Hey what up Toni, i have oi as well. I have type 4. Have you ever tried that bone strengthener called bisphosphonates. Im 35 years of age now and i tried that medication when it was in its trial phase when i was a teenager. Since i have type 4, i didn't benefit from it as much as other people have. It has ruined my teeth and as you know just having OI can effect teeth in a huge way depending on what type someone has. In the next couple months, i have to have 23 teeth taken out because they are all chipped, mostly my top teeth though. They will only pull a couple at a time because when they pull them there is a risk of it breaking my jaw. They are going to put me to sleep though while they pull the teeth so it will be less traumatic and hopefully i dont wake up with my jaw in a bunch of pain. After they extract the teeth i need taken out, im going to get dentures. Im glad i came across your story, its not everyday you hear of someone with OI that has improved there life so much in such a good way. We (people with OI) are all fighters, We are those rare 1%. To anyone else reading this that may have OI just keep doing your best, its all we can do n we do that well. Hope your doing well though, take care Toni.

Hey Shawn!!! Thank you so much for the comment and sharing your story. I did try one bisphosphonate when I was in my early 20's, but I immediately had a side-effect (pain in my jaw) so my doctor stopped it immediately. I haven't (and won't) take any of those again. I'd rather find natural ways to get and stay stronger overall. I have had issues with my teeth as well. I've had 2 pulled. I don't think it was really from O.I. as much as me not taking care of them. I've had multiple root canals and I have crowns. But I do watch my teeth closely as I'm aging. I'm 51 now! I'm so happy to connect. Be sure to visit my website and contact me if you have any questions or just for the heck of it! We are fighters! I always like to say we're Breaking Barriers, Not Bones! Let's go!!! www.tonyjacobsen.com
