The use of macros has caused the trade website to go down due to the overwhelming number of people using them. The servers couldn't handle the pressure created by these macros.
Don't like that devs allow this unless they implement it themself in the game, this is one of the reasons I didn't enjoy playing poe 1 anymore, to many external tools that optimize the game to much imo

There is an auction house starting at act 4. You can sell/buy most resources in it, just not gear
GGG firmly believes that there needs to be a certain amount of friction to trade so it's not overly easy.
