Yay! You have an official surgery date! I loved your "I want" list. I think I'm going to do that too. There's a lot I want, it would be fun to have a list to look back at. Keeping it positive is a great idea. Good luck telling your family!

Thanks Jennifer. I almost did it today at my nephew's birthday party, but I chickened out. I didn't want to be the center of attention in a "crowd". Would've been convenient, but I think I'll just go for one at a time. Ok, when you have your "I want" list, I want to hear it. Consider yourself tagged!

Sounds like you are gonna be so ready to rock this thing once your date gets here. Once you tell your family I bet your nerves will settle down.

Ok, your want list made me a little teary. I really want those things for you too. Can you add "kayaking with your sister" to the list though? And last, Michele is right about telling your entire family. I really like Kirk's comment about other surgeries too. This one shouldn't be any different.

Ok, kayaking with my sister is definitely going on the list! And yes, Michele and VSG Kirk are wise beyond their years. It's wonderful to be surrounded by such awesome people, whether in person, online, or wherever. Lucky me! 🍀

Thanks, Tammy! We're practically sleeve sisters, right? Hope you're doing well! Thanks for joining me on my adventure! If you haven't watched them, I think my videos get a little bit better as I go along. 😉

Omg, congrats! That's not that far away. Liquid diets are the worst - if you can get through that, surgery will be a breeze! The Bariatric Advantage calcium chews are really good. Would you tell your family if you were getting a pacemaker, or having a tumor removed or something else that is lifesaving? If yes, then you should tell them. You are taking a big step towards saving and extending your life! I told everyone. But that's because I'm a narcissist and attention whore... LOL

Thanks, Kirk. Yeah, I'm not worried about the preop diet. I can do anything for 10 days. Do you have a favorite flavor of calcium chew? I tried the lemon one at our preop class...so-so. Your comparison of WLS to pacemakers really resonated with me. I tried calling my sister, but didn't talk to her yet. I will this week! And lastly, don't we all have to be a little narcissistic and attention whores to be making videos. I'll admit to that. 😃

WHAT A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR YOU! I have a hard time with Betsy. She's talks at me rather than with me. :( Maybe because your a nurse you'll do better. I think i learned more from our Ytube peeps then I did the classes. ZOMG.. I would have the HARDEST time passing up banana pudding! Kudos to you! Only people I've told is my mother/Father/sister/husband/Best Friend. My in-laws do not know.. kept it to myself , I didn't want drama.. Have fun at the sale!

Yeah, I actually like Betsy. She's been really helpful. I tried calling my sister on my way to work, but couldn't get her. I'll try again tomorrow. She's in San Francisco I think for a golf tournament, so it might be hard to find a good time to chat. Anyway thanks, and I hope the clothing sale is all it's cracked up to be.

I've wondered, too, how it is that some people don't seem to have as much info as I do - and I'm having mine done in Mexico and won't even MEET my doctor until the day before. They sent me detailed pre-op and post-op diet plans, along with a ton of other info. I printed it all up and put it in a folder and it is now my BIBLE. I have it memorized, practically. I'm all set up on My Fitness Pal, I've ordered my liquid protein, vitamins, etc. from Amazon.com, etc. I just can't figure out how people aren't interested in learning everything about a BIG DEAL thing that's going to happen to your body. It's like pregnant women who don't even pick up a pamphlet about pregnancy, labor, etc., and then end up having a not-so-good experience. DUH! Anyway, GOOD JOB, TK!! I'm so excited to follow you, since we're almost on on the same timeline. Take care of you! ♥

I just have to hope that those are the people who fall into the dreaded 30% (failure rate). It is pretty shocking sometimes. Someone asked me the other day to post a pic of my postop diet plan, because she hadn't gotten anything detailed like I had. Wth? That's just irresponsible on the surgeon's part not to make sure patients are educated.

I had to laugh at what you said about didnt everyone get a diet plan for the process, not because it was funny but because that has been a pet peeve of mine about the groups. It drives me nuts because this is supposed to be a life altering tool but not everyone wants to follow the rules.

I know. It's weird, isn't it? I have had some people ask for copies of my diet plan, which is good. It's just sad that there are surgeons out there who don't educate their patients.
