The Stability Control has everything to do with shocks. I would take it in and have that cable replaced so they don’t blame you for it later.

I agree, the "ride control" is the adjustable part on your suspension , your SHOCKS,that is why the wire is running into them.It is hooked to a sensor that detects lean in the car and corrects with pressure. It may have only detected the heat in the wiring but I would replace it.MAKE IT CRYSTAL CLEAR TO DEALERSHIP THAT YOU ARE ANAL,AND WILL BE CHECKING THERE WORK!!!

Can you order a Challenger without all that GPS-computer stuff on middle of the dash? It would be cool if you could delete that when placing the order and have a coin tray or something instead, but yeah getting back to the problem, definitely take it to the dealer to correct all those problems underneath.

Good video. The same thing happened to my 2017 SRT8 Charger. It was rubbing up against the tire and I had it replaced. I thought about putting tape on it also but then I realized that if I did fix it and it happened again and they saw tape on it they might try to blame me. Plus 717 his Hellcat was 15 and it had a manual transmission and he had a lot of problems with the transmission. Good luck

You are quite adept at picking nits, congratulations. The 2nd little shock is the gas reservoir for the shock. Your wires are most likely what controls compression and/or rebound damping by controlling gas pressures.

Yes that wire and shocks are a big part of stability control. ASE mechanic for 22yrs currently work for large Chrysler dealership in Cincinnati. Get the wire relaced the coating has been breached. it will begin to breakdown then moisture will enter and warning message will stay on. What that wire does is automatically stiffen and lighten the shock when stability control is activated.

I removed the Dodge logo on my 2016. Put a Punisher skull and crossbones with AR-15's sticker between the the tail lights and then did a matte black vinyl wrap over that and all the glossy black plastic and tinted the reverse lights with Luxe. Turned out really good it's really subtle but the skull and crossbones look embossed and the shiny plastic is all covered.

had a 2014 charger r/t. took it to a muffler shop and had the resonators removed. the left rear wheel sensor immediately "failed" after the work. It was replaced under warranty.... but. It was perfectly fine till it went to muffler shop. This fault caused my transmission not to shift out of 1st gear, and the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. Once a new sensor was on it, no other issues.

He took it back to the Jeep/Dodge dealer, talked to one of the shop guys, and he said "Yup, Dodges and Jeeps, keep me working all the time, and my 2001 toyota 4 runner takes home and to work every day with out fail"

  • @josephmaltry575

The wire is for the adaptive ride shocks... Its will set a traction control light or esc light, after a few good trips/key cycles will turn stored and turn off warning light.
Replace the sensor at the dealership not a big problem!

In 1990, I built a 70.5 AAR Cuda with 440 for $8,300 - it was turning high 9's at Bowling Green, KY...and was streetable. My guess is, for double that, I could still build the car today. The Hellcat is a pretty car, but it's not $85k worth of car, by a long shot - and I've owned and drove Mopar all my life.

I've always loved the challenger, I had a '15 Challenger SRT392 and would have an '18 widebody hellcat if the quality was even semi reliable. After the 22 service calls for my 392 for some reason they still wouldn't fix the damn thing so I lemon law it and took my rather large check and ordered a '17 Camaro ZL1 that not only beats up the hellcat it WORKS!! This thing hasn't given me even a hiccup, flawless operation and the 10 speed auto is awesome. Easy, bolt on upgrades without opening up the engine or affecting reliability as it's my daily driver. In south florida the experts in late model GM V-8 upgrades is REDLINE MOTORSPORTS, who pushed the LT4 in my ZL1 from 650hp at the fly to 735+hp. It easily handles hellcats and in no way am I dissing the MOPAR universe as my last 3 cars were HEMI Charger and Challengers, I hope they take action on the reliability issues because those cars are very cool, comfortable and fast.

I'm a mechanic/technician, with 38 years experience. The rear shocks and the wires that connect to them are definitely part of the electronic stability control system. Even if that conduit did not wear all the way through, the friction caused by rubbing on the tires could have melted the insulation on the wires inside, and caused a short circuit, causing the warning. Remember this is all digital stuff, and fairly fragile. it needs to be well protected. It's even possible that static electricity from the wires rubbing on the tire caused the error message. I also noticed that the insulation looked shiny where it was worn. is there a metal jacket underneath the outer material? And remember, while it says Dodge on it, this car was built by Fiat. For that reason, I am considering a Mustang GT (for about half what your Challenger cost. I don't have $83,000) It seems to have fewer problems than the Challenger and the Camaro. But it too is loaded with electronics, and electronics and cars are not a good mix. A car is not a good environment for fragile digital electronics, and they are prone to failure.

If I remember well, the only thing that was great on my dodge ram was that starting noise.... by the way, water will find its way there, if you see no metal, cover it with liquid tape then use that electric tape after dries out.

Remember you purchased an ultra high performance, low volume car. The fact FCA can offer 707hp with a warranty is amazing. Would have been unheard of 10 years ago.
This is why race cars are rebuilt after every pass/race. They were never intended to be daily driven over pot holes on the streets and all the other road hazards.

In 1992 I bought a brand new Eagle Talon AWD Turbo (192 whopping HP:) and they forgot to put transmission fluid in the rear axle, it seized up and came to a skidding halt, I was so shocked I couldn't comprehend what just happened..I was going thru a toll booth, imagine if it seized up while I was going 80 mph? So, the mechanic asked "did you ever do anything to it? Because it appears that it never had transmission fluid in it" There are probably other methods for quality control with all the computer scanners and robots but like that dangling wire, it helps to get it under a lift and take a look yourself.

In today's market in order to get one upgrade you have to get all the upgrades, that makes me want to buy a more basic model and add the features that I want which is pretty much limited to the engine.

Take it to the dealership and get them to make it right before you drive it. The stability control could very well be related to the rubbed wire. The wire could have been installed wrong and have internal damage. Make them fix it now and don't give them any excuse to deny your warranty claim.

IT DEFINITELY RELATES TO THE ELECTRONIC STRUT ADJUSTMENTS... BUT IF YOU MOVED THE CABLE AND NONE OF THEM TOUCH OR ARE BROKEN, THE ERROR MOST LIKELY CLEARED ITSELF.....
HAD SAME ISSUE ON A 92 STESLTH RT....

Great video and I agree I would not want to void Warrenty on that expensive of a car. Plus you wanna put miles on the motor before you hit the track and slip a bearing or something stupid internally because motor wasn’t broken in. Breaking for normal daily driving is one thing and breaking in to hit high Rpms for the track is another. Looks great I would remove the Dodge off of it myself on the back. That wire something you might want to get checked out it’s new And you shouldn’t be having those problems or having to deal with them yourself

My suggestion would be to talk to the manager at the dealer as this is a significant quality issue that should be brought to the attention to the factory. I would make them replace the wire personally, you paid a lot of cash for that car and its not unreasonable to expect your wires to be intact. The electronic stability control is coordinated with many systems in the car and yes the shocks are one because of the electronic dampening. The error code should be stored so they should be able to track that down pretty quickly.

If you turn the captions on. When he starts up the car and is pulling it out of the garage. The captions say "music"! And it is true, beautiful music!

  • @unnervingfalcon

I'd say the wire does because stability control has to do with detecting rolling the vehicle as well. So it may check the suspension movement. On another note. Any Chrysler / Fiat product is at very bottom of reliability list against all manufacturers. Check consumer reports.

Of course that wire has everything to do with Stability Control. Where do you expect Stability Control to be, under the Drivers Seat?

If you choose not to get the cable fixed, at least put some silicone on it to keep moisture out of the cable, instead of tape. Nice car !!

i wouldn't have even moved the wire, I would have taken the car right to the dealer in the condition that it was in. Wire rubbing and all, that way they can see it the way it was found and they can;t blame me or only

+Corey Mayfield i agree with what you are saying but the idea of bringing my new hellcat to the dealer and having them possibly replace a shock makes me nervous. My plan for now is to keep the electrical tape on the wire and see if the problem goes away. If i see that i get another error on the dash i can just remove the tape and put the wire back to the way it was before. The idea of bringing it in to fix one thing and then something else gets messed up makes me nervous 😂

JMC RIDES man, i agree with corey. I feel like the longer you let go on, doctor it, etc... the more issue your gonna have with dealer convincing them that u didnt do something to void any warranty. I would take it to dealer and GIVE THEM HELL. This is no 25k $ car man, dont stand for it, and make them stand behind what they sold you... i want to buy one of these 18’ wide bodies, but have decided to wait now, after seeing several quality issues around.

Dude, 1. tape that portion of harness because the wires weren't actually damaged but tell the dealer to replace that wire harness and that you only taped it till you could make it in to them but tell them how you got it and that it was rubbing, etc. but 2. DON'T assume that error message is from that harness, let them see it, could be a computer problem, I've had three major computer modules go on me on my 2015 cat and they'll probably be more which is why I bought the Mopar extended Vehicle Protection Plan (ABSOLUTELY buy the extended warranty with the Appearance Pack, RELATIVELY SMALL cost, big payoff with one or two costly fixes). Dodge's electronics are notorious for getting squirrelly (not banging on mopar but on dodge yes and ive owned a few).
    3. ENJOY YOUR NICE ride brother, don't listen to the haters out there, just enjoy you p^ssy-mobile and enjoy the track. I beat 4 cars in heads up street races in Brooklyn and I didn't START any of them. My HEAVY ass DODGE moves more like a sports car than a 4,400 lb drag car, so kudos to dodge/mopar for the suspension and steering on such a heavy beast. I ate TWO Porsche 911's, one Beemer 760 IL or LI (the latest model) and one benz (think it was an S class by the grill and headlights) - he never got even with me or in front of me for me to see what it actually was. He initially tried to go around me and blast by me to cut me off but never had a chance, I just drop shifted lol he stayed kinda close though so I think it was a 550, 600 or 63. And that was just in sports mode not even track - I have a 6 speed stick and learned how to drive on a stick. I've had hot rods with auto trannis but it's not the same for me.
Listen, bottom line is, take every little issue into the dealer so they can record it just in case it happens again - the lemon law kicks in!
Happy motorin' to all, including all you Chevy and Ford peeps!!
