They did such a fantastic job with this one and Don still sounds great! wait until you hear " Vincent "! It is absolutely beautiful! Thanks for the Home Free reactions.
Home Free regularly switches lead in a song. Some of my favorites are those when they all have a moment to shine. It depends on the song. This is such a long song that each sang a verse.
Wow. If Rob is your favorite, you're REALLY gonna love their latest release...actually featuring Don McLean again with one of his other hits, *Vincent* (Starry, Starry Night)!! OMG, it's STUNNING and Rob absolutely kills it! 😳❤🎶💯
I fell in love with home free's cover of the song. My church. that was the first song I ever heard from them. I was lucky enough to have them go perform 2 hours away from me north of Boston. I drove spent the night didn't care about the expense. It was so worth it. They put on a great show. I highly recommend if you get a chance to see them. Please make that happen.
Yes this was done during the pandemic.Home released a lot of amazing videos during that time. They just released Vincent ft Don McLean on Friday it is amazing 😊 Austin Brown is leaving the group in the fall after their Crazy-er Life Tour
Such a great collaboration. Don sounds great for his 70’s. Vincent is wonderful. Love Home Free! Good one MMB.😍😄 This was during Covid hence the boxes.
Love this remake of this classic song. Can't believe it came out 50 years ago. Don McLean still has a good voice for his age. And love hearing all the guys take a turn in a verse. Poor Adam had to do such a long stretch of beatboxing but he nailed it. Think the song is about 8 min. long. Don McLean received his Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame recently & Home Free was invited to sing a portion of this song there. What an honor for them. "American Pie" pays tribute to the loss of 3 legends who died so young (Buddy Holly, Richie Valens & The Big Bopper). A lot of references in the song are made to many artists from the early days of music including Elvis, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Byrds & others. Don McLean again collaborated with Home Free on his song "Vincent". It was just released last week. Hope you check it out too.
I agree with you on Rob this man has talent. But they all do but I’m partial to Rob. But in this song Adam Chance took it. He just had the best voice for this song and he nailed it perfectly it. Thank you for sharing this video. ❤
What an honor it must be to be able to sing with Don McLean and the result is so great. With a Home Free twist but still respecting the original. The harmony is amazing again. And what a great voice Don McLean still has. My childhood memory of this song is that I always had to sing along. And now I do that again.
Home Free and Don McClean did justice to this classic song. I still get chills at that part towards the end when it all slows down. Beautiful work of art.
The Butts remix , by them , if you haven't yet needs to be next ! if you did it I can't find it . please , please for your listening and watching pleasure . you can thank me later . ( if you've done it then nevermind )
Sometime during making the documentary, "The Day the Music Died," Don McLean invited Home Free to collaborate with him on a remake of "American Pie." (Really cool documentary!)
I HAVE MY TICKETS FOR SEPTEMBER 22 IN LANCASTER PENNSYLVANIA. EVEN THOUGH AUSTIN WILL NOT BE THERE iT WILL BE GREAT BECAUSE THE REST OF THEM ARE STILL THERE AND I GET TO CHECK OUT THE 3RD ADAM LOL.
Dude, you didn’t spend an instant considering the lyrics! That’s fine if that’s what you feel like doing BUT there was a virtual cottage industry that, for decades, tried to work out what every reference meant-it’s practically a crossroads biography between R&R and history. (I believe the questions have all been answered and can be found somewhere on the internet). (This is really amusing to me: I figured you would be running around (metaphorically) trying to figure out some of the references; instead you’re indifferent-the entire commentary is taken up with excitement over the performer/performance. Kudos to them, it was first-rate and enjoyable-and they obviously took great pains to model (not duplicate) the sound from the released studio version with it’s melodic “polish” retained. Deft & respectful while being original & highly musical; short of a divine visitation I don’t think you can ask for more.) Hey, it’s what you reacted to! 😄 We asked for it, we got it. 🌝
[well slap my bottom! This is the *second* reaction to American Pie. Explains why lyrics weren’t mentioned? Seems likely as they were in the first-author-reaction. Gotta keep a TARDIS handy when hop-skipping through versions of the same song by multiple artists!]

They did it for the 50th year celibration. They sang it again in Hollywood when Don got his star on music row.
