  • In this episode, we enjoy swimming at Bitter Springs and Mataranka, the Nathan McWhippy whip cracking show in Mataranka, and then head to Kakadu. Should you Kakadu or Kaka-don't? We think Kakadu! It was so beautiful! The Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr was the most amazing we have seen so far on our trip, and the sunset was like being on an African savannah.
    Hot tips from this episode:
    - stock up on groceries and bottled water before going to these locations. Groceries can be very expensive here, and at some places the water is not the tastiest in our opinion
    - if you have a toddler who can't swim or a child who isn't independent yet, Mataranka has many more ledges for children to stand/play.paddle. Bitter Springs is more naturally beautiful, but with not as many setting down spots for toddlers.
    - Bitter Springs has jagged rocks on the ground, and branches/debris etc. Be careful! I am a confident swimmer, and still bashed my feet into rocks multiple times treading water
    - Ubirr is a great hike, but it's rated as an easy hike. I think it should be moderate. Some parts are difficult, but they are short lived. It's well worth it! I rolled my ankle 100m from the carpark on a relatively flat and safe area, so just be safe (I was mucking around with my toddler) and take provisions (I had no ice or pain killers and had to wait the 40 min drive back to Jabiru to get any relief). Let me reiterate, I would still do this hike again, it was that good! Even with an injury at the end haha
