    A note on the spline having the pin instead of just not machining the slot, they more than likely hobbed that not done one at a time as you are doing it so it would take them more time to not machine that one slot

      Good point, I told the customer it was likely cut with a hobby but didn't connect that to the pin, thanks for the input 🙂

    What grade of metal did you use on that new shaft?

      I made that out of 4140, there are better steels possibly but they weren't readily available.
