Thanks watched a realistic painting on lady bugs today it took 30minutes this is much better and I'm sure with practice I will achieve the effect I want.I'm subscribed cause who has 30 more minutes to watch a vellum unless your actually doing the art at same time!
Thanks BEE REAL! I am glad if it helps you and with practice you will achieve any effect you like. The video was convert in fast motion and it was about 1 hour and 50 minutes in real time.
Maybe you meant the colors and not the type of colors so i correct my answer and for the shadows i have use only black color, a little diluted with water for the shadow under the leaf and more diluted with water for the shadow of the ladybug and water drop on the leaf, for the water drop i used black, powder blue mixed with white and black and then white. I am sorry for the late reply but i have just noticed your comment so i will answer on your questions now even if it's too late. I always rub any stone with sandpaper to make the surface as smooth as possible, then i wash it and then i start the painting with matt acrylics. At the end i leave the stone for 24 hours to dry the colors well and then i add 2 layers of a satin varnish.

How did you prep the rock? Wash, dry, then what? Add any sealant? I guess I'm watching the wrong video.

Just watched this video. Beautiful work but was hard to watch as the camera moved around way to much and was distracting. Beautiful!
