One thing I’ve noticed, a lot of the time I claim town protect. You can usually get an extra day if you’re actively ready to defend your claim. “Why weren’t you on X?” My usual go to is finding a message I can convince town is sus or if I can’t I can claim rb’d. Naturally that’s not a fail safe but I’ve gotten off a couple times with that. The whole rb’d thing makes it a lot easier when you have support from your faction but it has to be the right timing or you’re both donesies.

Also when fake claiming make sure to put effort in your will because bad formatting will get you killed/hanged
Claiming TP also bars you from attacking important people less you out yourself
