I learned Hangul very quickly. 3.5 years later I still struggle with pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The Korean language is fun to learn though.
I've been a fan of Korean Englishman for many years, their latest series with the English Highschoolers going to Korea was one of their best.

What Josh said is it takes about 2 hours to learn HANGEUL not to fully learn the Korean language. Hangeul is the alphabet and it is extremely easy to learn but the language is more difficult. If given words you could probably make a sentence very easily, with probably one or two grammar mistakes only. But pronunciation can be difficult especially if your only language is English because much of the alphabet sounds are unlike any in English. Take the word you love HYUNTA, you are completely mispronouncing it, It's not hunta it's closer to hew-un-ta and that's not completely correct either.

The chopstciks in Korea has a full on history about how royalty was using brass and silver chopsticks to detect poison in their food and many more. If I remember correctly, the metal chopsticks was used as a staple in Korea in order to preserve their natural environment (trees) since historically, commoners usually used wooden chopsticks, so they switched from wooden to metal as a staple for the community.
P.S. please correct me if I'm wrong

    • @ebony7177
      @ebony7177 Год назад +15

You are correct. They needed to rebuild up their forests and the steel industry was starting up so they moved everyone to steel chopsticks.

Also something with flavor. Some say the wooden chopstick have a taste, maybe because of some chemical treatment. Plastic [to me] makes food/drinks taste strange. And....yeah, save a tree. I hear people carry their personal chopstick to restaurants.

It also makes them more dexterous. It is said that Korea has some the best surgeon because of their dexterity. The metal chopsticks is the reason why.

yes! the written language in korean is SOOOO EASY!! i memorized the entire alphabet and how to pronounce each letter within 30-60 minutes! i struggled with a couple of the letters pronunciation because my mouth just wouldn't move that way being a native english speaker, but now i can speak it relatively well. obviously i didn't know what i was saying when i first learned Hanguel, but i could read and write it. hahaha they have letters like us (not characters like chinese) and they have 2 less letters in their alphabet than the english alphabet. also, their letters always sound the same (except for a few rules that you have to memorize as you keep learning but the general alphabet has the same pronunciation) so reading korean is easy. in english there are so many ways to read the letters like: tough, through, thought all have ough but are all pronounced differently. that doesnt exist in korean so it is really easy in that regard. now learning the actual language is challenging but from day 1 of learning i could read and write so it was really fun! :)

Korean Englishman's videos is so amazing and really helpful in Korean food description ✨ That's just a cutted parts of different episodes edited together. In other videos they have full description to all food with names. Very fun to watch🙂 Will be amazing if you reacted to it more. British highschoolers trying korean food and going to Korea for trip it's amazing part of their channel. There many helpful information about South Korea experience in full, from food to traditions😁 Recommend you watch that journey from ep.1 to all in order💜

Josh means that is easy to learn the korean alphabet (한글) so you can read the letters but that doesn't mean you know what the words mean. hahahaa (BTW: I will be always grateful to King Sejong who created this beautiful alphabet ) Josh and Ollie are a funny duo.

Jin of BTS has said that the wooden chopsticks often have a “weird” smell. Korean chopsticks are often metal, unlike in Japan or Thailand.

I have had some horrible kimchi but the best I have found are actually imported from Korea rather than locally made. Only exception is when my Korean friend made kimchi for me.
Edited to add: I love most of the Korean Englishman videos. Other than the high schoolers series of videos, I really like the videos of introducing Korean food to the twins, a priest & an army major, they are hilarious

Anyone can seriously learn to read and write Korean in a couple of hours. I mean I have no idea what I'm reading in terms of vocabulary, haha, but that's where the true studying comes in (flashcards)! Same with Japanese and the first 2 sets of character alphabets (Hiragna & Katagana). Kanji is the scary one LOL 🖤🥀

I can say, i started learning hangeul back when i was around 12, and it was really simple for me to pick up on honestly 😭the only difficult thing for me to learn about it was the W's in hangeul. Learning the words and grammar is a whole diff story though xD

It's really easy to learn how to read Korean Hangul but it doesn't make you understand what you are reading.
I don't know about metal chopsticks cultural significance, but isn't in easier and more convenient to have metal set over disposable wooden one? Less planet pollution, cheaper in grand scale, you can wash it. I personally own metal chopsticks and love it. It is logical to me, because aren't we have metal spoons and forks in our kitchen? Why chopsticks would be disposable?

The Korean alphabet it’s pretty easy to learn, as a Spanish speaker myself, the phonics of the letters are so similar if not the same as in Spanish. The language itself is not easy at all, but once you get into the culture you find your ways to learn it. It’s a nice challenge 😅 I’m trying really hard, just like I did when I learned English in middle school, completely getting immersed in USA/UK content (movies, shows, music), but Korean is in another level. 😅😅 I can read Korean, do I know what it says? Probably not 😂😂😂 but I’ll get there… one day.
