- One passenger was killed and 30 others were hurt after a Singapore Airlines flight from London hit severe turbulence on Tuesday. The airline said in a statement, "Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased." Captain Shem Malmquist, Boeing 777 captain, aviation safety investigator and an instructor at the Florida Institute of Technology weighs in.
Boeing airplanes have been experiencing similar issues over the past few months, another Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane (Flight LA800) also plummeted several thousand feet abruptly and had to make an emergency landing in March.

How do you save a plane that fell 1.8km in few seconds? This pilot is a legend
Clickbait title. You could have just said turbulence.
Agree. That’s so juvenile. Clickbait. 😮
OR ATLEAST NOT PUT AN IMAGE OF AN BOEING 747. AND COMBINING IT WITH THE WORD "ANOTHER".
THAT IS WHAT MADE ME CLICK ON THIS CLIP😡
CHEAP! CLICKBAIT🤮.
But ey, they already got my click. Also last one. Cause I will NEVER! click on any video of this channel no mather what the title or image.
It is, but it works. That's why they do it.
@@annjamieson6544 😂 sadly. I almost did not click. I fell in that trap. But next time I will wait and see if more channels are showing similar picture and story before I give them a click.
I DON'T LIKE TO BE FOOLED AROUND😡
The Singapore Airlines fleet are amongst the number well maintained aircrafts in the world. They hire the best pilots and take pride in ensuring passenger safety. The area affecting the flight path is in the province of Suphanburi. There are cross-winds at lower altitudes and low pressure zones creates a vacuum air pocket which causes the aircraft to dip in its altitude. The pilots handled the flight very effectively and safely. The decision to detour to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi (Pronounced Soo-var-na-phoom) is an excellent first class airport with emergency support and facilities. The airport experiences more than 60-80 million passengers a year.
Sadly a person died but related to the turbulence. However severe injuries experienced by more than 30 plus passengers. It is very important to note that Thailand's emergency services teams showed great focus were well equipped to provide emergency services. This is not likely a Boeing aircraft problem.
The poor poor people they must have all been so frightened ❤
Thanks for the pilots Who saved Passengers
Somehow, I don't think we can blame Boeing for turbulence
So true
Faux “News” can…
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just hold that thought.
I mean we can't just forget all the other incidents tho
This had ZERO to do with Boeing or the aircraft.
Does turbulence have anything to do with who made the plane? Or is this just a backhanded way of blaming Boeing for the injured due to weather?
Boe blaming turbulence
@@EveLynneRose. I have been thrown completely across my back galley while working a flight. I’ve also had carts turn over in the galley due to turbulence. I’ve been bounced into passengers’ laps. It happens. And it can be clear air turbulence, unpredictable. It’s not the aircraft type. When you fly, keep your seatbelt fastened. And don’t get up and walk around after the crew has said to stay seated. I retired after that galley incident….my shoulder and neck muscles were torn…and the pilot did NOT notify us of known weather….she was a quota hire.😡
If weather is not good, that does not mean that plane should not land safely but due to aeronautical fault, it crashed land. So Boeing needs to be blamed, the incident should not be attached to turbulence.
is it possible that the plane did not properly respond to the turbulence?
Reports said the dead pax died from a heart attack.
Thumbnail image is of a 747, not a 777. Is it illegal for anyone in the media to know anything about commercial aircraft? SHM. And this could have happened just as easily to an Airbus aircraft.
SHM?
@@weaverjoshuab Shaking Head Madly! What up Weaver? Keep scrolling next time!
They need to emphasize the importance of seatbelts!!! Such hypocrites. Fox loves the drama
Turbulence that killed someone
Apparently so. They are suggesting that Boeing's are more prone to turbulence? How does that work?
People never learn to keep their seat belt fastened. At all times.
That might be because when the seatbelt light goes off, an announcement is made: " The Captain has turned off the seatbelt light, it is now safe to move around the cabin." That isn't saying "keep your seatbelts fastened at all times." ✈️
unless u need to use the rest room!
@@thisisme3238True but anyone with a brain in their skull knows the aircraft is moving and anything can and will happen.
@@dcrose001 thanks for what we already know
@@dcrose001should not happen. They are blaming the pilot, again.
It's like hitting a brick wall in the air
That must always be a rather scary experience to passengers. They never know immediately if that is related to a catastrophe or not.
Turbulence is Not the Aircraft fault it Usually Weather or the Pilot Ran into Turbulence I was injured in the same circumstances
Hi 👋! Your comment are always worth reading..I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much!.....So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.......
Why so many Boeings having enormous problems in a certain amount of time....never heard so many similar to the bridges going down. Planes by now are made to handle turbulence...so that leaves...what is the cause of all these problems with a certain aircraft??
Clik bait anytime its a Boeing plane they use this to draw people i hate the media 😡
Just breathe
Why you acting like Boeing ain’t a garbage company lmaoo
@@catalan500_8because perhaps this goes to show how well made boeing planes really are
The 747 and the 777 are both very robust and reliable aircraft. Millions of flight hours with very few incidents. The 737 Max family of Boeings, is where the problems crop up.
@@PhillipH-sanexactly atleast he doesn't need an oxygene mask like on an airplane😂
this girl has to have to most annoying voices in the history of news.
like all these nose-speaking American female news anchors
I am no fan of Boeing but what does the manufacturer have to do with a plane experiencing turbulence and bad weather?
It's because it's Boeing the real cause doesn't matter, it's Boeings fault automatically.
boeing has lost a lot of credibility, so unfortunately they have earned a lot of the negative preconceived notions when an incident like this occurs
@@DL-iy3lftrue
if anything we should be praising boeing for engineering an aircraft that can withstand this much turbulence without just falling out of the sky
@@wg.anthony you have a good point.
Technology just does not have enough answers to Mother Nature.
CHANGE YOUR TITLE!!
Keeping your seat belt fastened throughout a flight, is your best protection.
Title is misleading. It makes you believe Boeing is responsible for this incident. Wth!
Do not forget to belt yourself when you're flying.
So true and real
There is turbulence where it does not help much
@@What-28-ever-3 True
@@What-28-ever-3 of course seatbelts help, if you didn't have one on your head will smack into the ceiling at anytime in this kind of turbulence
I’m a huge Airbus fan! I get Boeing quality has diminished as of recent years, but this happened in a triple 777 which it has an amazing flying record and was build back when Boeing care more about quality than selling. That 777 seven handle that turbulence as it was supposed to, like beast. unfortunate for that one passenger.
So - Boeing controls air turbulence according to your teaser?!?
"Another Boeing plane..." Wow. What a title!
“Another Boeing “? What does turbulence have to do with Boeing?!
The first 4 words of this title are not needed. It is text book clickbait!
Not the Boeing aircraft fault - inappropriate headline.
TREBULANCE ! Did he realy say that!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don't wait for real information on what happened. Just make suppositions to your hearts content. Reality? I saw 1 emergency vehicle in this video, twice, and then many repeats of the same footage.
More media prejudice aimed at Boeing.
They killed a whistle blower.
@@EveLynneRoseyou and we don't know that so we cannot say anything like that including you
Dont blame Boeing for the 777's turbulence. It's normal for planes to encounter turbulence unfortunately this one killed one person, but it's not a reason to blame Boeing. All planes encounter turbulence.
if anything this show cases Boeings ability to handle turbulence and just how strong the wings.
Big difference between “got my attention” and the absolute destruction and death in that cabin.
It's got nothing to do with Boeing you are making a false defamatory imputation.
This new incident is due to weather. Flight LA800 incident last March is due to a different reason.
Sensationalist FOX again. It could have been an Airbus as turbulence does not discriminate
Yes because someone dies on a plane from turbulence all of the time.
I donr remov Belt , from moment i get in airplane, to the moment, he opens the door. I don't know does this help,in this situation, because airplane was upside down 1 minute, and losing high, up and down, but belts don't feel enough for this situation for me. I feel so sorry for one passed away, and people that are hurt. Praying for all of them
Captain unless you are briefed on this particular incident be quiet. Your particular training and knowledge should tell you to avoid interviews like this.
He knows a lot more about what happened than you do.
There are 10 thousand Boeing planes in service almost half the planes in the air, so you are going to get incidents.
Show the videos inside the plane during "severe turbulence" ,an understatement.
One was not killed. He died from a heart attack. Stop your lying
Blaming Boeing for turbulence?? 🙄
Pilots should be able to comprehend bad weather on the radar which produces turbulence.
@@RoseSharon7777not always
@@RoseSharon7777 this is clear air turbulence, also known as CAT, which is almost invisible to onboard radar in modern day aircrafts
@@wg.anthony There were storms clouds in the area. Blancoliro did a good overview of it today on his channel.
It’s your own damn fault if you choose not to keep your seatbelt fastened while seated.
Did the plane pitch as a whole - or did it do so about its wings? And wouldn't the latter occurrence have caused passengers near them to be flung around less than those by the tail or nose? Analysis of damage wrought or injuries sustained might be useful
The fact it was a Boeing is immaterial. Typical fox clickbait . Try to find a reporter that knows even a tiny bit about aviation. When you encounter rough air, it’s standard procedure to request another flight level to find smoother air.
Pilots also rely on pireps (pilot reports) to be alerted to rough air.
I don’t know if the expert ever got around to that stuff. He was boring me trying exposing weather radar. He doesn’t even seem to be aware of air carrier procedures.
The dumb bunny reporter keeps saying plummeted in a matter of minutes. That’s just a normal altitude change.
People should have been wearing their seatbelts.
Keep seat belts fastened.
I'm glad that the plane is in control after the plummet. Wow, it must've been very frightening.
Thank god alwys save the passenger condolence to one people died 😢
The media doesn't know anything. The plane flew into a thunderstorm that was clearly depicted on a radar. Senior captain of the flight was on break and less experienced.Pilots were at the controls.
For people who have no clue about what's going on with Boeing. There was another similar issue not long ago.
New generation of journalists, arent...
So, when a flight experiences turbulence and it is a Boeing airplane, you place “Boeing” in the tag line. When it is an Airbus or Embraer, you burry the brand in the article? Biased journalism ever?
F you Fox for the title! Since when does Boeing control turbulence?!?
Which part of "keep your seatbelt fastened" when you are in your seat was unclear.
If it has safety issues, turbulence can make things worse
"Too big to fail"
Boeing CEO - Hold my beer.
Incredible!!! This man is basically saying that no pilot other than him could of delt with this!
Really? Using a clickbait title? This incident has nothing to do with Boeing.
So, are these people telling me I MIGHT,POSSIBLY? Have A heart attack in a WALMART parking LOT? rip bro
This has nothing to do with the plane being a Boeing. The Boeing issue is for recent models. Primarily the 737 Max, which does not have the range to make that trip. This was an air pocket that would have affected any plane.
Somehow that hotspot over andaman ocean nearby phuket island is a common turbulence area especially for bigger aircraft. Experience pilots flying over this route knows this well and will remind everybody on board to fasten their seat belts.
Why show a picture of a 747 when it was a 777 which only has two engines, probably would have been a better result with a jumbo jet fitted with four engines. These twin engined jet’s should be banned from long haul journeys, there’s not enough margin for engine failure, yes they can fly one one engine but they can’t fly on no engines should the other engine fail.
Hi, aviation journalist here.
Turbulence can affect any type of aircraft, it is not just Boeing.
If it turns out that there was a mechanical failure that may have been present on board the aircraft, contributing to the worsening of the situation, it is most likely that it is the fault of SIA, as the aircraft is 16.3 years old, meaning that ever since it left the Boeing production facility, SIA was in control of its maintenance.
Airlines are also allowed to substitute equipment in from other companies they deem sensible, and may opt to not use the equipment given to them by the manufacturer.
So in conclusion- Boeing did not sell them a defective plane. Turbulence is random, it can affect any aircraft. This is not a quality control issue.
Boeing brand does play a role in this situation. Different brands do better jobs under adverse conditions. It’s no difference from a defective vehicle performing poorly during unfavorable conditions whereas other branded vehicles which are better engineered are more robust and provide better performance under the same conditions. With Boeing’s track record, it very plausible that the issue lies with the brand not the weather. Vehicles are expected to be engineered well enough to handle a variety of situations to be deemed safe for travel.
"another Boeing" ?
What's the problem with the brand?
It's like a Ford car has an accident because of a broken road surface, and news blame Ford for it.
It was a 777 - 300 not a 747 which you showed …..get it right FFS ….! 😂
When there's turbulence follow the sign and buckle belt
So typical of FOX Non-news to label this clip as a “Boeing” incident. This was a “weather incident” and would have happened regardless of the aircraft manufacturer. If anything is to blame it is inadequate training.
New motto,
"if it's Boeing, I'm not going."

Hmm aliens trying to teach the aircraft to flap
The make of the aircraft is irrelevant.
This has nothing to do with Boeing, an Airbus or any other type of aircraft of similar size would behave the same.
Is turbulence getting worse? Seems like it.
The world must ban all boeing aircrafts
This is a ridiculous title… aircraft make and model have nothing to do with turbulence.

There is something really seriously wrong with these US made planes.
The software perhaps.

This being a Boeing plane as nothing to do with the turbulence, this would would of happened to any make of aircraft
was it 'turbulence'? or a software outage
Is this due to plane malfunction or the turbulence
Well the last flight I had on Singapore airlines we sat in turbulence for over a hour and I thought we were dead maybe it’s the planes Boeings
I won't ever be flying and the passengers who still do will be thankful for that.
What is going on with these Boeing planes??? And I don't believe that man committed suicide.

Human mistake. Both pilots failed to leep ignored waether radar warning.
