We need this as a weekly series with all different levels of players, would love to see you do this with a Gold player, and then do an Onyx 1500, and an onyx 2000, definitely think this kinda content helps the whole halo scene 👍🏼

Would disagree on Gold, but would love to see platinum +. At gold and maybe even platinum you really just need to work on your aim tbh. No need for breakdown.
@@chefpollo6037 Something I’ve noticed is the difference in approach to the game between lower level players and higher level ones I have friends who can match me for aim, but they are D3, and I’m Onyx 1750. Aim can get you so far, but as players who are more involved (I’m imagining you have a similar experience to me) we often forget the small things that are second nature to us E.g. Don’t chase every guy you get one shot, basic understanding of where spawners will be, instinctively looking for where your team mates are, or even just not pushing an fight with a player disadvantage (it’s amazing how often I see players do this and wonder why they died) There are 100’s of little things like this that more experienced players “just know” but less experience players don’t even think about, and I think it can be great for top player like Lucid to try and go back to basics sometimes and show new players the ropes
Watching this gave me a "proof reading" vibe like with an essay, where the mistakes with spelling and grammar are seemingly much harder to catch when checking your own work. This is probably my biggest problem with checking back my games. I simply love your eagerness to learn every scrap of info from lucid, it really made me smile.
sean!! you coulda hit the sword with the combat evolved sticky at the beginning, and you woulda landed right on top that man in blue pipes!! obviously lucid has a better understanding of the right play on camo, but that’s just my opinion!
Extremely informative gameplay breakdown. Gaining an advantage off spawn no matter how small is the message I got out of this, but that’s what made Lucid as a player unique compared to other pros earlier on. He used the entire sandbox to his advantage.
To add to Lucid’s point he makes around the 4 minute mark… at the beginning of the game most people coming through that bottom tunnel to sword is probably gonna have repulsor cuz that’s where it spawns so to just jump out there is risky
Yeah depending on my spawn side I play for repulsor over thee sword and repulse either the players that jump down to the sword. Or if they are smart and try using plasma nade I repulse the sword back to pit.
That's why i always use plasma nades to retrieve the sword, it's by far safer. Btw in solo q you have to check the situation too cause if you spawn long hall at the beginning of the match enemies coming from elevator usually have the upper hand if you run like hell for plasmas
More of these videos please!! Lucid, thank you for playing this game as your job!! I can only imagine what’s it’s like to have to play when you dont feel like it. 8-10 hrs a day or more. Your knowledge has taught me more than any other player. Just know, your fans appreciate you more than words.
Absolutely love seeing this type of content. Most of the people out there offering advice on Infinite really don't know enough to give the best advice. So seeing it come from one of the best in the game, articulated so clearly and digestible, is so valuable. I would absolutely love to have you critique one of my games but even being able to watch you break down other people's footage is SO appreciated. Thank you so much Lucid 🙏
Man your a pro I look to all the time when I try to improve my gameplay. I always try to dissect everything you do in vids but never was sure if I understood and now I know I didn’t. I really appreciate you dropping this vid and helping to improve the halo community
awesome to hear how you are willing to accept responsibility for your losses. I had a game i went 56-20 and still lost I wanted to blame my team but I died way too much and had so many misplays in hindsight I know i didnt deserve to win. Also when I choose to play with lower level people I dont ever put pressure on them to carry or do well, I asked them to play with me so no need to be a dick to them.
If you went 56-20 against players of a similar skill level in an obj game it is perfectly reasonable to chalk up the loss to your teammates not holding up their end of the bargain. One of the things I'll never forget from a pro LoL player breaking down one of his viewer vods many years ago was him saying "one way to continue climbing in a ranked playlist if you are NOT the one carrying is to make yourself carryable." That applies to ANY team game. Say for instance you were playing oddball and going off, your teammates need to recognize that and grab the ball so you can focus on slaying out, or if they're having an off game and can't shoot straight they need to focus on calling people out or following you around and assisting you with ANY dmg they can deal. Every player has off games, even the most dominant players. Recognizing when you're having an off game and letting someone else be the star is one of the signs of a truly good player.
@@Eojx Yeah but you also cant control your teammates and so you're not really doing yourself any favours blaming them EVER even if it's true, it's better to look at a game from the lense of "ok that was a rough loss but I could definitely improve in 'X' area ill try that next time"
The problem is not that this player dropped from onyx to diamond. The problem is that the ranking system is so business being onyx in the first place. This is plat gameplay. He has no fundamentals. There are way too many bad players in onyx and they need to have 1% of the population at onyx and not 30 or 40% like it is now. Also this guy is a d rider
Thanks for the advice Lucid. Makes a lot of sense to be aware of what you’re actually doing. I’ll definitely put this mindset into my own gameplay. I also struggle with the beam rifle but I still grab it cause you miss every shot you don’t take.
Sean W is tough as nails. Handles critique with grace and humility and never makes excuses for himself even though he's got one that nobody would argue with, namely that he is playing with only one hand. And he's still way better than me...
I never get mad at players who don't do too well in a game. I'll get in games where there's a person just crying non-stop and he keeps saying "every team I get in is shit" but people fail to realize that the only constant in the game after game is the single player. That being said, a lot of people don't really talk much or play too well to the objectives so it's hard.
Yeah issue is when spawn delay isn’t working in your favor and nobody has a mic so there is no coordination on your team and you run in and half damage 2-3 players and your teammates are nowhere to be found so you’re just getting rekt
Honestly thanks for putting out videos like this, I definitely play better after watching a lot of pro player break downs. You're honestly in my T3 current content creators on OpTic and you ain't 2 or 3. Keep killing it Lucid !

Gold, just gold. I fly certain types of aircraft and it’s funny how the tactics Lucid talks about almost identically parallel what we use. Guys, pay attention to this. This is exceptional breakdown.
Good breakdown and some awesome points. I think a lot of people think their victory has to come through "montage plays" when often times, the simplest solution tends to be best. Back in the Halo 2 days, I feel like a lot of people relied too heavily on BxB, BxR and RRx in fights where, if they had just been more situationally aware and put themselves in a good position, they may not have needed it. Also, egos kill. This need to be the star player makes you rush and play out of position. If you just slow down a hair and take what they give you, it usually goes better. Map control, weapon control, spawn control and eventually objective control in that order. I'm glad high level guys are able to get this kind of stuff out into the world and at least Lucid doesn't sound like he's so high on himself that he breathes his own farts or something.
Would love more stuff like this! This is awesome content. I mean I love just seeing pros play/wreck and scrims and tournament gameplay.......but commentary/breakdowns are super awesome. It's like listen-ins during tournaments. I'd rather have listen-ins to hear how the team thinks than the commentary most of the time.
Falling into the flow of the game is inevitable. The brain loves patterns. Nobody's braindead or thoughtless for it. The best players are the best in part because they remain conscious on the map more consistently throughout their matches. I liked the guy you helped - he caught on quick.
These type of videos really help me as total noob. This opened my eyes alot to how I have to really take in so much more information during matches. Keep these coming.
I placed Plat 3, almost made it into Diamond, then lost rank down to Plat 5 when I started squading up with a few friends 😅. I know I definitely have a lot to work on, this video helped a ton. Love your play style and and your streams. Keep it up man!

Best pro tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked, rinse and repeat when you feel the built in, intentional artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. Yeah the system is broken, no point in caring about Ranked at this stage unless for the status Flex, anyone can be Onyx regardless of actual skill level.

There are not many better then Tom (Lucid) at map understanding and movement.. if you watch his streams you would think he is walling because he always knows where the enemy is, but it’s just testament to how amazing his awareness is.. really one of the best itw
Damn Professor Lucid going off! The best advice I took away from this: when you're in a position you "couldn't do anything about", think about how you actually put yourself there 10-20 seconds ago! Also Infinite seems like it rewards less aggressive and more positional play. This guy was trying to go Rambo quite a bit, which led to tons of situations being outnumbered. Great content!
At 3:34 - or 39 seconds into the clip I’d also say that rather than dropping down for sword, trade a plasma nade and combat evolve it up to you. in this situation it would have netted 2 kills and in general is way safer than jumping down there. + with the plasma grenades spawning on C, you’re not even wasting a nade.
Turned a 5-6 minute game into a 23 minute breakdown. That's insane. People who want to improve watching this are finding a gold mine. Keep this going please brother.
Awesome video! Straight up was about to unsubscribe, but then watched this whole video and I learned a lot. It’s very entertaining watching you pull off those crazy plays and have those dominating game performances, don’t get me wrong! It inspires me, but it’s just so difficult when I then hop on ranked and can’t drastically improve my CSR because of losses where I feel like my teammates aren’t playing like how I watch the pros play each gametype. I’m low level Onyx but there’s a lot I need to work on - need to be team focused and not a lone wolf. Thanks for doing this kind of video, Tommy!
I’ve noticed what does help at least in solo is if I’m dying a lot and recognizing there’s no team mates around me most the time to clean up, I end up just slowing it down and following at least 1 team mate so there’s more 2v1 scenarios that often lead to numbers advantage etc.
Gotta give some respect to Sean (Shawn?). Sometimes it’s difficult for someone to let his/her ego go in order to grow. It probably hurt a little inside as lucid tore apart his foundation of gameplay, but he took it like a champ and it’s obvious he’s gonna grow from it!
Second best pro Onyx tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked no sweat, rinse and repeat when you feel the artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. Yeah the system is broken, no point in caring about Ranked at this stage, anyone can be Onyx regardless of actual skill level.
I have to be honest that I thought Lucid was full of himself and that his teammates are always at fault (based off his face and word reactions often). It is good to know but not surprising that the humbles himself and recognizes that he always has somewhere to improve. That is the mindset that separates the great ones from the good ones.
Hola Lucid yo siento que en las 107 horas que he jugado Halo Infinite he llegado a Onyx pero siento que aún fallo en conceptos así, y por eso hay días en que tengo rachas de derrotas pero gracias a este video entendí más cosas
100 the first bit of advice. So many people blame others for their loss. They're complaining about something out of their control. What can YOU do better? How can you be helping your teammates win more? Growth is all about personal responsibility.

This is extremely valuable content. Thanks Lucid
I really enjoyed having the person you’re critiquing on call with you as you’re reviewing the gameplay.
Awesome vid Lucid! Thanks for the knowledge!
Falling into the flow of the game is inevitable. The brain loves patterns. Nobody's braindead or thoughtless for it.
The best players are the best in part because they remain conscious on the map more consistently throughout their matches.
I liked the guy you helped - he caught on quick.
Yeah it's funny I didnt even realize it was another halo youtuber I have seen videos from
I think that is 1 of my biggest flaws, and because of this playing with the flow mindset I often end up out of position.
Lucid, you have amazing game sense. Thank you for doing a video like this. Truly priceless!
been looking for a video like this for awhile THANK YOU for this 👍
These type of videos really help me as total noob. This opened my eyes alot to how I have to really take in so much more information during matches. Keep these coming.
Love that the closed captioning said "PROFORMANCE" at 19:00 haha. GG vid, Lucid.
This is the best video you have ever dropped. Make more of these my guy!
I agree with that, if you struggle with a gun, keep using it, I'm struggling with the bandit at distance. But I keep picking it up.
I accidentally clicked on this video, but I'm really glad I did. I didn't know you do vod reviews till I saw this. Please don't stop.
What a crazy good breakdown. Learned so much from this. Thank you 🙏🏽
Sean McHaloDude getting some good tips for the rest of us chumps. Thanks guys. This is some great info.
I placed Plat 3, almost made it into Diamond, then lost rank down to Plat 5 when I started squading up with a few friends 😅. I know I definitely have a lot to work on, this video helped a ton. Love your play style and and your streams. Keep it up man!
Best pro tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked, rinse and repeat when you feel the artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. Yeah the system is broken, no point in caring about Ranked at this stage unless you just want to Flex that rank, anyone can be Onyx regardless of actual skill level.
holy shit im half way through this vid and i barely noticed it was seanW. Hell yea lucid out here showing love to the little guys
Very helpful insight.. would love to see more and more of this content. Definitely made me think about my actions and thought process
Man this is an amazing breakdown. Thank you for this
guy is very coachable thats gonna take him a long way in life not just in halo
That is a great concept, looking forward to seeing more of this, i would like to see it for other levels like high onyx
I'm always gonna turn up to this kinda content. Thanks :)
Great break down. Appreciate it dude! Keep ‘em coming
Please keep doing these they help me tremendously
this was so helpful thank you for uploading!
I got 21 minutes in and Lucid said “you, the listener, and even you, Sean” and I got spooked for a second before realizing the player hes reviewing was named Sean because thats my name lol
lucid this is awesome!!! please do more of these!
I love this, man. Good stuff!
Sean W is already one of the 2 halo players I fervently follow, along with lucid aha.
This was an great eye opener ! More people should watch this. Or even better make this a MUST WATCH before you can jump into Ranked. 🤣
Awesome video! I have been hovering between Onyx and Diamond 6 for a while and had a bad past few sessions. Lots of solid tips I can’t wait to put into use next time I get on 🤘
Best pro tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked, rinse and repeat when you feel the built in, intentional artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. Yeah the system is broken, no point in caring about Ranked at this stage unless for the status Flex, anyone can be Onyx regardless of actual skill level.
@@wreckfest3728 or just get good and hit 1700 onyx and feel good about not cheating the system
Havent played comp halo since h4 and lucid reignited my love for it this year thank you brother !
This is well thought out gameplay eval. I wish I had teammates like this. Great video and great analysis. Top tier boys!!
I am hardstuck diamond 4 and this seems useful brotha. Thanks!
Second best pro Onyx tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked no sweat, rinse and repeat when you feel the artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. Yeah the system is broken, no point in caring about Ranked at this stage, anyone can be Onyx regardless of actual skill level.
thank you lucid! been stuck diamon 4 for a while likin the tips
please keep making these bro. Love to see it
Lucid as a HCS caster would be legendary. Phenomenal breakdown
More videos like this would be amazing. Learned a lot and appreciate the content! Keep it up!
That's something else, what a treat! I want more!
There are not many better then Tom (Lucid) at map understanding and movement.. if you watch his streams you would think he is walling because he always knows where the enemy is, but it’s just testament to how amazing his awareness is.. really one of the best itw
This helped me a lot thank you lucid for your knowledge
This was a great video and the player listening to your advice… i would love to grind with him, seems very open minded.
This is really some good life advice too haha, keep up the good stuf lucid.
Very good Info! And broken down very well. Thanks for this!
Turned a 5-6 minute game into a 23 minute breakdown. That's insane. People who want to improve watching this are finding a gold mine. Keep this going please brother.
Really would love to see more of these.
This was great, Good knowledge like having a tutor
I’ve noticed what does help at least in solo is if I’m dying a lot and recognizing there’s no team mates around me most the time to clean up, I end up just slowing it down and following at least 1 team mate so there’s more 2v1 scenarios that often lead to numbers advantage etc.
Gotta give some respect to Sean (Shawn?). Sometimes it’s difficult for someone to let his/her ego go in order to grow. It probably hurt a little inside as lucid tore apart his foundation of gameplay, but he took it like a champ and it’s obvious he’s gonna grow from it!
this is awesome man ,please more of these! I'm a Plat 6 diamond 1 ish. definitely learned alot
Second best pro Onyx tip is: Play like trash in Quick Play (5-10 matches?) to lower your stats(all modes share the same MM stats) then profit in Ranked no sweat, rinse and repeat when you feel the artificial difficulty increase in Ranked. @@wreckfest3728 nice, I'll have to try that, thanks man
I have to be honest that I thought Lucid was full of himself and that his teammates are always at fault (based off his face and word reactions often). It is good to know but not surprising that the humbles himself and recognizes that he always has somewhere to improve. That is the mindset that separates the great ones from the good ones.
nice video lucid. would like to see more gameplay commentaries like that.
