Exaclty, people call her the toughest trainer due to her garchomp but that spiritomb and ESPECIALLY that miltoic were what made it tough for me. Garchomp was able to get one hit in because, you know, ice beam is a thing. But a tanky ass Milotic with healing capabilities? That's a threat right here! Also, Cynthia is so tough because her team is so diverse.. She covers so much ground - She'd be an even bigger threat with great AI and movesets to compliment her team but that'd be too dangerous for (especially newer) players lol
Funny thing - everyone call Cynthia tough, but I defeated her with only lv. 57 Houndoom (w/ Heat Rock) and lv. 58 Garchomp (w/ Leftovers) And man - that looked our match: - *Houndoom vs Spiritomb; Houndoom won using Sunny Day and three Flamethrowers* - *Houndoom vs Milotic; Houndoom won using two Solar Beams* - *Houndoom vs Garchomp; Garchomp won using Earthquake* - *Garchomp (Mine) vs Garchomp (C); Garchomp (Mine) won using Dragon Rush **_(Critical)_* - *Garchomp vs Lucario; Garchomp won using Earthquake* - *Garchomp vs Togekiss; Garchomp won using two Dragon Rushes* - *Garchomp VS Roserade; Garchomp won using Dragon Rush* Result: - I won by using only two Pokemon and losing one (ps: that was my 3rd attempt - on the previous I was heavily underleveled (50 - 52 lv on the first one and 51 - 54 on the second)
To beat Milotic, it is compulsory to have an electric type like Luxray because Milotic will outspeed your grass Pokemon and will spam Ice Beam over and over again.

Now i dont want to be "that" guy, but it took just one pokemon to beat diantha, and it was underleveled, not even mega evolved. i would say theme wise, it fits your description, but battle wise, i won before it got even good.

well yes thank goodness to the fix, however mine was off. I do remember using Lucario against her, because it was under leveled. i had heard she was easy, but she let me down immensly. (Lucario was level 51 btw.)

if i may be comepletely honest, i assumed i used lucario because it's my favorite pokemon, most likely i used my whole team to beat her. I reset my game so I sadly dont remember. I do remember doing it in one go, and not healing.
Rhys Graves That’s how you become a very challenging Champion to beat is if you have so much Full Restores you spam it when your Pokémon team is close to being hit. What would make the battle even harder is if you had your strongest (if it can’t mega evolve) hold a focus sash so that way a very over leveled Pokémon can’t one shot it.

When Sun and Moon were released my reaction was like "fucking hell they didn't ... Sun and Moon?! What's next, Knife and Fork for fucks sake. The game's probably going to be trash, I'm not appealed" and then it came out and I bought it. Damn have I had fun with Sun, such a great game.
***** I know, I said I wasn't talking about his rematch team, which while having a little more diversity, all 6 pokemon have quad weaknesses to something, his regular team had 3 of the same pokemon along with 3 other extremely over used pokemon, and as for his rematch team having a lot of pseudo legendaries, I'm gonna say thats most likely because in gen 4, there were only 12 fully evolved dragons and half of them were legendaries, one was Clair's signature pokemon(for her gym battle at least), 3 pseudos, Altaria, and Flygon, plus it wasn't till gen 7 that Flygon got A LOT more usable, so Garchomp was kinda necessary. So the pseudos were inevitable, and Gyarados and Charizard were there to piss people off because they weren't dragon types.

Opinion Incoming: Why didnt they make the champion for X/Y someone that idk... mattered to the story at all??? Like we literally met Diantha for 45 seconds in a random cafe in Lumiose, and then never again, and then shes the champion. It wouldve made more sense to make literally anyone the champion besides her like Trevor couldve been cool, he studied pokemon super hard all game and got no recognition or end game, hell i wouldve settled for Tierno with a ludicolo for a mirror b match number 2 but nope. Diantha.
You Have Found Ebony you meet lance at lake of rage and help him for a solid 30 minutes in the game, you see his Pokémon, see his levels, see how much of a threat he is. I’d say his presence was much more significant than dianthas
Well I’d agree but since when does a champion lead with his ace, I’d say realistically hissnorlax is only because he typically brings the thing out last, I see lyncanrock. He can just about end you if he gets stealth rock off, and if his sturdy enacts then you are in real trouble. That is basically game set and match unless the Pokémon you have out is super effective to lycanrock. ( playing devils advocate be fair)
yes people, we all know that, technically Kukui wasn't the champion, but since he is the last battle before you take the title, and since he seems to be the strongest in the region, can't we just pretend he is? For the sake of having some comment variety
I say he a temp champ unless he did fought and beaten the elite four testing everything out. Though they could have had an actual rival(the one who picks the stronger against pokemon) who beat you to the chair like Blue.
He is, and he states it himself, the last challenge before you can become champion. So.. He takes the place of a champion until you come because there isn’t one yet. It’s as simple as that. He is a temporary champion.
Can we all just appreciate how under-appreciated Alder's theme is? It's honestly one of the better champion themes. I think it's probably a mix of it only being heard in the E4 rematch (which most people probably didn't bother with) and that the only other place it played was at the end of the black tower/white forest, meaning most people didn't hear it.)
Yeah, someone once called it anticlimactic. I gave them a link to a video playing every theme. Yeah, alders theme isnt the anticlimactic one, diantha's is for being wasted on a pushover like her.
I can totally understand people finding Alder's theme dull, since it's a steady track that doesn't really have much variation to its sound structure-wise. But it has a neat polyrhythm going on between the bass (6/8) and the rest of the track (4/4), so I like it a lot! :'D

Idk how anyone can NOT have Alola Champion theme as number 1, and that's coming from a long time pokemon veteran that's played all the games.... I mean I can understand the first two because those are the Originals but as a Musician, Theoretically, Alola takes the cake!!!! Iris is just too kidish and not fit for a champion theme. It's like fighting a 5 year old or something. Cynthia has the most powerful theme followed by Gary/blue
When you think about it +Allagan Demon, Iris reminds us that there are children as Champions like Red and Blue, and she reminds us of how it's like being a Champion during that age thus giving us a more fresh taste. Steven, Cynthia, Lance, nor Wallace have taught us the meaning of what a champion is indirectly as much as Iris. They've only shown their brutal teams. This is just my opinion anyway.
AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT LIKES ALDER’S THEME!? I mean- sure. You can argue that it’s not fit for a champion theme.. But I absolutely love it and think it PERFECTLY fits Alder’s character. And the tone of the battle, too.
Please keep doing these. It has taken me awhile to find someone who uploads all of the themes together that are only the most recent remastered version of those themes.
Maybe I'm just nostalgic since my first Pokemon game was sapphire, but I will forever hold that Gen 3's champion music is the best. I just think it is perfect and that nothing could ever touch it. The other music ranges from "meh" to "great" for me, but nothing even comes close.
I wish I could argue but I really can't, Steven's theme is fucking beautiful, even though I despise him as a character because of that god damn Metagross.
It's probably nostalgia, yeah. I'd say the top 3 for me are: 1. Gen 2: Lance/Red 2. Gen 3: Steven 3. Gen 7: Kukui Battle Cynthia's theme comes close to top 3 for me though.
I just love the fact that in these music compilations i don't have to sit through every single rendition of each theme, and in many cases feature just the remake versions as those are arguably the defitive versions. Makes this channel the definitive one for pokemon music compilations.

I'm one of the initial players who started the pocket monsters journey in Red Blue Green by Game Freak since 90's and Gameboy still black and white haha. Kept on till Gen 2 only so Lance is my fav one who is the dragon commander. I remember all his Pokemon hyper beam me too much lol Kairyu!
Cynthia was the first and only champion where I *truly* experienced what the word *struggle* means. It means trying to defeat the Elite Four and then getting roflstomped by a super well balanced team full of powerful Pokémon with good coverage and attack damage. No seriously, Cynthia‘s team is ... legit good
I would disagree with you, but seeing as they had to seriously pull out a member of her team, and put a significantly less powerful Pokemon in it's place between D/P and Platinum, I have to agree with you. Simply because they needed to give players an actual fighting chance.
actually i was doing a starter only run in platinum and the only thing that i had trouble beating was her garchomp... ive heard that platinum is easier tho
Shue Feng Tan whoever told you that is a liar, her weak gastrodon was replaced by a togekiss, who, may I add, is considered by some to be stronger than her garchomp
I think half my team was weak against ground and I had no fighting moves at all. I could have added one in but then Incineroar is weak against ground and then there replacing my Gastrodon with Poliwrath or I could have taken out A. Raichu for it. That was one wall I was surprised on and thought I would lose. I had to revive, full heal couple times in battle because of paralyze on half my pokemon and them being dead and dead again. Though once his final pokemon showed up, I knew it was done.

I’m just glad that I’m Pokémon Sun/Moon you can raise your friendliness towards your Pokémon and they’ll fight better. You don’t know HOW MANY TIMES I needed my Decidueye to hang on and he did! I’m also glad that Champions and other trainers don’t really have this option because OH BOY imagine fighting the toughest Pokémon in their party, only to have it hang on with 1 hp and KO your Pokémon and/or have a full restore on it.
These are my personal favoites: 1. Blue (probably my favorite Pokemon theme ever, and seven wonderful gens haven't changed this) 2. Kukui/Challengers 3. Lance/Red 4. Cynthia 5. Adler 6. Steven/Wallace 7. Iris 8. Diantha I liked all of these, but absolutely loved the top 4.

So fun story when battling professor kukui I started the match with lower levelled pokemon, to make matters worse I had three pokemon on the verge of death and ran out of healing items, the first time I nearly snagged a victory but then he reheated his snorlax so I had to take him down further. Then he eliminated my gyarados so I had to switch to my last Pokemon which was at 18 health left, the only problem? He had got off stealth rock which meant my decidueye fainted when he entered the arena. The kicker the flipping snorlax was at a sliver of health. I needed one hit to win.
Actually, it's entirely possible, and extremely likely. The regional professor studies Pokemon, so it's more likely than just some random trainer only having to face the Elite Four in order to become the regional champion.
Think about it this way: Who is the only character in the game who would know more about Pokemon and battling than the regional champion? The regional professor, clearly. Blue had to defeat his grandfather in battle to become the champion of Kanto. When you defeat him the first time, he says he's only been the champion for a few minutes before you defeated him. However, there's evidence to support the fact that someone else was in the position as Kanto champion before Blue. I can prove that it was Prof. Oak.
First piece of evidence is how Agatha speaks of Professor Oak's strength as a Pokemon trainer, and talks about it as though he kept his role as Kanto champion for many years. She also doesn't talk too heavily about it in past-tense, meaning that he was defeated very recently. In fact, he wasn't defeated until right after you defeat Lorelei, given you did so quickly. Lance also mentions that Blue is the first official champion of Kanto, meaning that Blue had to defeat a stand-in champion to get the title of the champion of Kanto.
It's quite possible that the Pokemon Professors are among the strongest, if not the strongest, trainers in their regions. When a league is started, the Professor may become the automatic "champion", though they hold that title merely honorarily. Kanto's PL may have been official for a good while, but nobody was strong enough to go five rounds at Indigo until your Rival came along, and then the player right after him.
The champions are always using Full Restore in the more dramatic part of the song, and your face is like a "oh, gosh that's a tear pouring down from my eye?" 😫😓
Everytime i play a new Generation or Pokémon Game in generall, i look forward to the champ battle and the theme song that comes with it. Like seriously these are masterpieces. Every theme has something special on its own. This really wants me to become a music composer just to write something like this as well ❤️
Everyone struggles with Cynthia..... this makes me wonder... do people not know Pokémon? Cynthia’s mortal weakness, the ice type, is plentiful in sinnoh, I can think of a lot of strong ice types from gen 4

I used thunderbolt 10 times on that thing and got a crit 4 times probably

What would make the battle even harder is if you had your strongest (if it can’t mega evolve) hold a focus sash so that way a very over leveled Pokémon can’t one shot it.

***** I know, I said I wasn't talking about his rematch team, which while having a little more diversity, all 6 pokemon have quad weaknesses to something, his regular team had 3 of the same pokemon along with 3 other extremely over used pokemon, and as for his rematch team having a lot of pseudo legendaries, I'm gonna say thats most likely because in gen 4, there were only 12 fully evolved dragons and half of them were legendaries, one was Clair's signature pokemon(for her gym battle at least), 3 pseudos, Altaria, and Flygon, plus it wasn't till gen 7 that Flygon got A LOT more usable, so Garchomp was kinda necessary. So the pseudos were inevitable, and Gyarados and Charizard were there to piss people off because they weren't dragon types.

He can just about end you if he gets stealth rock off, and if his sturdy enacts then you are in real trouble. That is basically game set and match unless the Pokémon you have out is super effective to lycanrock. ( playing devils advocate be fair)

It's honestly one of the better champion themes. I think it's probably a mix of it only being heard in the E4 rematch (which most people probably didn't bother with) and that the only other place it played was at the end of the black tower/white forest, meaning most people didn't hear it.)

I can totally understand people finding Alder's theme dull, since it's a steady track that doesn't really have much variation to its sound structure-wise. But it has a neat polyrhythm going on between the bass (6/8) and the rest of the track (4/4), so I like it a lot! :'D

Cynthia was the first and only champion where I *truly* experienced what the word *struggle* means.
It means trying to defeat the Elite Four and then getting roflstomped by a super well balanced team full of powerful Pokémon with good coverage and attack damage.

I think half my team was weak against ground and I had no fighting moves at all. I could have added one in but then Incineroar is weak against ground and then there replacing my Gastrodon with Poliwrath or I could have taken out A. Raichu for it. That was one wall I was surprised on and thought I would lose. I had to revive, full heal couple times in battle because of paralyze on half my pokemon and them being dead and dead again. Though once his final pokemon showed up, I knew it was done.
I loved you really defend your title in Alola and the beginning of the song gave me a "f*ck yeah!" nostalgia trip!

I’m just glad that I’m Pokémon Sun/Moon you can raise your friendliness towards your Pokémon and they’ll fight better. You don’t know HOW MANY TIMES I needed my Decidueye to hang on and he did! I’m also glad that Champions and other trainers don’t really have this option because OH BOY imagine fighting the toughest Pokémon in their party, only to have it hang on with 1 hp and KO your Pokémon and/or have a full restore on it.

97 percent is just everyone saying how hard or how bomb af Cynthia and her theme is.
So fun story when battling professor kukui I started the match with lower levelled pokemon, to make matters worse I had three pokemon on the verge of death and ran out of healing items, the first time I nearly snagged a victory but then he reheated his snorlax so I had to take him down further. Then he eliminated my gyarados so I had to switch to my last Pokemon which was at 18 health left, the only problem? He had got off stealth rock which meant my decidueye fainted when he entered the arena. The kicker the flipping snorlax was at a sliver of health. I needed one hit to win.

It's not. If it were, there would be no champion in Kanto due to the fact that *_big dick Professor Oak_* is the one between you and the title.
Actually, it's entirely possible, and extremely likely. The regional professor studies Pokemon, so it's more likely than just some random trainer only having to face the Elite Four in order to become the regional champion.
Think about it this way: Who is the only character in the game who would know more about Pokemon and battling than the regional champion? The regional professor, clearly. Blue had to defeat his grandfather in battle to become the champion of Kanto. When you defeat him the first time, he says he's only been the champion for a few minutes before you defeated him. However, there's evidence to support the fact that someone else was in the position as Kanto champion before Blue. I can prove that it was Prof. Oak.
First piece of evidence is how Agatha speaks of Professor Oak's strength as a Pokemon trainer, and talks about it as though he kept his role as Kanto champion for many years. She also doesn't talk too heavily about it in past-tense, meaning that he was defeated very recently. In fact, he wasn't defeated until right after you defeat Lorelei, given you did so quickly. Lance also mentions that Blue is the first official champion of Kanto, meaning that Blue had to defeat a stand-in champion to get the title of the champion of Kanto.
It's quite possible that the Pokemon Professors are among the strongest, if not the strongest, trainers in their regions. When a league is started, the Professor may become the automatic "champion", though they hold that title merely honorarily. Kanto's PL may have been official for a good while, but nobody was strong enough to go five rounds at Indigo until your Rival came along, and then the player right after him.
The champions are always using Full Restore in the more dramatic part of the song, and your face is like a "oh, gosh that's a tear pouring down from my eye?" 😫😓

Everytime i play a new Generation or Pokémon Game in generall, i look forward to the champ battle and the theme song that comes with it. Like seriously these are masterpieces. Every theme has something special on its own. This really wants me to become a music composer just to write something like this as well ❤️
Everyone struggles with Cynthia..... this makes me wonder... do people not know Pokémon? Cynthia’s mortal weakness, the ice type, is plentiful in sinnoh, I can think of a lot of strong ice types from gen 4
