Edexcel music exam done today and this is one of the greatest set works. Probably the only time I've properly smiled in an exam. Hope it went well for anyone that has just done it too!
My mother passed Monday morning. When I pulled out her CD case, I found this album, put it in.. And the first lyrics seemed to speak from her. I introduced her to Afrocelt some years ago and she loved it and wanted more. As an African American woman with Gaelic heritage (was into Scottish country dancing and renfaire at one time), this track and group somehow express so much of the essence of the moment. Music = Love = Healing
SO many years ago... camping out up in New Paltz... complete ridiculousness and tomfoolery going on... picture a HUGE bonfire, about 20 people present... this song comes on, and 3 or 4 of us start dancing and prancing around the fire...then 2 more... the EVERYONE gets in on it... it was a BEAUTIFUL moment in time when all of us weirdos just let it ALL go and enjoyed the air, the freedom of nature, the digging rhythms and fanTASTIC music and just let it MOVE us ALL... ...and then we went daredevil 4 wheeling, hanging onto the *outside of a 4 Runner, and OTHER things happened. But it was ALL lovely, and THIS song started it ALL. I love remembering shit. I love MUSIC!!
The mix of cultures in music is great. Sinead O' Connors voice adds an extra but the African is still evident and I just love their combination. We need more of a colaboration of cultures in music. Afro Celts are a great example to be followed.
I listened to this song over and over in the early 2000s. Not sure when it came out, but I loved it. My friends thought I was weird and I didn’t care. . Loved every thing about it.
No my friend your slang is all wrong, you gotta use "ain't" for: am not, is not or occasionally will not. You do not, however, use it as a means of saying do not that's just "don't". Now you may be wondering why on earth I would go through all of this trouble just to correct you in your slang. Are you? Well if you are, then the reason, Is because I am bored, I also DON'T even know what to write down for this one.
neuroticgurl02 all good now, that was only our first set work piece so i was super confused. thank u thooo. can i ask how you found the exam? i’m dreading it
Elliot Carpenter it was honestly fine, i say that knowing that exams are nerve racking no matter how fine they go in the end. this piece was actually on it n it was against that lit indian song i forgot what its called, the one jay z remixed. i got a 7
@WillEdmonson; your story sent a chill up my spine, and brought tears to my eyes. It is a beautiful notion that love transcends everything: race, colour, geographical boundaries, nationality, and all of the other tools of segregation. May your mam rest peacefully, and may her soul live on in this great music for you.
in my exam, the uliean pipe solo played and it asked me what instrument played. I said the Uliean pipe Then i asked someone else what they put and he said hurdy gurdy life is good, liking the uliean pipe solo is good

I have it on my Memorial soundtrack. My girls KNOW how important this song is to me, especially with me being a Paranormal Investigator.
