PREMISE
The series takes place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024), and follows Knuckles the Echidna as he trains deputy sheriff Wade Whipple in the ways of the Echidna warrior.[3]

You’d think they’d learn from Halloween Ends that people expect the character who’s on the poster to be…you know, the main character
I thought Halloween ends was pretty good. It tried to do something different and it worked for me and I appreciated the trying something new. Also just because someone is on a poster doesn't mean they're going to be a main character. It's not called Michael myers it's called Halloween ends so If someone doesn't like the movie because there wasn't enough michael myers than that's they're own fault for having that expectation. Wonder woman was on the poster for batman v superman and she wasn't anywhere close to a main character in that movie.
@@Jakester1472the thing is they cheated by marketing the movie to be this big final show down and that’s not really what we got. I get that they were playing on a certain theme but they knew what they were doing with the marketing just to sell tickets. It would’ve worked if that wasn’t the final movie in the trilogy and we had gotten the Corey character in the other 2 or even just Halloween kills

It has so much potential if they just took tons of inspiration from the archie comics and made it more dark, mature, and awesome. It’s sad that the writers are too scared to fully embrace that side of Sonic and we instead get mid crap like this.

Well, at least we can still look forward to Sonic 3, that is heavily focused on Sonic Adventure 2 so we know that'll be focused on the characters we care about 😮💨
I’m done. I don’t care about movies in general anymore. I’ve been let down way too many times as of recently. The last good movies that I can think of are PIB 2, Mario Movie, Guardians 3, and Bob Marley. Kung Fu Panda 4 was a letdown, GxK was kinda eh, and this looks completely mediocre and nothing what I wanted the story to be despite its absurd two year delay. Hard pass. I’m done with Hollyweird. AI fan animated content cannot come here soon enough!

So when the producers of this show were making this,they were like " do you think kids would actually like a show about sonic and his friends?" And they respond with " no. Let's make the show about that bad comic relief from the previous 2 movies." Glad to know I didn't waste my time with this show.

Good God, shut up.... Have you even watched the show? Knuckles is literally in every single episode. The whole series feels a bit rushed due to only being 6 episodes, but it is a good fucking show that I enjoyed as much as the movies. Everyone on the Internet is just a bunch of whiny, super entitled babies, I swear.
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. They’ve made two movies that actually did a solid job focusing on Sonic as the main character (minus the wedding scene from Sonic 2) and yet they couldn’t make a show focusing on Knuckles as the main character? 💀☠️ It’s sad because Knuckles is such a cool character with tons of great stories to tell and they pull him in a lame one where he gets sidelined for half of it apparently. I didn’t come for Wade Whipple and his family drama I came for KNUCKLES. Despite my initial mixed reaction from the trailer I was willing to give this show a chance because if it didn’t have the Chaotix and what not at least it could’ve focused on Knuckles and his past. If anyone enjoys this show more power to you. As for me I’m just disappointed.
Writers are completely flaky nowadays. They either want to make mediocre shows/movies or push a weird agenda onto children. THAT’S IT! I’m so over being let down so many times as of recently and I’m done using the “delay it so we can make it better” excuse for franchises like Sonic. No, it’s not hard to make a great story. Heck, let me write it for once! I wanted this show to be about Knuckles exploring his inner echidna roots and exploring temples across the world and other planets. I wanna see the Chaotix and Knuckles struggle against Fang the Sniper, Bark the Polar Bear, and Bean the Dynamite. WHY CAN’T THEY EVER LISTEN?!
I think I recall some film critics complaining when Sonic Movie 2 came out that it focused too much on the Sonic characters and should have focused on the humans more, one I even think said that the movie should have focused on Tom the Cop rather than Sonic unless I'm misremembering. Hope this isn't in response to things like that or else that doesn't bode the best for Movie 3.

1. The best kids movies do include jokes written for the parents.
2. Chances are the pitch for this show was "we want a sonic spinoff, but you're getting the CGI budget for 10 minutes of Knuckles per-episode" and so the rest was sitcom filler.
I understand the value of jokes for adults. These feel like INSIDE JOKES.

Huh. Looks like this is the biggest subversion of expectations since a Jurassic World film decided to focus on human cloning, locusts eating crops, and espionage plotlines instead of dinosaurs. Let’s hope this kind of thing doesn’t become a trend to do with IPs.

It does show the dinosaurs in action. It’s a big overstatement to say there were barely any dinosaurs in the movie when in reality, more dinosaurs where present here in more environments and scenarios than any other installment.

I've never been so disapointed about a show than this one. I've been waiting for this show since it first got announced, I got my family to set up a movie night together, we cleaned up, we made chilidogs for dinner, we sat down all together for knuckles, and we got wade.
I feel cheated, I feel clickbaited, I am very disappointed. Why is wade the star in knuckle's show?
However, I will say the parts we got with knuckles and the stuff we got with the gun agents, were VERY interesting. I was on the edge of my seat with excitement when the focus was on them. I was grasping on that excitement, hoping to see more or what we were promised, and we barely got that.
The show feels like a gross mix of extremely boring scenes with extremely interesting scenes.
You literally described both Sonic movies. They used the same exact formula for this show, but everyone is crying like a little baby about it. The human scenes in Knuckles were 10 times better than the bullshit Wedding scenes from Sonic 2. I actually gave a shit about Wade, and his story.
I'm not even a Sonic fan, and that sounds insulting.

I was on record being excited for the show. I was a fan of the two movies. But the Wade show is not what I want from an adaptation of Sonic/Knuckles
@@Dartanyoogles In my review of Sonic 2 I took issue with the wedding plot line. But that was still just a subplot. The narrative focus was on Sonic, Tails, and Robitnik.
There's a 3 episode stretch....half the run of the season...which is exclusively about Wade's journey....family dinner, rock opera, and bowling tournament.
That's DRAMATICALLY more human focused than the films. It's almost certainly due to the budget of a television show.

Yeah, I was thinking that most of the money was being directed mostly towards Sonic 3 and that The Knuckles Show was simply made for casual watchers.
I just finished the series. I actually really liked the Wade storyline. I enjoyed the rock opera dream where he turns into Knuckles and reenacts Knuckles’ story. I liked the wacky characters. I liked the bowling tournament. Honestly the scenes that focus on the human characters were far better in this show then they were in the two films.
YES!! My thoughts exactly! The human stuff besides Robotnik in the first two movies is awful, especially that terrible Wedding sequence from Sonic 2. All of the stuff involving Wade was 10 times better in this show. My only complaint was that it was a few episodes too short.
Despite his review of the show, I'm still gonna see it and decide for myself. At least it ain't gonna be as bad as VELMA S2

That's too bad, so much trash comes out now but both Sonic movies were a nice surprise, and Knuckles steals the 2nd movie. I'll still check it out but that is disappointing that it's more about Wade and I hate how Hollywood does that trend of sidelining the character being sold as the main and the show is even named after them.

I guess I had a very different experience with the Knuckles series. I was looking forward to this because I've enjoyed the Sonic films so far, although it didn't seem necessary, but it was still on my watch list, and I certainly wasn't thrilled about its multiple delays. I knew that Wade was going to be a prominent character, and I had heard about complaints about him having too much focus, but I wanted to go into the series knowing as little as possible aside from what was shown in the advertising.
Now having seen the full series, I really found myself enjoying it overall. I enjoyed Wade as a minor character in the films, and I imagine that one's enjoyment of the show depends a lot if one is invested in his character arc, and I definitely was, so much so that I honestly was ok that it got as much focus as it did. Yes, I get if there are people who really feel like Knuckles was sidelined in his own spin-off, but I was alright with it, and I get what they were doing with him seeing Wade as a potential apprentice.
The structure of the series felt a lot like the first Sonic film compared to the second, and I find that it worked. In all honesty, episode 4 was the big highlight for me, as I found the low-budget style musical journey Wade experienced to be very humorous, and the episode's conclusion was very satisfying.
Despite my enjoyment of the show, it wasn't without a few shortcomings. I found Wade's sister to be kind of a pain in episode 3, in which she was such a jerk to him, and she didn't seem to grow enough by the end. But the real problem I have with the series is the lack of closure, which is a big problem for any show. With all the setup in the first episode, there really should have been more of a proper ending. I actually thought there was potentially going to be a big change with Knuckles at the end, but it didn't seem to confirm anything yet. But we never see when he returns home, which is disappointing considering how things were when he left on his journey. It was nice to see Sonic, Tails, and Maddie in the first episode, but they really should have appeared in the last episode as well.
Despite the abrupt ending, I still really enjoyed the series, even though I totally understand why others would be disappointed by it. At least I've still got the third film to look forward to before the year is over.
They should make a Wade spin off series!

Sean has a lot more attachment to the Alien franchise (Alien & Aliens specifically) than the Game of Thrones IP. I think he’d most likely say Alien 3.

The first two Sonic the Hedgehog films are actually rather good! They really got it right.
I’ve heard nothing but positive things about this series so it surprises me to hear that the show is NOT actually about Knuckles!
This sounds an awful lot like the studio ignored what the fans liked the most about the films which of course was the hedgehogs, but ultimately decided to focus more on the human characters. That makes no sense!
This makes me a little worried for Sonic 3…
Actually, I wouldn’t worry about the third movie, especially due to the fact that the reason why Knuckles is hardly in the show was probably due to budget.
In my personal opinion, I think this show wasn’t really supposed to be something to be hyped about, but rather just a side thing to keep the Sonic fans occupied before movie 3 comes out.
The show wasn’t bad by any means, but it’s not necessarily hype material either, and I think that was intentional.
You all seem to be jumping to conclusions in the comments about the third movie mirroring this show when it seems to me that there’s hardly any evidence.
I seriously really enjoyed the Knuckles show in spite of its issues and eagerly hope for sn2.
Hopefully sn2 will have more KNUCKLES.

I don't think it's so much the six episode format, it's more of the writing and how they fit them in the format. We've seen it work before with shows such as Hawkeye and Loki
Agreed. Its also frustrating that Peacock made a better video game show with Twisted Metal than Paramount did with 6 episodes

It is both fun, and funny. I thought this show was funnier than both Sonic movies, and I was never bored whatsoever. Wade is great, and Knuckles is literally in every single episode. It could have been a few more episodes, because the ending does feel rushed, but otherwise it was a blast!

I knew it wouldnt be 3 hours of pure CGI Knuckle. That would be too expansive. But we get at least 1 good Battle per episode. And i still enjoyed Wade more than the 2 humans in the Sonic movies. And then the final boss is basicaly a Sonic Adventure 2 boss.

The Ted show literally proves that this isn't a budgetary issue since while yes the plot still heavily focused on the human, Ted still get as much spotlight and is on screen 90% of the time.
I can’t find any hard numbers for either series, but it’s very possible that Ted could’ve had a bigger budget than Knuckles.

Iblis being killed off by Wade/Knuckles is perfect because Sonic 06 is a DUMPSTER FIRE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!!!!!!!! If you liked Sonic Movie 1, then (IN MY OPINION) THIS IS Sonic Movie 1, But ABOUT Knuckles and Wade. (AND BETTER THAN SONIC MOVIE 1 BUT NOT BY MUCH)
Sonic 1 movie is way better than this because Sonic 1 knows when to reign in the jokes. This was just non-stop writers trying to make themselves chuckle, which often killed the tension of scenes.

When I paid money for the paramount+, I paid to watch Knuckles, not Wade. I do not care about Wade’s family or tournament shits. I want to watch knuckles action and his songs from the games, more references. Truly disappointing and now I feel less hopeful for Sonic3😢

Movie/TV executives are so stupid. They want content for their streaming platforms but refuse to invest money or talent to make them a draw for viewers. This is why you fail. And it’s so obvious.
I found myself asking out loud the last 4 episodes, "WHERE'S KNUCKLES?!" Very disappointing.
I may see Knuckles eventually, I no longer have Paramount+.

I liked it when it actually focused on Knuckles and the Sonicverse lore, and I loved the anime-esque feel to the final battle (even if it was just a cut and paste of Sonic 1.)
Problems were focusing too much on Wade and being way too jokey. The Sonic movies are jokey too, but they know when to reign it in and focus on the drama of the plot. This is just non-stop jokes and cheesy one-liners that often fall flat on their faces and often end up ruining otherwise tense scenes.
And don't even get me started on the annoying, immersion-breaking product placement.
People shouldn't expect too much though and just take this for what it is: A stop-gap spin-off before Sonic 3.

Is this a must watch for sonic 3? Disappointed to hear it’s not good I was looking forward to this. I hate it when movies do this. They market stuff in the trailer that’s not even a big part in the movie or they just decide to put focus on certain things that the audience does not care about. First 3 episodes- Great
Episode 4- Kinda Painful
Episode 5- Eh, the ending is good
Episode 6- Mediocre
Episode 1 and 2 were my favs because they felt most like the movies, I liked the moments where they dropped some lore, and loved the presentation of the final battle, but apart from that, yeah... Might as well had called the show "Wade"'.

All of Knuckles scenes would probably be about more than an hour, which is basically about 1/3rd of the show.
I wonder how much the fans are going to tolerate the live action universe before looking back and realise just how overraed it is.

That disappoints me a lot. Wade was always the unfunniest character to me in the entire franchise.
This is why the Mario movie will always be better than these Sonic movies. Even the first 2 movies, focused too much on the humans. This series even more so. They’re too obsessed with the human actors.
Whereas Mario actually focuses on the core videogame characters. And that’s why it’ll always be a better adaptation.
I thought Sonic 2 was great when it focused on the Sonic lore, but yes, would've been way better had that whole stupid wedding scene and the like just been cut. People want to see SONIC CHARACTERS, not a bad Tyle Perry sitcom.
Oh dear, I hope this dosen't damage the Sonic franchise that much. I knew something bad gotta happen when I saw the thumbnail. Haven't watch the show yet, hopefully I can still appreciate it. If it's not all about Knuckles they could have just retitle to Wade or Mr. Whipple or just change to a Knuckles origin story.
It probably will, something to know about a good majority of sonic fans, is that when something doesn’t meet expectations in this franchise, not only does it anger them, but they hang that failure in front of sega forever, believing that it will force them to make massive changes
You might be completely oblivious to the Sonic franchise. Some of the worst games ever made exist in that franchise, like Sonic 06. Knuckles is way better than all of the horrible games that they have made over the years.
The first and 2nd episode wasn’t too bad but then it drifted off to crap. I’m on episode 4 and I’m like wtf am I watching?

It seems to me that they greenlit and announced this before they had a concrete story in mind, and the reason why it's focused on Wade instead of Knuckles is definitely budget limitations. Oh well.

If Paramount could not give a bigger budget for this series then why make it?
It's hard to believe that Paramount in it's Hay days gave us Star Trek, Cheers & Beverly Hills Cop & yet they gave us this ?? a TV Series that has little to nothing to do with Knuckles & Characters that are just excruciating to watch, it's hard to believe that Wade is Suppose to be a Police Officer, now to be honest his stupidity works in the films but not in this Series plus his Sister what an absolute joke, she's suppose to be professional as she's an FBI Agent & yet she constantly acts like a spoilt child & compete's with Wade even when She's Handcuffed ?? this was truly painful to watch & so far this is the worst thing I've seen come out of Sonic the Hedgehog so far. I really hope that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is better than this & as Sean said you don't have to watch this Series to understand a gap between Sonic 2 & 3 this just exists plus Sean I agree with everything you said!!
Just finished watching it, I dont want to say It's bad, But the disappointment is just awful, How the hell did they not consider that making wade basically the main character is FUCKING STUPID "OOOO lets make quirky n goofy wade a redemption arc story!!!", I hope to god that the third movie makes up for it. (Note: Im aware that I might sound like im shitting on the show, But I did get some enjoyment out of it)
