 IL GRANDE CUORE di HALEP. 💗💗💗
Simona is a cutie!
Simona, ai fost fabuloasă!
Good fight,Simona!.
Hercog should be on top list. Look forward to watching her future performances!
Great fighting Simona! Congratulations! Win Miami please!
WTA vs ATP forehand. Hope to see more of Hercog.
Impressive play by Hercog. Ran out of gas towards the end. Halep definitely not playing her best. Maybe not being able to by her opponent.
Very good
They played doubles in RG 2011
6:51 where is that crucial amazing killer shot by Halep down the line that made the score 3:0 or smth?? Wtf, wta?!
The difference between Simona and the rest is she hits winners when she needs them, the others hit errors when they need winners.
i love hercog's play style. seems like this happens to her a lot, strong early performance then some endurance issues?
Hercog is amazing! If she had a world class coach she would go very far with her skills! Congrats to Halep though but please stop grunting....
I love Steffi's footwork

Hercog is amazing
Eeee Halep,
Number One !!!
Congrats Halep
Halep leads the H2H, 2:1. Hercog to passive in this match. With her style of tennis and coming to net she should be defeating Halep more comfortably.
whos here after the Cori Gruff game?
I think Polona Herloq is Good Players than Simona , but She's not good mentality
FELICITĂRI SIMONA
Hercog has a strong forehand. Her backhand is not so dangerous.
I don't think Raducanu is going to have an easy 1st round in Transylvania against Hercog, based on this playing...!
I dont know how to explain but hercog is the only female which doesnt have the same forehand as the rest. It like she has a more male forehand
Halep needs to zip it. She makes way too much noise.. it's not fair to the quiet ones. Fine them.
Process ... Process... Process
Fortza Romaniei
Simona is such a fighter. What's up w all these women w such ugly tatoos,...did Hercog et al run out of paper?
Halep win by luck and hard work
What luck, please, just hard work. Luck have you when sitt in your couch.
Will be out in round 16..
gede adi permana You wrong here, just reached the quarter-finals by beating Venus 6-3 6-3
