I’m excited to tell you that I was at Anna Maria Island just over Christmas! My sister lives in St. Petersburg and we all headed down to Anna Maria Island just for the day, but happen to be right at the beach that you guys visited about 20 minutes in. In fact my sister and her partner actually got to stay at the house that you can see at the timestamp 20:58 for a long weekend. They did a Verbo or Airbnb thing there, so that was pretty exciting to see it on your vlog! Happy travels!

OMG you have sold it to me we are definitely doing a trip to Anna Marie Island on next trip. Might stay at least one night or maybe 2 depending on how much a condo rental costs. We went to Siesta Key last time and loved the beach there.
Definitely the beaches at the north of the island were nicer.
The beach by the big carpark where we watched the sunset didn’t feel so nice. Loud with bars, weed being smoked and mum said the loos had some strange people in. We didn’t really like the vibe there.
Loved this video. We are hoping to do a couple of nights there at end of our next trip in 2024. Just trying to decide when to go!

You def have good luck with the cleanliness of rest stop bathrooms. The ones I’ve been to are like those you describe in the UK. In all fairness, the rest stops themselves have all been set up in nice areas, it’s just the toilets that were nasty. I don’t stop at them anymore.
Glad to see the island doesn’t seem to have any damage from Hurricane Ian. You should try Key West, if you’ve never been there.
It’s also nice to see people like you who respect their surroundings. A British vlogging family were recently in FL. They did a nature walk by their resort, and were very disruptive to the wildlife and natural surroundings. They made fun of the warning signs about the wildlife; they weren’t drunk either. At one point, the mother walked right into the shallow part of the lake where alligators hide and wait for prey. Since her shoes were muddy, she then washed her shoes and feet at the hotel’s fountain that greets you at the entrance. And they were staying at an expensive golf resort.
We’ve been so lucky with the rest stops then.
Its funny that you mention the ‘respect’ thing as from our experience there seems to be a lot more of that in the US.
Things like the behaviour from that family you mention.
I don’t understand people!!
And yes, Key West is on our bucket list 😊
These wildlife danger signs are posted for a reason - your safety! That same family has a 19 yo daughter. Since she can’t legally drink in the US, they allowed her to use a fake ID to buy alcohol. Restaurants can get into serious trouble for this. Sadly, people like them come from everywhere, we have our share in the US, and are selfish.
The coast of Georgia is wonderful as well to visit. I’m still impressed with your husband driving the PCH while in CA. I can’t even be a passenger for that journey. The vids themselves frighten me.
